New firmware? Six months since last - longest wait ever?

@Zidoo Support-Kim hi could you please have a word with the dev team about the next firmware update? It's been about six months since the last one. If I'm not mistaken it's the longest wait ever between updates.

Doesn't bode well.

It's surprising me a lot since I was thinking new firmware around the corner by last June.
Really quite unpleasant!!

 

And the silence of the Zidoo dev team is deafening!

It would be interesting to have an official answer.

 

Let’s be honest: it’s been over six months without any meaningful firmware updates, and the silence from the dev team is deafening. It feels like the developers have completely abandoned our current devices because they’ve already shifted 100% of their focus to developing some new hardware. It's the classic cycle—leave the current userbase with unfixed bugs while chasing the next product launch.

Our current generation (like the Z3000 PRO) runs on the Amlogic S928X-K, but instead of optimizing it, they are probably already playing around with newer SoCs for their next shiny toy. If they are busy abandoning us for next-gen silicon, what do you think they are eyeing?

• Are they jumping onto a massive powerhouse like the Rockchip RK3588 for heavy multitasking and raw processing?
  
  
• Or maybe they are pivoting to high-end TV-centric chips like the MediaTek Pentonic series for better AI processing and built-in display engine features?
  

Whatever they are cooking, leaving paying customers in the dark for half a year just to rush a new device to the market is a terrible look. Are we officially on the "legacy" list now while they chase the next hardware hype? What do you guys think?

 

I think that they're the best of a bad lot.....

 

I think 99% of the people have no bugs. I have a large collection and no bugs, nothing.
The tiny group of people that post on this forum with bugs, most of that bugs zidoo cant replicate so what do you expect of them.

 

admittedly, I have very few, very minor issues that I can avoid with relatively minor inconvenience...I run cleansweep before any feature that I want to ensure trouble free playback of and generally avoid excessive pausing and jumping around ( FF, RW)

 

I wonder. Because around me nearly everyone facing software bugs just get along with it, complaining to their friends but consider they probably do something wrong and don't have time to bother creating an account and posting on a community based Internet board. In addition, there are still many people around the world who can't speak english and aren't comfortable using translation softwares. So I really wonder if we're just a handful, or if your use case makes you blind to common issues (and that's great, I wish I was in your place).

About the update slowdown, I think the team is focusing on the Eversolo products because Hi-Fi is the grail to make money. Much more than picture, once you get the reputation. If you browse audiophile boards, you understand the amount of gold-plated fish in that soundtstage-driven ocean. Did you know that the last firmware, which the log says it only changed the colour of the remote app, improved the soundtsage by a pretty strong margin, althouhg I'm not able to prove it but I trust my ears ? But that might be because I bought a wooden sculpture which allows high frequencies to bounce smoothly, so I always keep it in my pocket when I listen to my favourite albums (but it only works on progressive rock, in classical I have to hide it in a drawer).
Eversolo saw an update in april (I don't know if it changed the colour of the remote app though).

 

What advice would you give to users experiencing problems with the 8K series? Should they just accept the problem and not bother anyone with their complaints?
My Z30 is my fourth media player. And I've never had even 1% of the problems I have with the Z30 (video stuttering).

Zidoo has some very smart engineers. If they wanted to, they could fix the problem. They've just been busy with other devices for the last two years.
If there was a firmware rollback option, we could choose the one with the fewest issues. But we don't even have that.

 

There is no question about bugs. What about new features. New UI interface. Better android version.

 

I would be happy if my device would just stop locking up and requiring a physical power toggle every other day to bring it back.

Not much incentive to purchase any future products when they don't fix the current one. I would not likely purchase another Zidoo product if the red led device lockup isn't addressed.

 

I watch everything via my 8k and have not run into anything that gives me pause.

EDIT: Except...it doesn't display all the song titles correctly when listening to music.

EDIT: I do believe others have issues...but I am not convinced that all of those issues are the dev team's fault.

 

I get that, but I don't see any communication about my issue. I only brought it up to see if others had the same issue and maybe a known fix. It would be nice if a dev reached out and asked for logs or something. Then, at least, I could hope for a firmware to address the issue perhaps. I only update my thread once in a while for tracking purposes in case a dev may be interested in the timing and frequency. I don't make a lot of noise about it or anything.

Silence only breeds doubt and further spoils the consumer product relationship for those with issues.

 

The problem is that IF they have abandoned the hardware, or consider it EOL - like the UHD8000, which has disappeared from their store - then keeping the firmware on lockdown is not only intentional but in the case of a smaller whitelabel company - can easily be read as hostility toward the customer base.

All that would be required to win the admiration, and ongoing business, of the community is to open up the firmware so that mods and features can be added by the enthusiasts among them. It has been demonstrated over, and over, and over, that when this happens, long term loyalty and reputation beyond the immediate customer base is fostered.

It costs nothing, earns the company everything, and yet there remains a self-destructive fixation among many tech companies to foster a closed ecosystem.

It's just AOSP, after all.

what company opens up there software / Firmware ?
