Instead, it happens to me that the 4k DV films sometimes stammer when I start playing, or the video that disappears for a regular basis during playback and that is resolved if it interrupts and restart the reproduction from the beginning. Not to mention the annoyance of having to personally recode the VC-1 videos in H.264 in order to reproduce them correctly. Since we spent good money for a product that must mainly deal with video playback to the maximum of its skills, it is frustrating not to be able to enjoy a good film without worrying about anything else.

TVDB and TVMAZE search still work for me, but only find series. TMDB search is dead...
New films are no longer recognized in the Home Theater.

I have just reported all this to Support.

After a few hours of further testing, I have now found out exactly that it is definitely due to 4K DV files that the frame rate of 23.976hz is extremely jerky. This has only been the case since the latest FW. As already mentioned, it strangely does not affect movies and series from Apple, everything runs smoothly here. All attempts to fix this in the settings have been unsuccessful.

HDR and HDR10 with 23.976hz are also not affected. Especially series and movies with DV from Netflix it is not possible to play these files without jerking.

Series from the streaming service Max are also all affected.

Recently, I also have the additional problem that when I manually set the resolution to 3840 x 2160 pixels with 60Hz so that the jerking is somewhat bearable, it automatically sets the resolution to 1920 x 1080 pixels with 60Hz :mad:, which I absolutely cannot explain.

The fact is that the new FW is slowly turning my Zidoo 3000Pro into a paperweight.

Expensive piece of hardware but no real control when releasing a new FW makes me really angry.

    edit:
Small addendum: If I deactivate the DV layer of the files with 4k DV that also have an HDR layer, the files run normally and without jerking. This means it is due to the DV processing!

The real killer is that if a new firmware breaks something, you can't roll back. That is a major problem that does not need to exist.

Zidoo team, can we please get an acknowledgment that the problem is being worked on or that a firmware update is coming soon please?

I agree with others that if you're going to disallow downgrading, at least you should be fixing obvious bugs like this one in a timely manner.

direct to TV. It has been on this firmware since it was available, and last night was the first time it has done this since the very early days firmware. In the past I reset it, and it never did it again until now. I have been delaying resetting it this time as I always do that after a new firmware and I am supposing that one is due any time now and re scanning all my hard drives is a time-consuming endeavor.

"Whining, complaining, aggressive postings change.....NOTHING." I think this is good advice. I am tired and annoyed with the "outrage" posts. It is just a media player, not an attack on one's personal well being.

I'll send you a hanky for your tears of annoyance?

Zidoo is dropping the ball here. I hope they fix all these problems in order of importance soon or else they will lose current and potential customers.

My opinion, if it even matters...I want to believe in Zidoo still...but?

On their side, I can sense the amount of hardware deals and handshakes it has taken to get these players in the hand is pure quality but something is off seriously with the software FW side of things. And its not really incompetence to say.... its you figured out the hardware, you have a good team trying hard to deliver....trust me I see the passion in HT5 but so many mishaps in code going on that the public has to endure. I say don't keep pushing out....get it right...and deliver small steps of improvement vs mass its way better on v0.0.15 and this beta we got this on v0.0.23 game we are playing. Just play it honest my friends

So its an API issue, still happening here and I am in the backend of TMDB and honestly I am very sure the community behind TMDB are feeling like this issue makes them look bad and as one that spent 2 decades fluffing metadata for the world its not cool to wonder if my time was a mess last night cause I couldn't ping my time I spent on some of these titles for so many freely.

I love you Zidoo, the feel of this box in my hands, the remote and mindset to just point and click is something I want to share to others but I can't approach that now 2 models deep now and that is really breaking my heart as a movie lover who really thought this company was in it for film lovers vs suckers who by hardware. Get me? I feel betrayed at this point but I have hopes someone fixes this so I can say I am so wrong right now!

Yea played that game here with my z2600, at first I got it and allowed the game to roll back, factory reset....I even as an owner of that model thought maybe its just me and I was just picky too much but in the end its not right to make your customer base feel that way. Seems to me we as a community need to get these guys to allow no more roll backs and push for progress or allow them to take thy money and bail. I don't think thats the intention but this is getting to be madness.

I seen in the forums a few say, its just a "Media Player" what do you guys expect. I expect my first round cost me $700 and my attempt to go from that stuttering issue to this 8K model at another $500 to actually have improvements but that is still not happening. Now I can't ping metadata is seriously a huge issue, and if this isn't corrected I suspect it could undo the brand Zidoo so I hope they can read this stuff and hit a board room to say, oh no we have issues cause its getting problematic to even have stutters let alone can't even ping and API I can hit through windows 11 CMD to see its a go but not for my movie box.

Just regroup Zidoo and do this right, its all in there, trust me I tore apart my z2600 before this upgrade to verify on board I got what I paid for. Its just firmware issues but my roku I hate does better with dolby vision/atmos/lpcm. Zidoo has a lot going for it but we may need to hire some pros at this point cause I am sure many will drop this a third generation off the 4K. I don't even see a need in 8K, I got this because my hope was overhead will help but nope its just as bad and now I can't even pull in a box cover, thats a serious issue at $500 a pop.

So shocked, just ran another scan and still the same issue. Guys its a simple API call, this is very questionable. Time to look at DUNE or whatever Best Buy has to offer, this device is a nut job

I am not happy, 24 hours dealing with an API call to a place I have contributed to that is open source on a device I gave up hard earned money to twice is like saying lets just toss cash to the open wind in a world full of economic bs. I am so disheartened, I will figure this out on my own. I am never buying a Zidoo again and out of this forum. Shame on this company, this is dumb...stutters was one thing I thought could be fixed but letting scrubbing some metadata from a long running open source spot and failing at that says serious issues. All the best my friends, time to home theater back to my PC

CEC in all it's incarnations is best avoided. It's like the Tower of Babel, or perhaps worse.

About the only way to make CEC work reliably would be to have a CEC rewriting box - kind of like a router/proxy. This box would receive CEC from every connected device. When it receives CEC data from a source, it would understand the device dialect and figure out what the device is trying to do. This magical box would then apply it's own rules, and output modified CEC data that is specific to each connected device and translated in such a way that it matches the CEC dialect of the sink.

I don't know if such a magic box exists. In theory, it should be possible to hack something like that using an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi for the brains.

Unfortunately, to make such a solution really bullet proof, the box would ideally also need access to the HDMI data stream to make decisions based on what audio and video data is being sent. That would blow out the cost and complexity.

In a lot of cases, the best option is to turn CEC off and deal with things some other way. Unfortunately, some devices won't let you turn CEC off if you want access to certain features, such as e-ARC. I'm pointing my finger at you, LG G4!
