You know, the measurements of my MUX DAC from Lisk Audio are even better. But most importantly, I like the sound of it. I'm not saying that A8 sounds bad. No. But my DAC has a slightly different sound. It is more studio-like, without decoration. I completely agree with you. Plus, buyers pay money, and manufacturers do not want to give up this money.
That is what a DAC should do: add no decoration/coloration/sound signature, right? That was my between-the-lines assertion; you got my point.
That doesn't explain why it matters that it's not used for what it was intended for. How many devices connected by i2s have you heard???
The sound of the crickets is telling me you haven't listed to any devices connected by i2s. Which means no one should care about your opinion about i2s because you don't know what you are talking about. You are just repeating something you read on ASR that hasn't been proven nor is it something that is generally accepted. You personally have no idea whether it's true or not and are avoiding simple questions that anyone not full of BS should easily be able to answer.
That's right! That's why I appreciate my DAC. Which was developed and produced in small quantities by a professional audio electronics engineer and an excellent programmer and specialist in Pro audio. They developed this ADC/DAC model for their professional activities and produce it in small batches for friends and colleagues.
More than a year ago, I had a 3D Lab streamer and a Gustard X26 PRO DAC. I tested them on all interfaces and I liked I2S the most, then AES, USB less. So on my system it was an advantage, in other combinations it might have been different.
They are obviously having difficulty answering, leave them alone, it's always the same 4 cats who quote each other and please each other. In my opinion they don't even have an A6, but they write so much it's free. I don't know about you, but I don't have time to sit behind a keyboard all day. Now that A10 will be presented you will see that they will say that it is equal to A8 and A8 is equal to A6, (as they already said previously). There's no point wasting money, those scoundrels are ripping you off. Happy everyone, happy USB then
Now they will tell you that you are suggestible and even a little deaf in addition to the fact that your environment is not suitable...here they come, you'll see...With sympathy Hello good music and have fun Mauro
And how do you support it? If it's your idea there's nothing wrong with it, otherwise it needs to be proven. Take it to ASR who will measure it carefully and post the measurements.
what a mess to step back from AKM to ESS....................... for me avoid completely the solution: i was also curious about double SSD PCIe supported technology (3x? 4x? 5x?)
@Doc Octopus Where did you find this info? Pictures front and back are still generated it seems. So which digital input/output ports it has really? Using new ES9039 Pro versus AKM4499 is a mater of taste for me, both are top of the line. What puzzles me what a "Digital to Digtal Converter" does here. An ADC could be expected but a DDC ? Or does it make all digital inputs route to all digital outputs? The 2x SSD slot is new but always welcome. The big miss still no HDMI MCH output and HDMI I2S being dropped? I2S was the only special output routing all inputs via XMOS to it! With room correction even more relevant.
The A-8 is audibly transparent see Amir’s measurements so ‘if’ your dac sounds different ( which is impossible to say without seeing its measurements) then it is adding audible distortion. Keith
This idea that chips have their own sound is nonsense, instead look at the components measurements. Keith
Again the A-6 and the A-8 are audibly transparent, that is as good as it gets the A-10 ‘might’ add audible distortion which I very much doubt, that can’t be determined until the unit is measured. Keith
No facebook here. @Purité Audio Nice those measurements to be read but finally matters only is what my brains/senses make a pleasure.
@Nice Monkey there are those who like to listen to music and there are those who like to look at the graph there is nothing wrong in the end all good guys
