Interesting; glad you found a working solution. I was going to recommend using USB instead of AES/EBU, but you apparently already found the source of the problem. -Ed
The problems you are experiencing have nothing to do with the cables / power strips; these are totally irrelevant (as you have seen in the case of the unfiltered socket). Try USB to your DAC, and I am pretty sure all these issues will disappear. Just my 2c. Cheers, Al.
Hello, yes that absolutely quite interesting. Wow, I will put that what they call in the back burner of information. You never know, I have noticed in the recent past would appear somewhat odd some higher in manufacturers of CD players and transports I have noticed there is no middle prong within the IEC connection on some of these units were in a much simpler explanation no ground center or connection just a hot and a neutral right now looking at the back of a rega CD player Again, no ground lug no metal prong just left and right I know in the early 90s there was a company that produced a super iOS Power distribution box all the digital outputs were in a row on the right hand side of the unit. Every one of them had no ground or the ground was lifted back then and those days they were calling a digital pollution. There is also a feature on near the rotate the continuity of your plug with an AC meter and an alligator clip for testing your unit to the power box if I can find a pic I will post it for the heck of it how about that? Have a nice one everyone Anyway, the name of the company had the initials PAC Which I believe stood for perfectionist Audio company and the unit was a super PAC IDOS , again, all grounds lifted on the digital side. I believe it was a 12 outlet black box with an AC meter top left-hand corner interesting. I just took a peek. Can’t seem to find it. someone here may remember it, sorry folks, I knew it had to be out there. I remember it very well and it actually did work. Also came with adapters for the end of the plugs to be able to rotate your polarity was a pretty neat piece of equipment. Nothing fancy I wish I could find one. Your particular situation reminded me very much so of the following pics They’ve out there and have a good night everyone
Sure, totally irrelevant. Filtered socket = issues, unfiltered socket = no issues and absolutely stable, but that's irrelevant Jokes aside, it must be some kind of issue in circuit-design, I agree, but as long as this simple change fixes my issue I'm all good. Though I would like to have my digital devices filtered from all the rubbish in the mains power. And USB on the DAC is already used by a different device
Adding quality (???) cables in the last metre of power line, after kilometers of raw aluminium and copper will not change anything. It might as well as propagate all the incoming disturbances... You know what? try to connect ALL your equipment to ONE wall socket. Not even two nearby, Just ONE. This will ensure a single path to earth, avoiding the most common of all evil: ground loops due to potential differences.
Hi Funkx, I been useing an isolation transformer actually it was a route of the original tice power block, which can turn outputs to a very nice stability capacitor I don’t remember the value or make without taking the top cover off, I can honestly say as after I plugged everything into the rear of the unit as for adjustments, both rocker switches down, put out a steady 118 VAC, been using it for quite a while now picked it up for pennies on a dollar at somewhat of an estate sale years ago works extremely well. I also have a lot of contractors finish. Aluminum & copper wire running through the house, years ago I put in a dedicated 20 amp breaker separate line had a friend give me some 10 gauge copper at that time. Yes only using one outlet on multiple multiple devices which go in to a DIY box that has four duplex Hosp grade Hubble outputs never had any problems or deviations sonically speaking. The isolation transformer does have its benefits. If it didn’t I wouldn’t bother with it perhaps something to think about, but that’s a very interesting scenario that you have been through. Hopefully, they’ll be no more best of luck to you now and the foreseeable future you have a wonderful night enjoy the music
My gosh, you don't get it, right? Not a cable fixed the issue but using no-filtered power sockets did and the T8 runs perfectly fine now. Via stock cable and quality (???) cable. This might be a fix others running into this syncing problem as they might use filtering power strips. You may now leave the conversation back to your ASR forum as you did not leave any useful information or any help. Cheers
Just so you know I’m not a participant of the ASR fourm I most likely never will be, but I bring no criticism upon those that do. That’s their opinion. I thought I was somewhat on track. I never used or believed in any type of power filtration system. I was simply stating the use of an isolation transformer, not a power AC filtering system. That’s a whole dog of a different breed has nothing to do with using, and an isolation transformer the word in itself means just what it is is isolation transformer I do follow exactly in your head statement. I am even in agreement with you. You may want to look into what isolation transformer actually means has nothing to do with power filtration, or dedicated power supply banks,, holy cow. Some folks on this Fourm are really dense but when you start dealing with folks in mid fi equipment, this is basically where it leaves you but you have a good night. Enjoy your transporter whatever it is you’re doing good luck no problems
