So I started my ripping journey in Late June of this year after buying the Z9X 8K, and everything was going well until I installed firmware v1.2.40_G, and then most of my new movie rips would only show up under an adult movie collection called "Unrated", and then a month later ALL of my new movie rips show up under "Chinese Erotic Movies Collection", and it's really making me mad because I have to manually re-match every single film that I add to my collection. And FYI, I recently updated to v1.2.42_G and it did not solve the issue.
***Note: I have never rip any adult films, not have I ever had any on my PC or NAS that I use, so it's not anything on my end.***

The same thing has happened to me for the past few firmwares/HT apps. Not sure why, never happened before and I also do not have anything like either in my collection. Most recently a Friday the 13th rip was classified as a Chinese Erotic Movie. Had to rematch. Very embarrassing having my son turn on the HT and see that.

Yeah, it's total BS! And not just becuase of the Adult nature of the match... it's because of how time consuming it is when I ripped 20 moives before turning on my Home Theater, and I had to spend a good 30 minutes re-matching everything instead of starting a movie.

Give an example of the file name of your ripped mkv file

Assuming a mkv file the name should be
Friday the 13th (1980).mkv or mp4 which ever the case.

Every movie I ripped the past 2 months went to the two adult movie collections. From all 10 Star Trek movies, Sleepy Hollow, The Craft, I know What You Did Last Summer, UnderWorld, it just didnt matter. And the names were just the movie name with ".mkv" at the end just the 300 + I did before the issue started.

According to TMDB there isn’t an entry called Terminator Juice. So check first on TMDB for the correct movie name and don’t forget to include the year as well

Did they have the year in () after the name.

That's not the issue. I did over 300 movies that matched correctly without having the year in the title, and then after the 1.2.40_G update, all the movies after that matched to those adult film collections... and Sleepy Hollow was just one example out of 100 that were placed in those adult collections.

OK but have you tried at least one with the year included simply to rule that factor out?

I'm a bit confused - above you say that "ALL of my new movie rips show up under "Chinese Erotic Movies Collection" ", but then the example you show of Sleepy Hollow is a single standalone movie that just looks like it's mismatched - it's not in a collection.

In the example of Sleepy Hollow, what's the filename? Because if I add Sleepy Hollow.mkv, I get this immediately, as expected:

I don't understand how this is confusing... Anytime I rip a movie now it matches to the Chinese erotic collection, so I have to re-match it so it shows up as the actually movie on the poster wall. And since I've done my entire collection, I only rip new movies that I purchased, hence why it's just sleepy hollow on the example. And the file name for sleeply Hollow was "Sleepy Hollow.mkv"

I have something of the reverse problem. All of my Chinese erotica keeps getting matched to Blues Clues, Teletubbies, or The Great British Bake Off.

    LMAO! Good one!

I do wish that someone had some kind of advise or suggestion about what I can do about this, tho... Is there no hope?

My experience is to use tmdb and include the date on the file name <movie name><(year)>. Suffix. This has always worked for me.

To be serious, I've had occasional weird adult matches for non-adult videos, but it's been rare, and with no peculiar fixation on a particular category like Chinese erotica. The weird matches were usually only on hard-to-match stuff too, like not a movie itself, but the bonus material for movies ("Making of" specials, etc., which I now hide from the Zidoo scan by telling the Zidoo to ignore folders containing "_Extras_", and putting such stuff in there).

I don't suggest this lightly, because I know what a pain re-matching a full library can be, but there's an option for clearing matching data, so maybe if you rebuilt your library from scratch after clearing that data and your library itself, then rescanning your video sources... maybe the problem would go away?

You can always backup your current library before trying such an experiment, then restore from the backup if the experiment starts to turn into more trouble than its worth.

Oh... an after thought I just had. Perhaps make sure your language settings are all good. I'm not looking at my Zidoo right now to remember what all those settings are, but maybe you have Chinese selected somewhere as a language you use?

First off, thanks for the replies, man! I really appreciate it

So, I ripped a few movies where I included the Chinese or Japanese language tracks along with the English, but that was well before this issue started, so I don't thin that would be the cause. But I will definitely look to see if there is anything going on in the language settings on the player.

Also, I forgot to mention this but I have mulitple seasons of shows ripped in a separate folder on my NAS and then scanned them in the "TV Shows" category on the Zidoo player, and haven't had any issues with them matching... But episodes of a series are way different than a movie, so that might not give us any clues as to what is going on.

As far as clearing matching data and deleting the Source... I'm not saying this is no chance that would work, but right now it matches any new rip(or any file that I move to a different folder) to the Chinese Erotic Movie poster, so the risk I'd be taking if it didn't fix the issue would be VERY high! And I don't know how to back up my "current Library" and restore it, but would that gaurantee that I wouldn't have to manually re-match my entire library if the issue isn't resolved?
