USB is always your best choice. It then depends on your PC offering. coax or optical are good choices too, but USB is far superior, due to its asynchronous peculiarity, and higher bandwidth, aka higher sample-rate / bit-depth support.
Huh? It is becoming weird A pc playing foobar2000, outputting to eversolo over dlna and the eversolo outputting to usb-dac? why not: PC -> usb dac. Skip the eversolos.
That's what I was suggesting. Just that the DAC would be the one in the Eversolo itself. Then it always depends on your room geometry, and distance between the devices...
Their a few ways to go about it, I would suggest experimenting a little bit. Take your time and listen. Picked a hook up. That sounds best to you an overall sonic performance.. sometimes it may not be ideal, but the best sonics I believe is what you more than likely would want to choose, I practiced this myself sometimes I will put a device before sometime. I will put it after now of course all depending on what you’re trying to hook up and accomplish. Best of luck with that. I myself use USB luckily the few external DACs that I have do accommodate this future, It works out pretty well but sometime I do believe it is questionable when I go back to a good or decent coax SPDIF cable Don’t want to confuse you as long as the cable is within the proper ohms, in which sometime there are differences sonically, With the one that I’m using USB can sound a little hard sometime on the top end, but not on the standard SPDIF coax. Although not wanting to do so experimenting with different configurations is worth it most of the time.. there you go have a good night and enjoy
Wait, maybe there's some confusion that I probably created, unfortunately I'm using a translator......So I would like to use the Eversolo mainly for two reasons, one streaming and therefore I think I'll get a subscription to Qobuz or Tidal, then since I have several DSD files in wavpack that unfortunately the Eversolo doesn't support I would like to connect it to a PC via USB and use it as an external DAC while on the PC I use foobar.....
You have it there. I’m old school. I run to channel Audio only with dedicated subs running in the summed mono mode anywhere from 60 to 100 DB at 18 DB per octave naturally, depending on the frequency role I have found with supposed to be is not always correct sonically it never hurts to experiment you’ll be surprised. Make sure you turn your equipment on and off you. You’ll be surprised many many factors depending. Try to stay away from any type of adapters if possible I would rather have a cable with the necessary end technically, preferably hardwired onto the cable itself naturally, sometimes you can’t be helped adapters do come in handy just for experimentation purposes to myself. It’s actually a whole science you could work in the lab all night and come out with the same conclusion, but absolutely try different set ups.
Of course. You can always pass multichannel to the Eversolo via USB, but since it cannot do bit-by-bit routing to its HDMI out, you'll never get it to your HT multichannel system. I think it was clear from the beginning that we are talking stereo, here. Nevertheless, even via DLNA / UPnP, there is no way to achieve that. One last thing, if I may be allowed to be of help: ffmpeg is your friend: you can extract the DSFs from the wavpack, transfer them to the Eversolo, and play them (from the Eversolo, I mean) through its HDMI to your HT in multichannel; if that's what you may want. And if you own a DMP-A6*, as all the others don't do HDMI MCh.
Dmp a6 receives a 8 channel dlna stream and outputs it to hdmi as downmixed to 6 channel. The zidoo (z3000) does 8 channels to hdmi.
I believe that is per-specification in the A6, its HDMI can hadle up to 6 channels (the classic 5.1 so to speak)
However, this product supports practically everything, I don't understand why it is so difficult to implement DSD in wavpack..... Also I don't understand one thing, if I have a multichannel DSF in my NAS can't I transmit it via HDMI to my multichannel system?
