Honest question, what does Dune do differently?

Don't know about other hardware based players. ZDMC trailers via the youtube plugin does not need updating that often in fairness - maybe an idea for Zidoo to slightly separate HT5 and the trailer function perhaps? Choice of where to pull trailers from, youtube account sync (in the same way the SmartTube app does), just update an app that feeds trailers that feeds HT5 rather than rolling out a new version of HT5 because YT changed something? I'm not sure which would be the best design decision.

Do you folks that do trailers on the Zidoo see ads? I know YT has blocked ALL content from me because I use ad blockers. If I want to see trailers via YT I have to allow ads or do a subscription. Never used a media player for trailers, always done on a PC.

That's for sure but in such circumstances Zidoo is completely dependent on third party functionality!!

they are recognised as 6ch 176khz for me BUT ,on the amp it says input and output 6ch while only Front left and right carry any audio ,all the other channels play nothing/zero volume

Personally im thinking its a limit of the Android TV version of OS used ( and maybe why the 8k range has gone back to normal android OS ? ),since they havent been able to fix it in the 6 months plus ,theyve tried to

Thou they have got a lot closer than at start
.52 it was all total distortion for dsf/iso mch
,60 on , it was 2ch at 372khz and some distortion on iso but dsf was mostly ok in stereo only
    2 or 3 more f/w like that
. .86 - .95 all correctly show 176khz 6ch pcm on zidoo ,amp shows 6ch input 6ch output with only FR FL carrying any audio

thats from memory :p but close enough to show some progress

If all you're missing is DSD multichannel playback, you can do as I did and buy the Sony UBP-X800 Blu-ray player. It plays DSD in multichannel via the HDMI port. Connect a hard disk to its USB port with all the DSD in multichannel inside and control everything from your smartphone via the Sony Music Center app. I bought it used and for less than 200 euros I solved the problem.

Do not have any DSD multichannel files but good to know about the Sony.

I concluded long ago there most likely will never be a great do it all box so I just add devices that excel at the job I want done. I use the Zidoo UHD5000 to play movies and TV, never tried for other uses. For audio I use BubbleUPnP, Oppo 203 app or Sony app (UBP-X1000). Bubble can use several of my devices for the renderer.

Are you kidding... Thats is a fantastic function! No one want to add thousend of trailers local. It is difficult to get it in good quali without branding... with very high time consuming

Completely and utterly disagree - I have always used local trailers. In fact it was me that got them added years ago knowing full well the vagaries of the Internet and particularly YouTube would cause exactly this issue, not to mention the abysmal quality of some.

Most of my trailers are 1080p, non contain branding, recent ones are 5.1 sound and I get to choose which trailer I want and in what quality rather than the random trash from YouTube.

I asked for trailers to be played full screen in HT5 precisely because the available quality is so good these days.

And I don't have to wait 10-20s for the trailer to start, it's immediate. Adding a trailer when adding a movie takes maybe two minutes and is well worth the effort to add some extra polish to HT.

Ok. It's your use case. We understand and respect your priorities. But please respect also our use cases and do not push disabling online trailers. Personally, I will never spare any time to manually find and upload the trailers like you do and many other agrees with that. I have found that online trailers as are working now quite OK and pleasing including the long wait time which I see optimal for me since it gives time to read the synopsis and does not attack the ears with high volume commercial=trailer. And I am not using full screen trailers at all.

Yes, you're absolutely right - I won't be pushing disabling online trailers at all - There's no need - there's already a switch to do that - and again, something I had added because I saw this coming a long time ago.

But it does seem like complaining about online trailers has become a hobby when there is a simple alternative. "Sparing the time" doesn't really cut it when you already have to spend considerably longer ripping content or otherwise nefariously obtaining it, but I do understand "can't be arsed" and I sort of respect that ;)

After a few movies 1.0.95 is working fine for my use case, MKV remux, 1080p and 4K sourced from QNAP NAS on a SMBV3 share.

tested also with a 4K 60fps movie and all working ok.
