When starting my DMP-A6 this morning i was asked to update the FW to 1.2.98. Some time after confirming i was wondering that the App did not show any progress anymore since about 15 minutes (just the rotating symbol in the middle of the screen). After checking the display on device i had to realize a red line on the status screen saying: MD5 überprüft Dateien fehlerhaft / MD5 check files defective This is REALLY stupid! Why the heck is this bl.... App not reflecting the status displayed on the device?? And even more important question: How shall i proceed now? Neither the App nor the device are offering me any options No exit No restart No nothing.... Shutting down the device in the middle of a FW update is probably not the smartest idea as the update sceen clearly states "This Action CANNOT be interupted". Any smart idea how i should proceed now without ruining the Firmware? I am pretty disapointed right now. This is REALLY lazy programming! If the MD5 check finds errors in the downloaded files, there MUST be an option to re-do the download, interupt it or change the Update type to USB.
You are not alone, this has been reported before and for the fix see post 481 here: New version 1.2.50/1.2.80 for DMP-A6/DMP-A8 release | Page 25 | Zidoo forum
Factory reset: 1. While DMP-A6 is in the power-off state, use a fine needle to press and hold the restore button at the back of the device, then press the knob on front panel to power on. 2. Once the device enters Android Recovery mode upon startup, you can release the needle. This will bring you to various recovery options. Does not work?
Thank you folks! The following intruction was given to be by the Zidoo technicians: 1. power off for your DMP-A6 (Hardware Switch on the backside). 2. turn on it again, Go to "Apps" - "Update" from the main interface of the touch screen, press " Update " more than 3 seconds, and then select clean data. 3. After that, Re-upgrade the firmware online This worked partially. I could not execute Point 2. because directly after reactivation the upgrade process proceeded automatically. Luckily now without any checksum errors. Update is completed now.
DMP-A6 has worked 11 months flawlessly via USB and no longer sees McIntosh DAC2 card in MA8950 Amp. THIS HAPPENED IMMEDIATELY AFTER UPDATE. A6 works with Cyrus QXR DAC , MA8950 works with same cable and other devices. Zidoo is telling me they're never heard of this but I am reading forums that contradict what they are telling me. When I asked for warranty service, silence.
Maybe people should finally understand that checking MD5 sum is NOT updating the device... it is a check. So stop freaking out, reboot the damn thing and start again!
If an error occurs in MD5, the file was not downloaded properly. In this case, you can reboot, download a new firmware file, and try updating.