You have been answered a lot of times already: continuing to complain won't make your wish come true. I'll add just a couple of words. 1. wavpack is a container. a compressed one. Although it can contain everything, it is not meant (or thought to) conatin DSD in either DSF ot DFF form. just because some funny fellow has done it once, and some other fellows had supported him in this sillyness, does not imply that everybody, now, is ought to follow the path. 2. extract the DSF content from the wavpack: ffmpeg -i myfunnypackeddsd.wv mystandardfile.dsf Good to go. In other words, do not blame everybody for your mistakes. Nobody sells DSD in wavpack on the internet. Nobody. So, wherever you might have gotten the file from... ask there if there is a DoP or D2P (that is, a PCM'd version) of it, and save yourself a lot of headaches. (This, of course, if cannot even get the true DSD out of the wavpack by the command I described above...) HTH
There's no need to get angry, I just asked for something civilly. If I can't get it, my life goes on anyway. I really don't understand your resentment towards this format, as it's a great thing in my opinion. You basically have DSD without any data loss and 40% less weight. It's like WAV or FLAC. Which would you prefer between the two? Definitely FLAC, like practically all of them. It's true that no one sells them, but they can easily be obtained from a DSF or DFF file. It's like compressing a WAV into FLAC, nothing more. Anyway, let's leave it at that. If there's no support, well, I'll just have to deal with it.
I do not get angry because you use wavpacks to encapsulate DSDs. I do because of the following two things: 1. it is not a recognised and supported container for DSDs 2. you are somehow asking Everolo to support it (hence contributing to the widespread of an uncommon and non-standard format) Personally, I don't use DSD (for personal technical reasons that might upset you even more, so I keep them for myself), and indeed prefer FLAC over WAV (for space reasons, and also because of the standard tagging format it supports, which WAVs, despite everybody using the RIFF container - it is limited, and extending it results, again, in non-standardised formats getting into everybody's hands... - was not meant to be tagged in the first place, as are DFFs vs DSFs in the DSD domain, so to speak) I know, I am a purist, and as such I would greatly appreciate everybody becomes one, to keep from creating new formats every day, or corrupting existing ones at the same pace. Nothing personal; I know sometimes I answer rudely, but it is not intended (never intended) to be personal. Cheers, Al.
Hey Nutul, please don’t take the below statements in myself, trying to make this subject more relevant Or Literally then it has been, I do know, and I am aware of there are a few differences between the Eversolo A6 And the DMP A8, we do have a fellow here that is into this DSD streaming file program, etc., however, I was under the assumption and the belief, although I do not partake as yourself also that the Eversolo units were basically all set up and ready to go with no problems or hassles and using the DSD I myself basically use FLAC as you stated, just for my own general knowledge if this is so then what is the obstacle here if one wishes to use DSD as advertised , I am just at wonder again where the problem or problems initiate in regards to these units ? thank you for your time and explanation. If you care to reciprocate on this, I appreciate thank you again please have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the music.
I received the DMP-A6 Gen2 this evening. I'm trying to figure out how it works, but it seems like a great product. I have a few questions. I turned it off using the app, but the light around the volume knob remains on. Is this normal? Since I use a stereo amplifier connected to the Eversolo via the unbalanced outputs, I selected Passthrough in the options because I control the volume with the amplifier, thus disabling the Eversolo's volume. Right? The much-discussed Wavpack files with dsd DO PLAY, but only in PCM and not in native DSD like Foobar, Jeriver, etc...But if they play at all, it's already a good thing, and I'm happy with that. I think it only takes a small change to get them to play in DSD, and I'd be happy with that, but at least this way it's already a good thing.
The ringlight around the volume knob stays on because you are in standby rather than totally powered off, it will go out if you switch it off completely at the rear. Volume passthrough ON means max volume and you control at the amplifier, correct.
The drivers I need to install on Windows 11 to use it as a DAC are the ones I find here, 5.58.0? https://www.eversolo.com/Support/release_apk.html
Hi JamOne, sorry I would assume in a particular way I am, certainly deviated off your specific topic are you using a 2 CH AMPLIFIER , just wondering if perhaps you may be able to share with me are you using a dedicated audio amplifier, or are you using an integrated amplifier perhaps, Or a unit of different origin example maybe a processor/ amplifier Ect , Purely out of curiosity thank you in advance for your time and reply if you would, Just gathering a bit of statistical information no particular reason purely out of general knowledge, please have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your music Thank you for time either way no problems
