    Hey Guys,
Ever since I've installed the Beta 1.0.65 on my Z9X Pro, the Subtitle Download Page takes as much as 30 seconds to show the download options, or many times just fails to show any option at all! And most times fails to download the shown available subtitles! Any thing I can do to fix this? Did not have any issues in the Final Firmware 1.05 at all!
    Thanks!

Did you ever get this resolved? If so, was it a setting on the Zidoo or the Lumagen? I ask as I’ve ordered a Z9X Pro to replace my Zappiti Neo, which is connected to a 5348 LRP. No such issues. I too use MKV and many older ISO rips.

The issue seemed to have been resolved with the latest beta firmware (.65) and may have even been fixed with the prior beta (.60). However, I don't think it had anything to do with the Lumagen. The problem was sourced in the Zidoo, but again, is fixed for me.

Glad it worked out. What's been your impression of the Zidoo compared to what you used before? Cannot recall if it was a Zappiti Neo or something else.

Also, did you deviate from the recommendations at the top of this thread? If so, what worked with the Lumagen?

By the way, how do you map network shares / folders in the Zidoo? Seems I can’t find detailed documentation on how that is done. No problem on the NAS side of things, as I’m guessing what I’ve already set up on my Synology will work for the Zidoo.

While the Zappiti had some advantages, overall, I am happier with the Zidoo. The posters on the Zidoo are so much easier to customize, as it accepts more file types. I also like the ability to customize widgets. Movie scraping was excellent for me, but also was very good on the Zappiti. The poster wall is faster on the Zidoo even though I was using a local server for the Zappiti. The Zappiti's PC app was better than the web access for the Zidoo.

I think I mostly used all the settings recommended on this thread. Can't remember exactly. I personally don't care if the upscaling is done by the Zidoo or the Lumagen. Somewhere in this thread, not too long ago, I think I even asked for suggestions in using the Zidoo with a Lumagen.

If you are wanting to utilize internal storage on the Zidoo and make it accessible to other devices (like a PC), you need to be running betas .60 or .65, which fixed the prior problem.

Thanks. I've only run into a few problems with the Zappiti of late (with the new subscriber-only app). They involve identifying films and videos, some of which are even screwed up in TMDB. And w/o IMDB, or an as yet to be offered web-based access to fix these, it's a pain.

I’m quite surprised Samba is “broken”. That’s pretty basic stuff, unless the firmware isn’t able to support early versions or 3.x.

My Synology NAS sources have been mounted via NFS, so that shouldn't be an issue I expect.

Coming from the Zappiti Neo, and never bothering with the need or desire for any noisy internal storage, I decided on the Z9X Pro. It just left Futeko in the UK for my home.

I will go with the settings described in the forum. And since neither the LRP nor the JVC projector I use supports DV, I’ll be avoiding that.

The settings that I’m uncertain about are the playback frame rate matching and resolution. Pretty sure I don’t want the Zidoo to mess with resolution. However, I’ve sometimes run into issues with frame rate and Genlock on the LRP. How have you set these up on e Zidoo and LRP?

Comments like "Samba is broken" are very misleading and open ended.

As a client, access to SMB shares have always been fine but there was an issue with the internal Samba server which meant that in certain circumstances, certain SMB shares on the box were not accessible by external clients. This has now been fixed.

Good to know. I suppose, as with much tech these days, I'll need to become intimately familiar with the firmware/software update process for the Zidoo. If you have a link on that subject I'd appreciate it. I have a feeling it's not simply online via the Zidoo but might involve download and manual transfer, etc.

The latest is always posted as a sticky in this forum. OTA is occasionally used, but usually it's simply a download.

Sorry about that, as the language was originally mine. I should have been more precise in my statement but was typing quickly and trying to make the point that the issue was now fixed.

    I have edited my post.

I get the impression the Zidoo players see many firmware updates. Is there a the proper procedure for all updates applying updates?

And does the process for mounting network based sources of movie and other folders require pointing to IP addresses of NAS volumes and specific folders, or does the Zidoo just scan the local network and you pick which folders you want it to scan?

Don't worry - I wasn't casting aspersions at all, I know how frustrating it is when these devices don't do what they're supposed to do.

Take a look at the youtube vid linked below. I haven't watched it in detail but it looks as if it covers setting up HT4.

Thanks. Nice video. The only thing missing for me is how you would do a search in your library by say an actor or director. When you've got a huge collection that's certainly a worthwhile feature. How is that done?

I just bought z9x pro. It's the next player after egreat a5 and I have a problem with DV content. I connect it directly to Yamaha a1080 and next to Sony xh9096 known as x900h.
    Settings:
    Playback/Automatic frame rate/Frame rate mode: off *

    Display/Resolution: 3840x2160p 23Hz **

    Display/Color Settings/4K 50~60Hz: Priority YUV422 12BIT
    Display/Color Settings/4K 23~30Hz: Priority YUV444 12BIT
    Display/Color Settings/Non-4K: Priority YUV444 12BIT
Display/Color Settings/Deep Colour compatibility mode: Turn Off
Display/Color Settings/HDMI Signal format: Enhanced format

    Display/HDR: Auto ***

With HDR content everything is okay, but when I play DV, the player changes framerate to 60hz. Why? I set it up as 23hz. The movie is 23.936hz. Why did the player change it to 60hz? After I stopped the movie the player froze and I needed to turn it off and on.
When I set the automatic framerate on, and then started DV movie, the screen flashed black and set the framerate to 23.936. But then the colour settings go 422 12bit - not 444 12bit. Why?

Why it does do something that it is not supposed to?
    Wrong settings or what?
To compare both players the zidoo has a brighter and more colourful screen, but it's not as sharp as on egreat a5. Strange

I don't think there is an option to search by actor or director. The closest thing is to click on director or cast member from the list on main movie page in HT4. This it takes you to their personal history. That page will show you all movies and TV shows you have for that person.

Not sure on the 422 v 444 but I would always keep match frame rate on.

    Weird.

Your settings are all to cock for a start. Use the recommended ones.

You say "when I play DV, the player changes framerate to 60hz"

Then you say "When I set the automatic framerate on, and then started DV movie, the screen flashed black and set the framerate to 23.936"

    Which is correct?

"But then the colour settings go 422 12bit - not 444 12bit. Why?" Because Player Led DV is 12-bit 4:2:2.

Maybe my language is not good enough to explain. Both are true. Settings for HDMI are 4k23hz - automatic framerate off. DV file with native 23.96 is played by a player with 60hz. When I stopped the film and changed in settings to automatic framerate on, then when I tried to open DV file native 23.96hz the screen flashed on black and played the movie with 23.96hz. Why it change every 23.96 dv file to 60hz if automatic framerate is off and HDMI I set to 23hz?

So should I change it to standard DV (TV LED)? Or it will be worse?
