    Hello Mark,

I have problem with the Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 sounds on the Z1000Pro.
Sometimes it is alright at a movie, sometimes no sound at all at another film.
I tried everíthing at the Sound Setup page, but no positive result. On my laptop it is alright, but on the player, not at all.
Is the Z1000Pro ready for this type of sound?
It was same problem previously with the E-AC3, but I think it looks OK now.

Of course, the Zidoo can handle DD Plus sound codecs.... Are you using Auto for Audio out or Raw? Maybe do a MediaInfo comparison of the file that works and compare to one that doesn't .... And you don't provide any info on what you are using to process your audio... soundbar? (most likely) or just TV or going through a receiver ?.. etc.

Sorry, missed that - as @Deano86 says, yes, of course it handles E-AC3.

    Thank you for the comments!
Actually most of the cases it is working, but I always find some files, which ones are not.
I think it should be the coding programs fault. In 90% everything is fine, but there is the other 10%, and those files have some problem. with my player.
I use HDMI to the TV, but optical to the amplifier. When I cannot hear anything, it means nothing goes to the TV on HDMI (the TV speakers are quiet), but it is same towards the amplifier as well. I tried all the variations at the Audio setup settings page, but everything stayed quiet.
I will check the Mediainfo next time, when I find this problem again. That was a good idea!
And why not, I will try the HT5 V4.3.70 Alpha Test Version! THX

Optical audio, also known as TOSLINK, has limitations in bandwidth and compatibility compared to HDMI ARC. It cannot support the higher bandwidth lossless audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, nor can it transmit more than two channels of uncompressed PCM audio. Additionally, optical cables are more susceptible to damage from bending and may require signal boosters for longer distances.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of the limitations:
    1. Bandwidth Limitations:
    • Lossless Audio Formats:
Optical connections are limited in their ability to carry high-bandwidth, lossless audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, commonly found on Blu-ray discs.
    • Channel Count:
Optical cables can only support a maximum of two channels of uncompressed PCM audio.
    • Lossy Audio Formats:
While optical can handle lossy formats like Dolby Digital and DTS, it struggles with newer, higher-quality formats like Dolby Digital Plus and Atmos.
    2. Compatibility Issues:
    • Older Technology:
Optical audio connections are based on older technology and haven't seen the same level of development as HDMI.
    • Limited Functionality:
Compared to HDMI ARC, optical connections lack features like CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) for TV control and may have limited support for audio sync correction.
    • Not Ideal for Atmos:
If you want to experience Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, optical is not the best choice, as it cannot support these formats.
    3. Physical Limitations:
    • Susceptible to Damage:
Optical cables, especially those with plastic fibers, can be easily damaged by bending, potentially leading to signal loss or complete failure.
    • Length Restrictions:
Optical cables have limited maximum lengths (around 10 meters or 33 feet) and may require signal boosters or repeaters for longer distances.
    4. Other Considerations:
    • One-Way Transmission:
Optical cables only transmit audio signals, unlike HDMI which can carry both audio and video.
    • Potential for Ground Loops:
In some setups, optical connections can contribute to ground loop issues, causing humming or buzzing noises.
In essence, while optical audio is still a viable option for basic audio connections, it's not the best choice for high-fidelity or multi-channel audio setups, especially when compared to HDMI.

    What is your model type?
    Firmware version are you running?
Version number of HT do you have?

Not the question! The actual numbers of the firmware and HT you have installed. The “latest” means nothing.

Not sure about HT, should be the one that comes with this firmware obviously.

Go to Preferences, top right of HT page. Scroll down to ABOUT and in small print it will show HT version, end number is 52 for the latest version (it didn't come with firmware .68). Its a separate small APK file that needs to be downloaded to a USB stick or located on an accessible network location. The version to download is specific version for your model type. That's why it is a good idea to include the answers to the questions I asked in your signature - saves a lot of further questions.