Hey Biamp, Cheers, I was not referring to you, but to Nutul. Even the first words of his reply "Adding quality (???) cables" indicates ASR mindset. I don't care at all but I don't need to have conversation on this kind of level. Pure fact is, and this might help some people having sync issues: using a filtered power socket caused those sync issues, using an unfiltered socket everything was fine. No matter the cable or whatever
If there is one lesson learned from this forum, in particular and personal opinion, is one which we rely on ideas and open suggestions of agreement or disagreement with reason and not on schoolyard bravado, although we certainly do have our in decisions in one’s overall reasoning or beliefs, to meet you with ideas rather than with a heckling I certainly believe that Nutuls statement with all intense and purposes, was absolutely without doubt trying to be of help I cannot believe or condone that he would ever give anyone advice that may be contrary to what they do or what they are doing in their own beliefs whether it’s AUDIO equipment ect most of these debates have leaned in recently in this area and in many underlying areas are just downright toxic, nevertheless, cheers to you also again it’s a mid fi Audio fourm not Supreme Court technology audio petition to certainly be that decisive and narrow minded Come on give me a break in underlying street language so what’s the big deal? I certainly agree with you Eddnog ! It’s all good …
All good! I just run into this syncing problem after setting up the T8 in my system, searched for help and found this forum seeing others are suffering from the same problem. I found a solution that worked for me, maybe not for others, and posted my findings. Just mentioning expensive cables now leads to bullsunflower replies of a certain user which does not help anyone. That's just a typical ASR reaction regardless the topic. Would be helpful if others, who have the sync issue, could give some feedback if it's the same for them.
Hey you asked for HELP and you took it, regardless, who replied that’s not what’s in question here, they did not ask for help you did , I absolutely see no justifiable excuse to use ASR other than your own defending benefit. I did not interpret anyone trying to recruit you or make a believer out of you. Of course you’re entitled to your own perception in overall evaluation that went wrong. please have a nice day
Dear Dear Biamp, I didn't asked for any HELP, I posted a solution. Read and understand ... makes the difference. Audio-forums are always ...ehmm .. difficult
@Funkx if you dislike the posts from a particular contributor, you can elect to ígnore' them in your settings'. You will miss all of their posts (unless you elect to see ignored content) which might mean you miss some valuable information as well as missing the angst. Your choice. PS glad to see your issue and solution. I might not understand the science, but I don't need to at this time. Benje
No difference, technically, speaking and technical association, You voluntarily posted it a solution to your particular problem, which is contrary to the same, not exact given the benefit of the doubt without wasting any more time here as it is my most precious commodity so when you’re said experiences on your own personal level, you have decided to post an overall solution of… But yet you become bothered by some of the equations given, and from whom this is not a defensive no one most times I certainly an absolutely disagree with some of Nutuls philosophies more answers, as he does mine, he took the time to give answer, If nothing else, why criticize or is it constructive criticism? I don’t know you tell me, Please have a nice night. I must proceed on do other activities ✌️
It seems like I haven't see this issue before. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. One of my teamate shares and we're focusing on it. I'll sync the info if I got any. BTW, I'm willing to see advice and feedback including complaints, just please don't argue with the things like ASR, thanks.
The most important issue isn't the dropout sync to DAC over S/PDIF, but rather that the DAC fails to properly handle mutations by checking the IEC 60958 protocol header signal at the start of playback. While we could certainly implement special handling for such devices, we've tested many DACs and haven't reproduced the problem. Therefore, please stop complaining and ask truly meaningful questions, such as what DAC you are using.
Good morning mirror In my case I am using the auralic vega g2 When we say "drop sync" in my case goes like this: when music playing the screen of vega g2 shows sample rate and bit rate normally. When you press pause or skipping or change track next or previous then the vega screen shows "no input" untill you hear music again then shows the lock info normally. I have tested the vega g2 with several CD transports and 5 different streamers and working flawless. This occur only with T8 On the other hand despite the vega screen shows no input on music pause I have no dropout's or any other issue when music is playing and with outstanding SQ. All of these are with coaxial connection. I have tried USB also and it's the same plus one major critical issue only with USB that I have informed your R&D department months ago. The issue is this: At random times when changing between different sample rates tracks a pink noise signal is coming out not music. This issue is stopping me for using the USB. If you use only tracks with the same sample rate this issue never happens. Coaxial is flawless in this situation. For your information in the tests I have performed with other CD transports and streamers with USB and coaxial connections the vega g2 performed literally flawless everywhere. Mirror thank you very much for your attention to this issue.
