    Hello,
I have upgraded from a Z1000pro to a HUD8000; however, when I change the ratio from 16:9 to 2.31:1, the movies play correctly, but the UI for the Zidoo just cuts off the top and bottom of the screen.

In the sample below, you can see the visible settings, search and filter options up top in 16:9; however, when I change to 2.31:1, they disappear.

Where could I be going wrong?

    Thanks
    Mark

    There are three modes:

Compression - This compresses the UI vertically into 2.35:1 and masks video content to 2.35:1

Screen Cover - This masks both the UI and video content to 2.35:1

Compression (GUI) - This compresses the UI vertically but leaves video content untouched

You must have yours set on Screen Cover so I'd suggest Compression is the mode you want.

    HOWEVER

There is a horrific bug in these settings that mean if you set aspect ratios to 2.35 and then return to 16:9 for example, all 2K videos are still masked and they get compressed and 4K content gets cropped at the bottom and right edges.

Also the further you dig into and change settings, the worse it gets and for example you can end up with content displaying at roughly 3.12:1 in some cases!!

This makes this function utterly unusable and the only way I've found to fix it once you're down the rabbit hole is a full factory reset.

@Eki Shaw - Hey Eki - I really think this needs either fixing or the Screen Ratio function removing completely - It's been like this for a long time and is catastrophic for users if they can't figure it out and in any event it eventually leads to the need for a factory reset. Understandably, when you invest in a top-end system, you expect full access to all its features. Unfortunately, in this case, some functions are currently cut off (hidden), making them inaccessible.

It’s fantastic to hear this will be addressed in the next release. I feel it’s critical for everything to work seamlessly in widescreen mode, after all, that’s a key reason for choosing a Zidoo over many of the cheaper alternatives that already handle this well.

A big thanks to @Eki Shaw for picking this up. I’m really looking forward to the update and the improved home theatre experience it will bring!

And to be clear Mark... this compression screen issue bug only affects the newest AML series, correct?

    Yes, only the AML series.
