If you were an Australian customer you'd be considered lucky that the unit failed just inside the statutory 1 year warranty period. That's all we are entitled to here down under unless the manufacturer or the dealer offers otherwise.
Six year warranty - now that's impressive. :) Which dealer is this?
I hope you get your unit back soon.

Hopefully the replacement PSU is going to resolve the issue. Look on the bright side. In your case you've got an additional five years of consumer protection against failures through an impressive dealer warranty to back it up should you have any further issues with you unit. In five years time I'm quite sure there might well be something a lot more impressive on the market from eversolo or another manufacturer. You never know....

    My second one died!!!

What the hell!!! If anyone here can put me in contact with who I need to speak to please let me know. Otherwise I will go through the whole ordeal AGAIN.

Something is seriously wrong here. Power supply or maybe even just a damn fuse. Why there is no external access to the main PS fuse I can’t imagine.

    FFFFFFFF!!!!!!!

Contact your dealer. Again. If you're still unhappy, get it fixed, then sell it. Buy a different brand.

And, contact Kim@zidoo. I'm sure she'd be interested in getting additional details from you.

Did you get the first one "fixed", or were you given a new one in replacement? If the 2nd, chances are, you got one from the same batch...

Okay, playing the devil's advocate here but these Gen2 power supply failures are starting to sound like a broken record. Speaking from an electronics tech point of view, automatic voltage detection linear power supplies are IME an unreliable PITA. Not many designers get it right and the simplest solution that has worked flawlessly for more than half a century is to simply make the mains input voltage selection via selection switch. It's old school but it's reliable and it works. Seriously have we as a society slumped to the level that we can't be trusted to check the voltage selection switch to align correctly with the local mains electricity supply, or read some simple instructions of how to go about changing it to the correct setting if it wasn't correct in the first place? On second thought, no, some people simply can't be relied on to read and comprehend basic simple instructions. Yes, folks we now have to put instructions like "Do not swallow" on bottles of bleach. As if it wasn't obvious .....

They're on New Years Leave... and, BTW, do not expect a peer-to-peer response. Yesterday evening, with a 12h gap... I mean...

Quick off topic reply. A friend of mine used to work for a (then) well known Australian electronics retailer. They marketed a range of smallish LCD TVs upto 40" screens. At least 2 out of 10 customers would either phone up and complain the TV they just purchased doesn't work or they would bring them back to the store and do a "Karen". Typical customer complaints would go something like this - "This doesn't work. It's a POS. I want my money back."
For those who brought the TV back to the store, often without the packaging, power cable, instruction manual and the remote control; my friend and his fellow staff members would let the customer have their rant and then calmly and politely ask "What seems to be the problem with your new TV?"
Having encountered this situation on numerous occasions, they (the store staff) were well setup to deal with such problems. They would plug in a power cable and the antenna lead, reach for a matching remote control; all strategically and conveniently located under the counter for just such occasions (reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn who numbered his feathers - older folk will know what I'm talking about here - LOL). The staff member would then proceed to demonstrate to the customer how to switch in the TV. Now I know at this point of the story you are probably thinking .... o_O ....., but please read on. These TVs had a small rocker switch located on the bezel at the lower right-hand side of the screen. This switch allows the user to fully turn off the TV (take out of normal stand-by mode) in lieu of having to switch it off or remove the power plug from the wall outlet if you didn't want it consuming a small amount of power when you weren't watching it. Similar to the function of the power switch on the back of a DMP-A6. It was back in the day before the standby CE energy efficiency standards came into play. People going on vacation would typically unplug some appliances if you weren't going to be using them for a few weeks. (BTW it's not a bad idea IMHO). Anyhow the staff member would bring to the customer's attention that the TVs are shipped with this switch OFF and they must switch it ON before the TV can enter standby mode. They would then demonstrate to the customer the TV was in fact not broken. Some customers would then retort with comments on the lines of "Where does it say I have to do that?" Sir / Madam, it in the first few pages of the user handbook under Installation. ;)

Recognising this was a common customer issue the company decided to make a minor change to the product line. It consisted of a peel off sticker on the screen with an arrow pointing to the location of the power / standby switch and a brief note which from memory said something on the lines of "For initial use please switch me on here. Refer to the user manual supplied with your TV under Installation for more details. This sticker is removeable. Please remove it before using your TV."
Now mark me as a cynic but it's become a well-known fact that many reasons customers return a new device to a retailer citing it as faulty is because they didn't RTFM (read the friggin' manual) first.

So let's make an assumption as to why eversolo engineers decided to equip the Gen2 models with auto mains voltage detection. I suspect because 90%+ of customers can't be bothered to RTFM. Imagine any device shipped to a country that has a 220/ 240v supply and the voltage selection switch is in the 110/120v position. On powering up there would be an instantaneous release of the magic smoke and all electronics techs know what that generally means. :( So why are so many Gen2 units failing? Without having a Gen2 unit to examine and in the absence of access to a service manual I'm at odds to verify the exact cause of the failures. At first, I thought the majority of failed units were in countries with a 220/240v mains supply but @langhorn is in Canada which has a nominal 110/120v supply which only deepens the mystery, as he has now had two failed units. I fully empathise with his frustration.

I've got goods that have been sitting at an airport transhipment hub in China for the past week that haven't even left the country yet. Chinese Lunar New Year is a big deal in China. I personally wouldn't expect any response until at least the 25th of the month at the earliest.:(

Ahahahah....it reminds me of an old manager of mine at the beginning of my career, a Canadian guy. When I was delivering some reports with my comments, he was sending them back saying, it is clear to me but please make it stupid proof :D

Hello. Brand new member. Registered after being directed here from another Audio Forum.
Purchased DMP-A6 Gen2 in early June of 2025 and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Over the weekend, I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. Moved it to a different outlet, same thing. Quick search revealed the info that there is an issue with early batch of them. Went to website and filled out the after service form. Hoping to hear back after the Chinese New Year.
Discouraging reading through some of the posts here, although there are many positive experiences as well.
The stories of two failures - yikes!
    I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I'm sure the repaired/exchanged unit will be fine. Mine has been solid since being replaced with a new unit last July.

I have to apologize and retract my earlier post. I plugged the unit directly into the wall and it turned on!

I am at a loss, the other equipment plugged into the same power strip are working fine, so I am not sure if it was the problem or the power cable got a little loose. I KNOW it wasn’t the switch, that’s the first thing I checked.

Either way I am happy to be back in action and wanted to make sure reputation isn’t harmed due to my issue.
