Yes, you can assign it to up/down keys in Settings/Playback/Function Keys

Nice, I'll try that tom. How many assignable keys are there? Thanks.

What exactly does saving 'Backup' do compared to the above?
How would the 'Backup' be used? After following your instructions above there will be no reason for me to use the 'Backup'?

Backup saves a copy of the SQLite database and associated settings and Restore, well, restores it.

Backup and Restore requires that paths remain the same because they are coded into the database.

Thank you for your reply! First of all I'm sure HDR to SDR is done via VS10 engine - if not the colour would be so far off, and I also saw the VS10 logo when I started playback.
My issue is the quality of HDR to SDR conversion, skin tone looks really bad and picture is dim and saturation is low.
One thing that I'm not sure: my setup is very old when HDMI is still at version 1.3a, I currently choose YUV422 12bits not sure if it's the right choice.
One more experiment I did is to turn of VS10, and the result is worse than VS10. Below I attached 2 screenshots with VS10 turned off and then on. On photo the brightness looks the same, but the top one without VS10 is much dimmer.
It just feel some colour information is lost and skintone is very cold. I recall Z9X produced more vivid picture and skin tone looked better.

Edit: I also think the brightness of SDR output in some scene is too high for projector, is there any setting that I can tweak tonemapping to make it dimmer? This could also be the cause of more flat colour representation.

Apart from my settings what else is saved?
I thought the backup would save everything including all current posters and with a click of a button (if anything goes wrong) everything would be back to how it was originally.
I'm trying to work out when I would use this backup.

As I say, the SQLite database and relevant settings in HT. Poster images are not saved. When a restore is performed the posters are re-downloaded from the internet.

12-bit 4:2:2 is definitely the right colour sub sampling mode - with HDMI 1.3 the only other option is 8-bit and that introduces banding.

Not sure what to suggest other than checking brightness/contrast/colour settings.

Check first on the TV and then on the Zidoo. Generally you leave all settings default on the Zidoo and adjust on the TV but if the TV is ok with other sources then you may have to resort to adjusting on the Zidoo.

  10. For my 422 12 bits, in HDR it causes frame loss

Colour subsampling mode can only cause HDMI sync or signal issues if the chosen mode exceeds the HDMI chain bandwidth.

12-bit 4:2:2 at 4K23~30 is a special HDMI mode that uses HDMI 1.4 speeds, so rarely causes issues. 4K60 4:2:2 on the other hand requires the full bandwidth HDMI 2.0 and can cause problems.

Just to add to my last reply - I just tested a few HDR10 and DV (Profile 7 and 5) files both natively and with VS10 SDR enabled on my Samsung flatscreen. I can honestly say there is very little, if any, difference and the VS10 SDR reproduction is very very close to the native one. Obviously with some tortuous test patterns you'd see the difference, but subjectively, with real world content, any differences are negligible in the content I used.

Brightness, Contrast and Colour on the Zidoo are set to default (50). This is using a Z9X 8K.

Hi @Markswift2003, I just recently upgraded my zidoo from the 1000 Pro to the Z3000 Pro and wanted to know if you have a recommended settings for it or can link me to one?

    cheers

@Robert17 I don’t see this setting in the AI image process setting -
    Display/AI image process/AI image enhancement: Off (6)
    Am I missing something?

    I’m on 1.2.40 firmware

    It's now called AI PQ.

I've changed the first post to reflect the new name.

If only someone had created a post called "Recommended Settings and other useful stuff for AML S928X Players" and put a section in it called "HT5 Web Interface Password Recovery".
