Recommended Settings and other useful stuff for RTD 1619BPD Players (HT PDF Complete Rewrite Aug 26)

Its been 4 days I've got my Z9X pro but not happy with any of the PQ tweaks.

In the display settings. However, I've tried this, and it still does a hdmi handashake when starting to play a 23.976 Hz file.

 

Just set Resolution to 3840x2160p @ 23Hz

And switch "Lock Resolution" on for good measure.

 

HDMI will resync on a change or Resolution and/or HDR mode and/or frame rate, so at least one of those is changing. Probably HDR mode.

 

Some older displays will support the likes of 4K 10/12-bit 4:2:0 and 12-bit 4:2:2 at 60Hz even though the EDID doesn't advertise this. This setting allows these modes even if the EDID says it doesn't.

For an HDMI 2 device this setting makes no difference because these modes are supported anyway. For the majority of HDMI 1.4 devices, switching it on and invoking such a mode will generate no signal.

Hello everyone I am new here and have a problem:

Sorry that my English is not good I use a translator.

I have downloaded a film as mkv to my hard drive with the sound format DTS-HD Master Audio

And played it with the Zidoo Z9X Pro.

But it only plays DTS-5.1 Core.
But the Zidoo video information says DTS-HD.
Even my receiver (Yamaha) only shows DTS.

I have set the Zidoo to Auto in the Audio - HDMI Audio settings.
I then set it to RAW and was able to use DTS-HD MA.
For whatever reason.

I had done a software update to the new v1.0.60

Previously it had done this when I still had v1.0.52 on it.

Could it be that the new v1.0.60 has a BUG?

Why it does not play DTS-HD when HDMI audio is not set to Auto.

Can you help me.

Hey Mark, with new update 1.0.65 that sorted HDR and specially Dolby vision too warm/yellowish color But Still Dolby vision is not like a dolby vision yet.
Now I have correct colors and detail in HDR as it should be. But still lacking in 1080P upscaling and colors.

"My views on Zidoo Z9X pro"

Its just a media file player for a projector and may not be for High end TVs as they already support all the media files.
I did not noticed any PQ improvement with my 6 yrs old LG OLED TV. TV's internal hardware is capable enough of playing all the rips and mkv files so before having zidoo I was simply directly connecting Hard drives to my TV and its all good to go.
I was expecting some PQ improvement with zidoo but it failed.

So how come Zidoo is better?
Does it really process better?

 

yes I know lock resolution thought specifically for the GUI you mean another setting. resolution is locked but as Gandalf I'm also having new handshakes if not jumping from within the episode directly to the next episode.

for me that's not so critical I have other topics I'm interested in see in my wishlist..

but anyway no one from zidoo will ever check that forum here so I'm not maintaining anymore bugs or ideas

Resolution Lock is only specific to rebooting the device.

 

funny as pq improvement was really something I was pushed into and very surprised (Dolby vision mkvs, coming from shield pro 2019 didn't know that this is even possible, thought digital data is digital data... )

im more about usuablity and stressfree environment and that is something the zx9pro has so much room for improvement (or better getting the basics right) imho..

with the pq I'm quite happy

 

yes sure. all good. the term GUI lock was used, for me that was misleading, that's why I asked where this setting is.

and I thought resolution lock means whatever the file (maybe 1080p23hz) the z9 will send out the data via hdmi in that specific resolution like 2160p 23hz if set to this.

so some kind of upscaling engine, that's what I thought.

 

Ok, got it. No, it doesn't work like that.

So when you set Display/Resolution you are just setting the resolution and frame rate of the GUI.

How videos behave depends on how you set Playback/Auto frame rate.

You should **always** set at least "Match Frame Rate" on. Whether you want to set Match Resolution as well depends on whether you want the Zidoo to up/downscale or the display.

Lock Resolution forces the GUI resolution you have set at startup, but that will depend on the EDID - if the EDID at boot doesn't allow it (eg TV isn't on) then it will revert to something like 1080p60 as a base setting.

playback set to match frame rate only
display set to don't lock resolution

works for me. handshakes or no handshakes I don't care. as written would be much more helpful to have all episode info available in the episodes, correct subtitle downloads, actor pics available in the player, the resume function working...
