Yeah, and this might not suprise you, but guess what looked better (brighter/more vibrant)...Pure LLDV connected directly to the TV, or, the custom EDID you did for me, with the Zidoo set at LLDV with or without VS10........... When connected directly, the Sony sees DV and you only now have 2 picture options - DV Bright and DV Dark, and both suck!

Did I mention how much I love Dolby Vision?....

I would like to thank Sony for this, because it is currently impossible to watch anything with TV LED on a Zidoo. Stuttering is annoying.

    Yep - that's what I'd expect.

    You may have mentioned previously...

I understand what you mean connecting directly to the TV which just uses the TV's EDID, but I don't know what you mean by using "the custom EDID you did for me, with the Zidoo set at LLDV with or without VS10".

I seem to remember creating an EDID for you without DV so I don't understand using LLDV with that EDID because you couldn't and LLDV will always use VS10 by definition...

But yeah - DV is a complete mess and no-one at Dolby seems to be arsed to fix it despite knowing about the problems (with the first one discovered by Stacey Spears years ago, who was at the time working with Dolby and made them fully aware!!

You did one for me with a blend of the Sony and the Onkyo, so that I have LLDV as an option via the Zidoo.

It's a double edged sword, but on balance, yeah - I wouldn't be able to watch native Dolby Vision on my non Dolby Vision JVC projector if not for Sony.

You've lost me - The Sony and the Onkyo together would support LLDV without the need for a custom EDID.

I know, all these edids.....if you remember, the Onkyo hides the DV block from the Sony, as the Onkyo does not pass through DV.....no custom edid = Zidoo DV not supported - custom edid = Zidoo DV supported, but I need to manually toggle the panel into HDR mode, and voila LLDV in all its glory.

Another interesting observations - TV Show Wheel of Time sometimes does sttuter, sometimes doesn't.
If I restart an episode and it goes ok - then it will play fine entirely.

Absolutely random - maybe there are some HDMI handshake issues on this firmware?

    HI,

A little feedback with my brand new Z3000 pro. Latest firmware. My First zidoo.

i'm pretty happy so far with my testings.

i've tryed about 10 different Isos ( blu-ray and UHD) via SMB protocol. They boot up and play fine ! BD Menu support is really good so far. Better than i expected!

The overall user experice is great !

Navigating forward and backward in the movie using arrows works great too. ( apart for the OK button that does not validate the position)

    The 23.976 is smooth.

only tested a few scenes for the moment, so no stuttering.

little note : The zidoo was automatically recognized by my sony TV as bravia sync compatible. so it activated without me asking for it. not a big deal though.

next step : setting the posterwall. and then setting the music app.

I can also confirm that 24.0 fps movies do not work properly - there are frame skips / stutter

Observed it in "The Electric State". Dune and Apple TV play it fine

Just checking - you'd be amazed!!!

    But 24fps isn't a trigger for stuttering.

Maybe it's not, maybe the nature of the video itself triggers it

I recall someone here claimed that 24 fps videos with DD+Atmos are stuttering.

I'm afraid it's not as simple as that - 24Hz AC3+ plays fine here.
