It might not be possible. BUT. What about ripping your CDs through your laptop, and saving the rips on such external drive; then share it over SMB or NFS to the Eversolo, and... well... voilĂ , play them?
Yes, but that kind of defeats the Play's CD ripping capability Also my LT doesn't have a CD device. I presently have USB SSD connected to the Play. In the Files menu I can see where the files have been ripped to /Music however there is a directory on the Play called /EverSoloMusic and I can also see my drive with files I've been using for rips. I can play from either location. The storage is limited on the Play hence my desire to keep all all CD rips on one device. Not sure why the Play puts rips in /Music when there is a /EverSoloMusic directory.
It's weird to me too... Couldn't you just MOVE everything to one-place-only? I mean... I for one would try that. Or use an external device (even better, a 4TB USB3 SSD, like the WD, or the Samsung's @ 1GBPS)
I got it figured out. This worked for me on the EVERSOLO PLAY. Thanks for the input. I hope this helps other Play users. Under Settings, Playback turn off CD auto play. Insert CD to be ripped Under Apps select CD Ripper. You should see the artwork of CD to be ripped Select FLAC or WAV and if you just want certain tracks Below the CD artwork edit Storage Path to point to the path for me a 500GB USB3 SSD and directory called MUSIC Mark that location and hit OK Press START on the ripper app You can verify it worked by going to your USB drive and the folder you selected and find a folder with the artwork in front and if expanded you will find all the tracks
I tried it this morning. I have the CD Play version. I connected my external CD player to the Coax Source, no USB on this. It did not work for ripping. Ripping only works for me using the internal device. I can use my external drive for playing only. If I can dig up a USB based drive I'll give that a try
I have a usb CD player. Just need to dig it out from the closet. I will test this weekend if no one has tested this yet.
Just confirmed this works. I was able to plug in an external USB CD player and both play the CD and rip the music to my Synology NAS. The interface allows you to quickly change the storage location. Thus you should have no problem saving to USB storage. Although, I assume the unit has power to adequately power both USB CD player and USB storage. That you would still have to test but confirmed that you can rip to alternate location beyond the internal storage.
