Hi all, I'm new here folks so please be gentle with me. :) I am hoping one of you experts can point me in the right direction! I've been into Home Cinema since the 1980's so fairly used to dealing with connection problems etc, but this one has me stumped.
Just bought a Z9x to replace a PC using PowerDVD (22) to play my BD and DVD library. Thought it would be nice to have something that incorporated better into my Home Cinema setup.

I have followed the excellent setup guidance from here:

I copied 1 BDMV (Terminator 2) and 2 music DVDs to my external USB3 HDD (which is what I used with PowerDVD). I read that the Z9x liked ISO files for DVD rather that TS files so I used Imgburn to convert the 2 DVDs. ('The Eagles, Hell Freezes Over' and 'ELO, Wembley or Bust'). The BDMV plays exactly as it should, both picture and sound. The 2 DVDs however are all over the place. The Eagle's 4:3 picture is narrower than 4:3, but otherwise looks 'better' than DVD. The ELO 16:9 picture is 16:9 but is much smaller than the screen, and it also displays lots of anti aliasing/shimmering etc.
When the Eagles DVD starts to play, 'DTS' shows on my amp for about 2 secs then switches back to stereo. I tried with a completely different DTS disc and it does the same.
I also found that all of the DVD TS folders that I have been using with PowerDVD played OK with the Z9x (but with the same problems as above) so I guess that the info that I found online regarding the Z9x not being able to play them was wrong! They were all listed as "unmatched" though.

I have no such problems with the same material using PowerDVD on my PC. I downloaded the driver from Cyberlink to be able to test the ISO files and they play just fine.
I've been through the settings of the Z9x and can see nothing obvious and have tried various different Audio and Display settings with no success. I am using the HDMI cable that came with the Z9x. I haven't tried changing that as the BDMV plays perfectly. I should also add that I have the above display problems using both my TV and my projector. and I also tried the Z9x with my soundbar and get the same problem with the DTS DVDs.
    Any advice MUCH appreciated!

OK, so I've solved the DTS problem in an odd way. If I let the disc play on in stereo and then push the menu button on the remote, it doesn't go to the main disc menu but puts up a text menu on the left. If I choose DTS there it plays on just fine. Clumsy but doable. But weirdly, after that all of the discs that I had the DTS problem with now just play the DTS track off the bat as they should. No joy with the display/aspect ratio though. This would be a deal breaker for me if I can't solve it.
Could one of the mods please let me know which forum this thread is actually in? I thought that I had posted in the Z9X forum but got an alert to say that it was in the wrong one and had been moved to the correct forum. (but didn't say which one!) I found it by searching. As far as I can see it's in the RD1619DR forum. Is that right?? At the moment it feels like shouting down a cave. :)

Yes, correct forum now - the Z9X is a 1619 device. You'd posted in a forum for a way old device...
