New beta version v1.0.95 for Z9X PRO/Z20 PRO/Z2000 PRO/Z2600/UHD5000 release

Unfortunately, this is classic Zidoo. They keep launching new players, but support for existing models slowly fades away. Updates become less frequent, take forever, or eventually stop altogether. If this player follows the same path, it'll definitely be my last Zidoo player.

 

I don't think they are even making new players anytime soon.

 

What update are you exactly looking for?

For my Z9X Pro, I now use @Markswift2003 custom 400 nit LLDV EDID and output over HDR to my Epson projector and it looks fantastic. And my files... ranging from 1080p bluray and 3d rips and 4K HDR and Dolby Vision files all in MKV format work perfectly. A/V sync is dead on and there is no stuttering. The lastest updates of HT5 have greatly improved the speed and functionality of it. Granted, I don't mess with trying to play full ISO rips or use menus, because they are a total waste of time for me anyway.

The only titles that I do use menus are a few concert blurays and found that a folder with BDMV files work well enough playback-wise on those for menu selection to select tracks and navigate as needed. FWIW, I am totally good with the current firmware and player performance.

I already wanted to reply to your post the last time, but then didn't do it in the end... and I will only reply once regarding this matter, because I am not in any way fond of promoting / nor am I willing to rant or discussing offtopic stuff and especially other brands.

I'm really glad that things work for you - that's the only thing I am going to say regarding that. I myself had troubles with the Z9X Pro from the beginning on... and was never really that happy with it when comparing it with my X9S and Z9X (non pro) experience: ranging from bluetooth issues to the always present certification (or lack of it) issue.

Unlike many here... who were glad switching from Dune to Zidoo, I had the opportunity to buy a used Dune HD Premier 4K Pro and nearly didn't do it... to be fair... although the initial experience wants you to return immediately to Zidoo, because their launcher and Home Theater are indeed impressive, I'm so glad I decided to stay with the Dune.
I can't tell you how many updates I've got since then, because they're really countless... more then 10 for sure. I know you're still residing on Android TV 11 and will reside there for the rest of the box's life, but I'm on a fully certified Android TV 14 build where my (stupid! but what can you do?!) national telecommunication provider, which requires a certified build in their newer versions, just works... Netflix also just works and other streaming stuff as well... it plays everything I have locally on my player as well inside the normal Dune Media Center. Additionally I can also use the official Kodi without the need for a hacked version and cannot tell you how far advanced CoreElec got in the recent builds, because... of course you're also able to dualboot it from an sd card and / or usb device.

Of course my new experience wasn't always perfect from the beginning on, and still isn't, but I can't stand short-sighted hardcore fanboys closing their eyes and living in a pink bubble.

 

Hello, do you have a Dune media player model that does not take an internal HDD but supports an upgrade to Android 14, and includes the VS10 engine? Thanks.

It uses the same firmware than this one here from SEI Robotics.

Like the Z9X Pro it has an internal 2.5" slot and you can upgrade it to Android TV 14 and includes the VS10 engine, that is correct. But as mentioned... this is offtopic here and I won't further elaborate on that here.

Had to reset my Zidoo UHD5000 because of random stops. Was on v1.0.75, HT5 v5.0.68, when restarted I installed v1.0.95. In HT5 I was using List View which showed the Watched symbol to the right of the Title in the List. After v1.0.95 was installed the Watched symbol for titles watched no longer appears even tho I have it selected in HT5.

On my Z20 Pro it the same as in v1.0.95, HT5 v5.0.68 and no Watched symbol in list view. So I installed HT4 v4.3.52 and now the Watched symbol shows for titles watched.

Suggestions? Comments?

 

Does anyone know how the UHD5000 (or Z20 Pro) does YCbCr 4:4:4 chroma upscaling as in Nearest Neighbor or Bilinear or Bicubic?

 

None of the above as far as I know. But it's not publicly documented, and even in the spec (which isn't a public document) there is no mention. The VPU on the SoC is a black box in this respect.

It's definitely not nearest neighbour and extremely doubtful it's bilinear or bicubic either - they're a bit old hat. More likely it's an FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filter - that's what Realtek used so I'd expect AML to be the same.

My recommendation these days is to use 4:2:2 for 23~30Hz and 4:2:0 for 50~60Hz. In reality, without squinting at anti aliasing test patterns, you're unlikely to discern any difference though.

Just in the process of finalizing my formal written complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) against Zidoo for false advertising in what their product (the UHD5000) can do, specially in regards to the CD Ripper Software and it's failure, and that the CdRom's hardware failure rate in which is related directly their Ripper software not being able to sync, their version of the underlying operating system and the hardware . Also, that as per other threads on this forum their failure to address the problem, which is evident in the fact that it has been 2 years since the last firmware update dating back to 2024 knowing all along there is problem.

Companies cannot be allowed to sell products that clearly do not do what they advertise they can do and then just leave the customers hanging. Their silence is deafening?
Since they do not acknowledge the customer's complaint's, then clearly one needs a bigger stick which the (ACCC) is an avenue for Australian Consumer's

It will also put pressure on the Australian Importers and Retailers selling their products

 

Never looked at music features on my UHD5000 because for years I have been using EZ CD Audio Converter (here) to rip CD’s and BubbleUPnP (here) for cataloging and playlist. Use a dedicated Synology NAS for FLAC, MP3, etc. music storage.

 

Hi, new here. So is the very last stable firmware of the Z9X PRO is v1.0.95?

I'm still having issues some Dolby Vision movies having off colors. In some movies there would be flashing yellow color.
Some times My 5TB external hard drive won't be detected. I have to unplug replug multiple times.
Some FULL BDs don't play properly

 

I have no issues whatsoever with any of my 4K Dolby Vision titles...and definitely not with any "off colors"... most likely you have a poorly downloaded/remuxed title? or possibly a dodgy HDMI cable? You should attach a MediaInfo report of one of the problem titles...

External HDDs can be flaky... especially if they dont have their own power supply?

Full menu BDs are not Zidoo's strong suit .. with the stupidly authored java menus used by bluray disc titles. create a standalone MKV movie file from those problematic discs rips by removing those silly menus and enjoy the perfect playback bliss....

 

Yes, most of the Dolby Vision movies (remux and full bds) I have play flawlessly. Just a random few Dolby Vision titles that I have encountered specifically the FULL BD of Hugo (image would cut out while playing) and FULL BD of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 (image would flash yellow at certain points).

So again my question is the last stable firmware of Z9X PRO is v1.0.95? It hasn't been updated since?

 

Yes, v1.0.95 is the latest firmware.
