I cannot get my unit to work with an external clock no matter what I try - the music just goes quiet until I return to the internal clock. It might be operator error , but nonetheless I am at a loss here. Can someone please assist? P.S. the clock source I am using is a Mutec MC3+USB.
1. I have no idea why the external clock may stop the unit from producing any sound. Maybe you have to somehow tell the Z10 you are using an external clock, in its settings...? 2. why in hell are you willing to use an external clock to the Z10, when it has a hugely accurate one... If it is just for experiment sake, then ok, fine...
Hi Nutul, Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried every setting you can think of, and from what I can tell all you should have to do is switch from internal to external and it should work. Providing your incoming signal is solid, of course. And the product manual is pretty much useless when it comes to this, doesn’t really address it at all. To answer your question: 2. Yes, it is experimental to hear if the sound can be improved even more. I already had the Mutec unit here and wanted to try it. Also, I’d just like to know why it isn’t working? When I pay good money for a piece of equipment I expect all of the features on that equipment to work. Does Eversolo monitor this forum? Maybe someone from there can chime in here and provide some guidance.
Just an opinion from watching a very good friend of mine AUDIO buddy, not particularly on my list at the present moment, but I have been observing him for quite some time In using external clock or re-clocking devices can be extremely tricky and amazingly very from manufacturer overall in design, I have seriously heard A very quite expensive clock or reclocker , sound absolutely terrible, I know some do make an extremely sonic difference, but for the time being, I Believe the clocks internally, speaking in use of the A8, seem to work excellent at this present time, personally speaking, they are also of excellent quality and manufacture, if you don’t mind me, perhaps over extending myself may I ask you what is it that you are looking for or trying to accomplish or is it perhaps something that’s more experimentation in specific situations of Operational changes perhaps just curious ? have a wonderful day enjoy,
Sorry everyone I believe I’m experiencing some type of operating system problems here or something or other why some of these posts keep replicating I have no idea. Sorry about that Everyone
You’re not overextending at all, I appreciate your input. Just experimentation, curiosity, and the fact that it bugs the crap out of me that it doesn’t work . I want to know why!!
I absolutely agree with your point of view I believe almost every one of us like to do or perform a bit of experimentation from time to time it certainly does keep things lively. It has also caused me somewhat of a bit of trouble also in the past, no doubt, but it is very intriguing. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just curious , thank you for your reply please have a wonderful night in your experimentation along with your music
Do you have to select the impedance somewhere, maybe it doesn't match the bnc that you have connected to ?
In very short observation in the use of external clocks or Re-Clockers as I so stated above , I have never actually obtained a unit myself, but again for watching a few others here in my part of AUDIO land it certainly seems to be or appears certain type of clocks or re clockers along with certain manufacturers, depending on what unit or units you are trying to implement them in just like other things in AUDIO in general I’ve seen a few instances where overall expectations, unfortunately, did not work out too well in some instances, I am not insinuating that perhaps one day I would like to partake myself, but at the present moment, the two very nice clocks internally in my A8, along with a few other somewhat older DACs, everything is working out well best of luck with that. Yes absolutely it can be a lot of fun just in comparison that’s totally understandable. I just don’t like problems anymore . But it really can be a lot of enjoyment a lot of fun, especially on those nights when there’s nothing to do I agree, Now you do have me thinking I have an old MYTEK 192 here, with provisions in the rear for word, clock in & word clock out perhaps I will journey into this. Maybe I better think about it. ??? please have an enjoyable day everyone along with your music
I have no idea what the ¨word clock¨ output signal actually is that this unit provides? It is not a typical external clock as I do know them. It is more a clock stabilizer and re-generator.
