Yes I am noticing this and the app is only available on the main unit not via the app so have to go back to unit each time.
Also the volume doesn’t track well what LMS reads or shows as volume level. As soon as I touch it in the LMS app and adjust 1 click it jumps up in volume massively. Anyone else get this?
I realised Squeeze Connect has material app built in if you click on the picture of the server when on squeeze connect app it opens it up so you can browse your library on the Eversolo. Spoken to support about it disconnecting on eversolo input change and they say this is expected behaviour. Not ideal but how it is I suppose. But you can just reconnect it each time using the cast function of the app and navigate to the Squeeze Connect app section.
Also when using Eversolo app if you click on the bottom left icon in it opens up material skin in a browser window or I guess what ever skin you might be using in LMS. Liking these little touches.
@bob and @Support-Kim we seem to have a major bug with Squeeze Connect. The volume control doesnt sync back to LMS properly and ends up with the device volume and LMS volume out of sync and this results in jumping up levels at random times which seems to be when new tracks start but had it at other random times. If you use touch volume in LMS controller it will also jump to a higher level from where it is. I am using a Volume limit as I cant trust it not to go to 100% which is what it feels its trying to do as it goes to the top of my volume limit. This really needs looking into please as there is no way to bypass the app control for volume as it will try and resync to this high level. It feels like Squeezelite volume control isnt working correctly.
I reported this a while back. It is mainly an issue for me at startup as LMS and the A6 try to sync volume between each other, and I will then get a sudden jump in volume. Because of this I am only really able to use the A6 volume control once it has started up to stop this happening every time you change volume in LMS. It would be nice if this was fixed.
Glad it’s not just me but sad it’s not been looked at. What it appears to be doing in my case is jumping to what would be 100% volume if it’s not for the volume limiter stopping it, which is very bad. I worked this out by increasing the volume limit I have in place and it then jumped to this volume and the next level I tried. So feels like the volume implementation isn’t right and it’s falling back to full output. I’d have likely blown my speakers and send amp into overload if that happens as it’s high sensitivity amp that only takes 1.22v for full volume of 250w. @Support-Kim and @bob this really needs looking at by development. I have also put in an after service email.
It would be nice to get a proper native Squeeze Connect app on the A6 that syncs properly, can be started up from the home screen, and is easy to navigate on the A6. I know that you can get through to the Material Skin browser underneath, but this is very fiddly to use on the A6's touchscreen, and an interface like the old Squeezebox Touch had to navigate would be a huge improvement.
Can’t say the I would want that navigating on the touch screen is bad for any app it wasn’t great on the touch either I always used my phone to navigate or used a 3rd party app. Using material on phone or tablet is far better and you get all the nicer touches to navigating which you can’t get on the old Jivelite layout on the Touch. Do you really want to sit in front of the unit to find music? Rather be sat in my chair and not have to move.
Yes I mainly use my phone, but if others want to use it (family and friends) that either don't have a phone or not one that is connected to my LMS server, at least they could navigate using the screen on the Squeezebox Touch. Also having an A6 in my kitchen, it can be much quicker to interact with the touchscreen that pull out my phone and fire up Squeezer.
Fair enough but I doubt Jivelite can be easily ported to run on Android but if they wanted to do they could develop an app that talks to LMS API like the older Android apps do. But it’s a lot more work and I guess it depends on how many users actually would use it or want it.
I was pretty sure that Jivelite can run on Android, as I have seen lots of people using it on a spare Android tablet as a display for LMS? To be clear it doesn't have to be Jivelite, but that does seem like the obvious choice. Neither my wife nor children want to have to use a phone and an app to control something that has a touchscreen, and coped fine with my old Squeezebox Touch streamers, so having this basic functionality would be a huge benefit.
Can’t see anything on Android when I searched, I guess someone might have ported it but no native support where there is for other platforms. I’m more concerned over Squeezeconnects stability than anything else as it’s a bit flakey. It just randomly crashes for me and seems and the audio jumping level is so annoying. If using it in fixed 100% not something you would notice but when using as a preamp it’s very noticeable.
I wish the app could stay connected to as it always disconnects on source change. Not sure why as other devices that run squeezelite don’t have this issue.
Hello all. Thank you for your patience, we are working on this. Could you please confirm the volum level on the Squeeze on your PC?
Not sure what you mean here. Currently the volume control in LMS doesn’t map fully to the range available on the DMP-A8 or does it move correctly when you alter volume via the DMP itself. If you have a volume limit set. On my system currently volume limit is set at -32db. Most listening is around -40 to -34 depending on the recording. When using LMS volume to adjust the output it stops changing the level on the DMP at below 50 on its scale which will be -32 on the DMP. If you change the volume limit then this will alter how far the LMS volume goes before it stops having any affect. This volume should map to the full volume available to it not stop half way. Changing volume using DMP-A8 doesn’t always alter the volume shown in LMS so it stays at the volume it was in the app or sometimes just gets set to 64 in my scenario. If you try and use the LMS volume it often just goes straight to max volume. So I believe this is the reason it’s then snapping up as LMS is at a level that would set DMP to the max volume limit. If the volume limit was off I feel it would have potential to max out at full volume and damage amp and speakers. I can manually lower volume in LMS but when you alter it maybe later on the DMP again the levels get all out of sync and the issue will happens again next time Squeeze Connect is used.
I have experienced a volume sync issue between LMS and the A6: Setting the volume in LMS to -100 showed -100 on the A6, and setting the volume to -100 on the A6 showed -100 in LMS. Doing the same at 0 also showed the same on both, so maximum and minimum volumes sync correctly. Setting the volume to around 1/4 in LMS: The A6 displayed -65, but then setting the volume to -65 on the A6 resulted in an LMS volume of -45.5, so not matching. Setting the volume to around 1/2 in LMS: The A6 displayed -35.5, but then setting the volume to -35.5 on the A6 resulted in an LMS volume of -25.5, so not matching. Setting the volume to around 3/4 in LMS: The A6 displayed -13, but then setting the volume to -13 on the A6 resulted in an LMS volume of -8.5, so not matching. It looks like both extents of the volume range are correct, but everywhere else across the range doesn’t match. This might be a difference between the scales on the A6 and in LMS (log vs linear perhaps?), but even if the numbers are not the same on each scale, the mapping between the two should always remain consistent. At the moment they jump around. This also means that the A6 doesn’t start up at the same volume it was turned off at, as it is syncing with the LMS volume and the mismatch is causing it to change. If I don’t touch the volume control and start up the A6, it keeps increasing the volume as it syncs with LMS. This is also problematic as if you use LMS to change the volume after setting in on the A6, this mismatch can cause the volume to suddenly and unexpectedly jump with only a small change in the setting. This issue needs fixing and it should be reproducible. My assumption is that a native Squeeze Connect app on the A6 would fix this sync issue, allow the user to start Squeeze Connect from the home screen, enable better navigation using the screen on the A6, and mean that the service doesn't disconnect when changing sources.
Are you using the A6 as a preamp to a poweramp? With my A8 its direct to my poweramp as my Amp has high sensitivity so 100% out of DMP would overload it as its a higher voltage than the Amp, so I maintain a volume limit within Eversolo software to prevent it. This then causes it to map even more incorreclty, which it should scale automatically to always map 100 on LMS to what the max volume on the DMP A8 is configured to allow but it doesn't.
I use the A6 as a digital preamp, using the A6's volume to control its digital output straight into a set of active speakers.
