Hey, I have a medium to high end pre Amp from the '80. I would like to buy a Eversolo A8. 1) Does the A8 have a line out, so i can connect to A8 to a pre Amp? 2) Is the pre Amp function of good quality compared whit a 40 years high end preamp. 3) How is the sound quality of Hi Res streaming (24 bit from Tidal or Quboz) compared to CD or SACD? Thanks
1) You can set passthrough or variable output volumes on both RCA and XLR. Moreover, in case of variable output you can set maximum and starting volume limits 2) The quality is very good anyway, considering that your device is 40 years old I think it will be even better 3) I haven't listened to Quboz but I have listened to Tidal and I listen to Apple Music. I think it mostly depends on the mastering and not on the media, I have enough CDs / SACDs that sound better than streaming but also others that sound worse, you can't have all the albums you want so without streaming is hard to live today. I last compared Tidal and Apple last year and I prefer Apple, it seems to me that they sound a little better and they also have some very good HiRes Apple Digital Masters . The best thing is that Apple give a free month of trial so you can see which one you like better
I would tell you buy one or order one seriously , and I’ll tell you why you have 30 days to give that A8 a full run on everything that you were personally looking for if you decide it’s not working out for you send it back and you’re done with it. , I have a buddy of mine that did this exact samething approximately six months ago after the third week he decided it was not for him so he contacted I believe it was Smith HIFI up near Washington state on the Canadian border line Make sure you allow yourself ample time for the unit to ship back. you can go wrong with that proposition. Get it in. Enjoy it. See what it does see if you like it or not now it’s not perfect. I don’t own anything that really is. I think you’ll wind up keeping it. try it out and see best way to do that. Good luck happy listening enjoy it You got nothing to lose with the exception of a little minor inconvenience. As far as a 40 year-old preamp, that’s a very good question, there is a gentleman that left a comment somewhere on this board that went on to STATE. He purchased a $2000 R2 R preamp and was a little taken back with it due to. I remember his statement saying that the preamp in the Eversolo A8 sounds better than the dedicated R to R preamp that he recently purchased That’s my take on it, however good luck seriously, and many happy hours of listening..
