Yes, but until now at least you could see more of him around the poster and it added to the atmosphere. Now it's dark around the poster. So now according to the developers I have to redo my entire collection so that the fanarts are adapted to that...

I found that CEC had been turned on during v1.2.01 install. My Z3000 started re-booting while shutting everything down with a Harmony remote. I guess it will depend on the order that the Harmony shuts your components down, if the TV is already off when the Zidoo gets its shutdown command then the Zidoo won't feel the need to turn on again. Anyway, turning CEC off solved it for me. I've no idea how it got turned on as all other settings remained as usual.
I have CEC on on my LG G2 so that I can get eARC sound through my AVR for the rare times I watch free to air TV. I have found no CEC interaction with either Zidoo, Marantz AVR or Topfield PVR if those upstream components don't also have CEC enabled.

CEC is the work of the devil and should never be used. I might say that a lot, but it comes from decades of experience in CI.

The colors on the s928x are more saturated than on the realtek and there’s also better rendering of the image in general a little to my eyes but there’s too much sharpness vs the Dune 8K which looks the best but stutters also so…

You are using the 4K UI? Isn’t that making playback stutter when you pop up the interface? Or has that been fixed?

Yes, we might have heard that once or twice before from you! LG unfortunately link eARC output with turning on Simplink - LGs iteration of CEC. I think I got away with it, but it would have been turned off immediately if there was any unwanted interaction. In reality, the number of times that I've watched free to air in the last 4 years is zero, so I've never even used eARC to AVR. I just programmed it for completeness, I'm sure you get that urge too.;)

Today I ground more hours of viewing with DV movies and for the moment I can confirm that I no longer see stammering with LED Passhrough Auto TV. Maybe my myopia has worsened quickly but the video reproduction is fluid. I have not tested the other options because I don't use them.

This chipset is the saboteur. The Dune boxes are in even worse shape.

4K UI still stutters when you pop up the UI... I will stay on the 1080p one.

@Markswift2003, did more testing playing the TV Led Passthrough stutter lord of the rings video clip with the fire at the beginning in LLDV mode and I found something interesting for the devs. I repeatedly played the file from the beginning and what I found with my setup is that sometimes it stutters like hell, sometimes it barely stutters and sometimes it never stutters. Now, the most interesting part is that once I have a playback that never stutters, I can scan in the file as much as I want and it will never stutter. Once I press stop and start again it's a crap shot as to if I will have a stutter hell, very little stutter or no stutter but every time if I scan in the movie it stays in the same state. It's like that initial DV connect with my TV is glitching sometimes.

Will try real longer movies next but I can definitely trigger the stutter hell with that lords of the ring clip file.

Also, I tried in the TV LED passthrough modes and it always stutter like hell on that clip, I can't get a good playback. I really prefer the image of TV LED so I hope they can fix both LLDV and TV LED modes stuttering.

Both yesterday and today I watched movies and TV series in Dolby Vision with the LED TV mode and I had no problems with blocking or stuttering. For now this new firmware is very good for me.

Wonder which company was the first to use this chip for the new generation of media players and why everyone jumped on it. Is there really no alternative on the market?

@Markswift2003 , new tests and new interesting information.

    To make it brief:

DV (LLDV) + DTS-HD MA = No stutters
    DV (LLDV) + Atmos/DD+ = Stuttering
    DV (LLDV) + Atmos/TrueHD = Stuttering
    HDR + Atmos/TrueHD = No stutters

DV (TV LED AUTO) + DTS-HD MA = Small stutters but not a lot
DV (TV LED AUTO) + Atmos/DD+ = Stuttering
DV (TV LED AUTO) + Atmos/TrueHD = Stuttering

    Conclusion:
Remember that DV + Atmos/TrueHD stuttering bug on the early days of the Z9X Pro that got corrected by the Zidoo devs? Well seems like it's back! I remember asking you how the devs fixed that on the Z9X Pro and you answered that they just vaguely said that it was related to Atmos/TrueHD tracks. I also am pretty sure that you could not reproduce it easily back then but I think you managed to at some point.

Back then I think it was related to TrueHD tracks in general, Atmos or not. This time, it seems it's stuttering in DD+ and TrueHD Atmos so maybe it's more related to Atmos, I don't know. It seems more common on TrueHD than on DD+ but I have DV + Atmos/DD+ clips that stutters.

That lords of the ring clip stutters a lot in LLDV a lot of the time like I previously said so that's a good test clip.

Can other people with stuttering issues test the same combinations to see if they have the same conclusions please?

@Creator44 , what specific clip from lord of the rings is this? By fire do you mean the lighting of the beacons in return of the king?

I have been wondering the same thing. Why did they all go over to a chip that according to them they have already been working on for several yrs. to give us this mess on Dune and Zidoo?

You have a Panasonic TV it seems friendly with the Z9X 8K somehow. I doubt you could miss it if you had the problem, all my Atmos/TrueHD + DV movies stutter easily in LLDV. I have a Sony TV. I'm pretty sure it was not stuttering in LLDV on 1.1.70 though.

It's a small clip from someone here I need to find the link. @Markswift2003 , can you put the link again please?

Is there anyway to change the dark areas on the background movie posters, like it was before? I don't like the look of it. There should be a choice. They can't just change something and not let us be able to tweak it to how we like it.

I tried plugging in a formatted SSD with nothing on it... Zidoo won't even create a folder, it always says “failed to check write permissions”.....
I plug it into the PC: no problem....
I've even reset the Z9X...with no effect
Could Zidoo have overclamped the device... Even the android settings are restricted and many settings are hidden....

    Thanks for the new firmware!

Unfortunately I have not yet found out how to deactivate this new “vignette effect” feature. I liked the picture background function without this option better. I hope it is possible to deactivate it again.

In addition, since the new firmware I have small micro-jerks in movies with 24p per second that were not there before.

What do you have Setting / Display /Resolution at ?

Ie i set mine to 2160p @24 and have framerate and resolution off ,and i get none of the stutter issues a few others have

I chose 24fps because i used to do it at the recommended 23.997 to match most 4k movies , but while Zidoo would say 23.997 my TV always shows 24 ,so set it to match the tv
I always used 24 fps on the earlier model ranges too ,and always had none of the stutter issues there ,too

maybe something to play around with ,along with LLDV

In my case DV (Tv Led Auto) + Atmos/Truehd has no stammer. These boxes seem to be particularly conditioned by the equipment they are connected to.
