I have installed the JellyfinZidooClient on my Z9X.

However, I cannot log into my JellyfinServer. Authentification failed. I have created User with/without Passwords. No chance.
On other JellyfinClients (FireTV oder LG-TV) no issue with log in. Also with the users I tried on the Z9X.

    Any suggestions ?

This client hasn't been supported for years - I've no idea if it even still works.

If you install the standard Android Jellyfin client you should be good.

Thanks Mark, I will give it a try.
    (For me, it’s only a Fallback-Solution for HT5.0)

Yeah - I use HT5 for 4K and Jellyfin for 2K and DVD stuff...

    Why ?

99% of what I watch in the cinema is 4K so I use HT5 in there. I've got a load of older 2K stuff and even DVDs which I occasionally watch or just have on in the background while working etc and I wanted to keep them separate, so I use Jellyfin.

What would be nice would a library selector in HT5...

Me too, because my X5000 is still performing perfect with your Gamma-Curve. ;)
In Jellyfin I have scraped all my TV-Shows, to keep HT5.0 clean

The last Jellyfin server fully supporting Andy's Client is 10.8.13. It has direct path in GUI and Zidoo player can download subtitles on the fly. With Server 10.9 things start to breakdown slowly. Version 10.10 and above has login issues and no go.
There is no quick way to roll back server version unless you have proper media database backups from the previous versions. Some of your other devices like Fire TV may have problem with new client if the server is old.
Android Jellyfin TV client works well with Zidoo as external player and current server version but it has issues with the subtitles.

If Zidoo is not supporting client apps on the older players Fire Sticks 2nd gen are excellent option with Atmos sound, HDR10+, DV and proper tone mapping if needed to HD SDR devices.

I have two Z9X players and use HT 5 for my best collection of 4K HDR and 3D disks. All the rest with HDR and 3D again goes into Jellyfin for flexibility and streaming to any other device.

Hi Mark, since updating my Zidoo Z9X 8K to 1.2.22, the Jellyfin client in versions 17.9, 18.8, and 18.9 always crashed when the movie ist finished. At the end of the movie, the frame rate change back to the UI default settings. After that crashed Jellyfin to the Zidoo UI. Can you inform the developer of this bug to fix it?

The regular android jellyfin client configured with external zidoo player is the way. Almost the best of both worlds, for instance only embedded subtitles supported due to nature of steaming, but that's about it

I use the native jellyfin client with configuration to use the external zidoo player.

This is more of a Jellyfin Android TV app issue than a Zidoo issue.
I have queried it over at the app developers Github, but they are somewhat justifiably not particularly interested in investigating it.
It only happens if the external Zidoo player is selected.
I've experienced this with every release of the JATV app I've used on this box.
For me, the app crashes when I stop playback using the 'stop' command. If I use the 'back/return' command to stop playback, the app doesn't crash.
I've mentioned this already further back in this thread, but you're the first person to report similar behaviour.
There was another annoying behaviour with this particular app, but I can't recall what it was.
I've reverted to the less than perfect built-in Zidoo Jellyfin app for the best (so far) Jellyfin playback experience.
I never had this issue with the old Realtek boxes. The JATV app worked perfectly with the Zidoo player on my old Z9X.

Not AndroidTV, just jellyfin for Android

Lastest version is 2.6.3, why I think you are using wrong type

    get directly from github.com/ jellyfin/ jellyfin-android

So, I've tried this, and it's practically impossible to navigate the app using a remote. It's just not designed to be used on TVs.
Do you have a touch screen TV?

No but I do have the remote from an Nvidia Shield, removes all the clutter buttons and just works.

The jellyfin client does require some setup to work optimally, for instance first thing I change is the sideways scrolling to vertical, this and bigger poster size, makes it very usable imo.

Spending 30 min setting up main page with your pref content also goes a long way

I'm genuinely intrigued, and will look into it further. :)

Good luck, I love this setup

The remote can be bought separately from the shield itself

External subtitles work on other devices with external players with Jellyfin client. Zidoo could fix this inside Zidoo payer with a bit of effort and coding. It's just that Zidoo player has build in subtitle download function and is not setup to negotiate with Jellyfin server regarding external subs. Too bad, it would be the best solution of both worlds.

Agreed external sub support would be ideal.

But for me this is a non-issue, because something like FileFlows (I use this one) and other similar tools can easily automate the process of moving external subs into the base mkv for streaming support

Thanks, I’m going to look into FileFlows.

The ultimate way is directly from the player the way it’s handled by Zidoo player. You can search and download subs on the fly during the movie as needed and try different versions if the first one was out of sync or wrong. Zidoo subs adjustment colour, font, position is also at the top.

Jellyfin when fully supported is not too bad at all. JellyfinTV client is a bit limited in functionality but I can use my phone to quickly select, download external subs and they are available instantly on the TV version. I don’t see why Zidoo couldn’t make this one extra step to handle subs from the server.
