What if Zidoo had a subscription for software updates? Separate the hardware updates and media center software updates. No charge for hardware programming updates but subscription to develop the media center software.

Development of the ‘HDD 8K Media Player (AML S928X)’ has been ended. I’m sure they’re already thinking about their next releases.

Wouldn't a subscription generate a steady stream of updates for the Media Center Software??? Assuming improvements are not just cosmetics but substantial.

I have a UHD8000 and would consider a subscription to the Media Center software.

I would have never purchased a device that requires a subscription. Would not even consider it.

I'd never consider a device that requires subscription. If such a subscription model were introduced after I already purchased, I'd be asking the retailer for a full refund. That's the type of thing that triggers class action lawyers being called in - substantially changing the terms of the original agreement.

I think we can safely say this is a very bad idea and won’t happen.

Look at the animosity and alienation R_Zappitilution caused when they dumped a subscription on existing users after Zappiti went bust and they restructured.

Ok, let’s be straight about this, then. Do you think Ziddo is going to release any more updates?

Yes I do - but when - that is the question.

I can't tell you much but I can tell you that @blenky is right.

As for brain percentages, no comment.

Sounds like updates are a very low priority for Zidoo and we all wait with bated breath.
What incentive do they have to update? At least for the UHD8000 it pretty much works.

Didnt we get an OG Z9X update after the 8k's were released?

They can be slow, but feels like when you think they might have moved on, another update drops.

Just say no to subscriptions. :)
My UHD8000 has been percolating along just fine.
I don't check for updates daily, and only need them if something is broken, and not having that issue so will wait and see whassup with any new firmware or apps.

This reminds me of folks on other tech forums, asking constantly when the new update is coming ... to which I usually answer " it will come when they have it ready."
