I tried your poster in my z3000's posterwall and it doesn't display it. I customize all the posters and fanart with PhotoShop and have all PNG files that display perfectly. The problem is that your file is too large to display properly. I'll send you a new file resized to 1000x1500 px. Try it and see if it works.

 

Welcome to the club. We’re all part of the experiment (beta). I checked with an LED TV, and there’s still a color issue. While it’s less noticeable on LED TVs, it’s far more obvious—or even worse—on OLED TVs. Over-sharpness, weird colors, and jerky playback seem to be common problems. I wonder if these issues will ever be resolved in our lifetime, or if they’ll persist until the new models come out next year.
I wonder if it’s an EDID issue or an HDMI handshake problem.

By the way, which OLED TV do you have?

 

I have LG G4 65

 

I bought a Z9X 8K and got it hooked up today. Was really looking forward to this system because I'm not happy with AppleTV. Unfortunately, it's going back to Amazon due to some deal breakers.

Some background:
* Updated to the latest beta release (the version in this thread)

Positives:
* AMAZING picture quality
* UI is mostly okay, but I like it

Negatives:
* Plex client does not allow for marking watched/unwatched (at least not that I can find, I tried holding and pressing the menu buttons).
* Bluetooth audio to my Bose headphones is not loud enough for my preference at max volume of 25.
* Native poster wall mismatched all 8,000+ files I have. Not going to spend the time to redo all those matches.

I'm disappointed, but I think Zidoo will in time make these boxes THE de facto home media box. I will certainly revisit in the future!

 

They should've never have released this product at this stage at least get the picture and audio to work. It's only has one job to do and it cannot do it. What is the point of this unit then?

Main one lz1500 has the z30 8k ,and theres none of the weird colours ,over sharpness or stuttery playback at all for me

what you havent stated yet is the gear used in the playback chain ie are you using a reciever or just a soundbar maybe
Theres just the one issue with 4k movies where around 45 mins ,vid will stop while audio continues ...a few have reported it so its being looked at

The only other issue was with pausing say a tv epi to go make a drink come back and hit OK and id see paused vid while audio progresses normally

This i think i fixed by removing the 3 x 1080p SS images in the Z_daydreamer folder and adding in some 2160p images ..ie first image was 2160p next 3 were 1080p ,and i think if it stepped past first image which was my native 2160p it would hdmi handshake to 1080p and cause issues
2 days so far with none of that issue since i changed it ,where it was a mutli daily issue before

 

Yes, but I have been using these same .png files for 4 years on every Zidoo box I've had; this is the only one that does not work. So it's a bug

 

It's weird how that same file worked on 2 other zidoo boxes I've had. So they downgraded their handling of image files

 

I have the Player connected directly to the TV via the HDMI so it shouldn't be any issues from the receiver and upon further watching other movies and avatar, the stuttering is almost everywhere maybe Zidoo should pay some software engineer to fix these issues you have other Chinese brands that do not have these problems this should be priority number one what is the point of buying a media player if it cannot playback media.

 

I agree. As excellent as these new boxes are, they still have too many gaps to fill. In their current state they are definitely not worth the purchase price.

 

Dont know if this related to your issue ,but a quick google found theres some weird hdmi issues ppl with G4s are having

G4 HDMI port 2 issues
Me and many other G4 owners are having issues where any video sources going into HDMI would become all scrambled , the image looks a mess . It’s an intermittent issues and only effects HDMI port 2 . So If your running all your sources to an amp and then to hdmi 2 you may have this issue .

LG has no fix for this issue to date , we don’t know if it’s hardware or software , but it’s looking more like hardware as some are not having the issue at all

posted since the issues your getting ,no one else has had anything like it ,so its your tv or your zidoo ,But not an issue with every other zidoo

this was a few months back ,didnt see any fix had been posted yet ,and the weird issues could be on other HDMI ports too

 

It doesn’t happen all the time. Sometimes I get really good picture quality, and sometimes it’s really poor. The problem is, every time I turn on the Zidoo player, the quality is different. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. If it stayed good, I wouldn’t have any problem, but there’s definitely some bug they need to work on. I’ll be happy with it once they fix it. It’s got potential.

 

Thank you for this, I was looking to upgrade my LC65CX with a LG65G4 but now I will wait until a fix from LG or an improved G5, next year.

 

update:

LG has just confirmed an existing issue with HDMI2 as described above. The testing center is Huntsville, AL has replicated the drop of video and distorted picture when switching to HDMI2. I was told that this is usually a software issue (not a hardware one) and it should be addressed shortly through a firmware upgrade expected in a few weeks. In the meantime, the way to make this go away temporarily is to either turn off the TV for a few minutes, do a hard reset, or switch to LG Channels and then back to HDMI2 which should make the problem go away.

HDMI2 issue on latest LG OLEDs was fixed months ago with a firmware update. If you still have an issue it is a fault with your TV and not a general issue

 

I have a 77G4 aswell, using hdmi 2 port from TV to Philips Hue SyncBox 8K to Denon X3800H and I've not experianced any issues.......yet finger crossed..

 

couple of other things to check
first ,if its good sometimes,bad others after a restart ,it sounds like your losing the EDID settings
Fix for this is to set all your desired settings and then set those as a custom EDID ,this will force your desired settings everytime
This is a known bug thats followed over from the Pro range

Second ,if i remember correct ,your using hdmi 1 for video and hdmi 2 for audio ?
if so , i remember that there were some Z8000 users on early threads ,doing that and having issues with stutter etc
The fix was to just run video and audio out on the main port
Simple way to check if thats part of your issues

 

One question - does it even make sense to set on 12 bits resolution when the movies are only 10 bits? My Tv is 12bits.

 

I am not using HDMI 2 as I said before I am connecting the Zidoo directly to the HDMI 1 the HDMI 2 I'm only using for audio with Earc

 

If that is the fix, then I must return the unit. I bought it only because it has two HDMI out one for video and audio and one for only audio and it's no point having Z3000pro.

 

Its not the fix ,just something to try to help eliminate where the issue is ,since no one else on the 8k forum has any thing close to your issues

if its just the EDID issue ,thats like 1 2 minutes work to set the custom edid

I know i had to set my EDID back on the earlier f/ws because of the random edid change issue which would change random display settings,which could effect the dispaly sizing and graphical image

Edit the HDMI 2 thing wasnt just on hdmi 2 ,some ppl were reporting it on hdmi 1 .
i posted the info since your issues were so weird and not something other users have reported

 

Here guys here you can see all my settings and all the issues that I'm having you can see the stuttering and you can see the aspect ratio is wrong on Civil War and the other movies and you can also hear the sound cutting off from Avatar

 

having a quick look ,youve set most things to auto rather than the recommended settings on main forum page

heres a few quick ones

Playback / Auto frame / local playback /match framerate only

The hdr DV /VS10 are more personal choice ones
the LLDV or the other methods ,same thing ...all TV dependant these just what works very well on mine

Once youve set those and are happy with them ,THEN set those as custom EDID

With no custom EDID set ,it can sometimes swap to ramdom settings ,as i said earlier

But auto set to a lot of the things plus no custom edid means LOTS of HDMI hanshaking so chance for settings to change go way up

 

I tried your settings. It still doesn't work. The movies stutter. Is there any way to return to 1.30 the stable version. And you cannot use LLDV the colors gets all screwed up

 

sadly , none. Weird 1.30 was stable for you,since it had loads of bugs ,hence all the fixes so far from there to .70
