Hi, What is the quality SPDIF audio X8 / X9S? What is the highest sampling rate for 2.0 channel? Is it only a 44.1 / 48 kHz? Can SPDIF 2.0 release ..... 96/192 kHz? 16bit? 24bit?

  3. Good question. I would like to know it too. Can we play 192kHz-24bit music with the same (untouched) SPDIF output directly to A/V Receiver?

SPDIF officially supports 20-bit max with 24-bit being optional. So results may vary, but 24 bit is fairly commonly found today. In general Coaxial output is far superior to Toslink as surprising as that may sound (upper bandwidth, jitter, cable distance maximum).
Provided both ends support 24-bit then 192 Khz LPCM should work, that is to say in Stereo (2 channels) for multi-channel 48 Khz is max (mostly). Also only standard (=base) DD and DTS sound is supported via SPDIF.

Exceptional beyond standard bandwidth specs do exist on mainly exotic (=expensive) equipment. Be aware this must be available at both ends to work.

Bottomline it is time to move to HDMI (1.4a at least for HQ MCH sound). I plan to upgrade my AMP once more when HDMI 2.1 is avaiable for passthrough of various new Audio/Video formats. This way I will skip the HDMI 2.0 upgrade.

  5. So, is there any way how to play 24-bit 192 KHz music through HDMI without downsampling (or decoding) to 48 KHz? I mean sending (passthrough) bit-perfect (native) signal from audio player directly to my A/V receiver. I have tried many audio players, including lates KODI, Neutron etc. and the output is always 48 KHz. No matter if I used HDMI, SPDIF or optical output.
If I play 24/192 music on original Zidoo Audio Player 2.0, there is no problem - output is the same as input. But this audio player is quite useless.

That shows the HW does the job. There are many audio players for Android but these are all designed for Smart Phones not Media Players.
I am using the crummy music players provided with the various media players but none is really good. Egreat just announced its new media player with at least support for HQ audio inclusive SACD. The features provided are still simple but that does not bother me too much. X20 should come with a new Audio Player too.

SPDIF is originally 20bit max but manufacturer are able to increase to 24bit. For example my vizio TV update firmware (a while ago) to expand optical output passing from DD to DD+. Since then I can use the optical for more format. There is less restriction in HDMI but since ARC is not realy reliable like CEC I stand with passthrough with optical.

  8. Thank you for giving me some hope. I'm really desperate because of this problem of all players.

    SPD-IF support 4Mbit max (PCM 96K 24Bit = MLP 192K 24bit), MLP (Meridian Lossless Packing)
    Zidoo X8 SPD-IF suport MLP 192K 24bit 1:1 with rot firmware+ ALSA PLAYER= stream audio 1:1 external dekode
