Poll: Who sold the DMP-A8 and replaced it by what?

Hi everyone,

since some/many of us are not 100% happy with the Eversolo, I would like to know who sold the A8 and replaced it by an alternative device.

Option 1: Streamer with integrated DAC and kind of preamp (like the A8)

Option 2: Pure Streaming bridge and separate DAC.

I am thinking about option 2.
LAiV Harmony uDAC and either a Volumio Rivo Plus or a KECES Ebravo.

Would be great to get some feedback.

To be frank no one cares about alternatives to Eversolo products on this site. Go on facebook or some other site to get answers certainly re add on linear power supplies and other Dac's.

I'm amazed at what Eversolo allows certainly a US or UK site would have deleted many of the offensive or useless posts that have been placed on this site for what is a generous forum in my view designed to inform and help.

In fact you should delete this useless post!!!

The A8 is a state of the art product any issues you have with it are due to your ineptitude.
FYI, the output from the Laiv is exactly the same as the A8.

State of the art product doesn't mean anything. It's just marketing hype. If actually listen to the Laiv and A8 side by side. They don't sound the same.

 

You are correct it is the components measurements that make it state of the art, the Laiv ( I believe) doesn’t measure nearly as well so it might actually sound different if it is adding audible distortion.

Hello Milky, I have 3 other dedicated DAC units, sonically speaking, some of the older dacs
Sound real good, to the point where they’re often in use in my system,
It does indeed make me wonder, When I compare almost a 14-year-old Dac unit ,
To a good bit of this new and improved technology, Seriously,.
Plus the A8 units on board DAC ,many times
Dependent upon numerous Situations at times ,
I found even to the point of the way you feel at that particular time as far as frame of mind
at times on certain Source material it’s somewhat hard to distinguish from UNIT to unit, However, it is very important to keep everything exactly 100% the same or you are not performing a justifiable or accurate assessment of comparison,

But yes, I do agree to a small extent sonically speaking no one UNIT actually jumps out and bite you on the ears, A good number of sonic differences can also be tracked down to what type of settings are on the Dac That you are using features controls and adjustments, sometimes do vary from UNIT to UNIT somehow have a massive amount of adjustability in settings and others. I have have nothing straight in and straight out, But to get to the finalization of your statement, yes I compare units all the time and there are absolutely some minor changes and overall sonic tonality, I think you could simply look at it this way if every DAC unit sounded identical to the point of exactly the same, We would only need one DAC unit, As it would be useless and absolutely to no avail to have other units if indeed they are somewhat 100% Sonically identical, or we’re totally indistinguishable,from dac to dac , what would be the point, NONE ,

Now we’ll get into my buddies sacred area somewhere across the pond, Measurements measurements measurements, I absolutely agree 100%. I love reading specifications and measurements. Very informative. Very interesting., but the bottom line of it always how does it sound in your system with your equipment your room, your ears, and your music there are all almost endless variables, but yes, I would have to agree technically speaking from a sonic signature or characteristic that will sonically vary from unit to unit
Manufacturer the manufacture they are all built and implement and built differently, but it all comes down to basically being the same, but not NECESSARILY , 100 % identical, Sonically,
That’s the way I was taught, and I absolutely agree with their teachings and experimenting with my own findings , The DAC that you had mentioned ABOVE from what I understand is quite a popular unit as of this present time, From what appears as of now ,

As far as my A8 is concerned , I can most definitely say that it just particular point in time I do not believe it to be a keeper. unfortunately, I like the A8, as a base unit,

Also as another aspect the unit will just be antiquated through the passing of time naturally and normally speaking, At this present moment, for myself it is very
Debatable as to what my transpire toward The future course I may take with the A8
I have yet to fully evaluate this unit, In my main system, dedicated, listening room, 18 x 23 x 8 ,
In which it will be used and incorporated with other amplifiers and speakers that have not
You had been in use or evaluated at this present time, Mainly due to unfortunate
Listening room circumstances that are now being rectified at present ,

Hey Inti, I can absolutely agree with you on that statement, no music no life. One of the reason I sent you the PM. I can also absolutely relate
as to your situation, as I am also in your most unfortunate position, these most unforeseeable circumstances, had forced me into an earlier retirement,
However let’s just say thank goodness for this electronics, AUDIO hobby I have always had to fall back on, with involvement since high school
Along with a couple other interest and hobbies,

The Eversolo units are wonderful devices. Also along with others, I have always found this hobby to be very satisfying and enjoyable until recently
as crazy as it may sound in such a way, I do enjoy it most likely due to many many past experiences that are somewhat humorous in nature,
I believe it actually would have to be something one would have to experience in order to really appreciate it in such a way,

I hope you maintain in putting forth of taking the very best care of yourself, and enjoying your music along with your equipment that you now or currently employee
as I so stated I believe you to be a very knowledgeable and honorable individual, that is very rare today and has been for quite some time
Please enjoy your Eversolo unit to the maximum benefit, also there are numerous things coming along all the time in which eye

More likely the differences in the use of negative feedback. Distortion on both is very low, the distortion measurement wouldn't matter.

 

And what would the negative feedback affect, if not distortion...?
Just willing to educate myself, where possible.

 

It would negatively impact the sound if too much is used. It makes one measurement look better though.

 

A bit of a weird explanation... how could it impact the sound negatively, while still giving better measurements... could you elaborate...? An example, or something? Thanks dude.

I am no expert by any means, but I’m most certain that too much negative feedback would
Definitely cause all types of operational and sonic problems, more than likely, overwhelming distortion plus a few others I know I know, but please it’s been nice for a change ✌️
