I have been experiencing a recurring issue with my Zidoo Z1000 Pro. Every few days, while watching a movie, playback suddenly stops and the device appears to shut down by itself.

The front panel power button changes from blue to red, indicating that the unit has turned off. However, the front panel display does not turn off. Instead, it remains lit and continues to show the last information that was displayed before the shutdown.

I have configured the display to show the remaining playback time, so after the shutdown it stays frozen showing the remaining time left in the movie.

When I power the device back on—either using the remote control or the front panel power button—the frozen display finally turns off, the device boots normally, and then works perfectly without any issues. The problem only reappears after a few days, again during movie playback.

Additional information:

The issue occurs randomly (approximately once every few days).

It only happens during video playback.

After restarting, the device operates normally until the next occurrence.

The front panel display remains frozen instead of turning off together with the device.

Has anyone experienced the same issue, or does anyone know what could be causing it? Could this be a firmware bug, a hardware problem, or perhaps an issue related to power management?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the sleep timer just in case. Turn it off.

The source is most often my Asustor AS6604T 4-bay NAS, although I'm not completely sure whether it may have happened once or twice while playing a movie from the internal drive as well.
I'll try disabling HDMI CEC and the Screen Saver to see if that makes any difference. If that doesn't solve the problem, I can perform a factory reset, or even install an earlier firmware version to check whether the issue is related to the latest firmware.

This firmware is well tested now - I really don't think it's a firmware issue. In fact I'd go as far as to say this is definitely not a firmware issue.
