Hello, I enjoy my DMP-A8 with its DSP features. However, the DMPA8 pinout does not fully comply with the Ferrum Wandla Dac. Do you plan to add another i2s configuration soon please? . However the I2S is not not compatible with my Ferrum Wandla DAC.
It's going to be a mess soon; as there is no standard for the I2S interfaces / wiring. After all, the I2S was meant to be an on-board (PCB) way of connecting things together, with very short paths; and not for connecting external DACs... It's there, yes, but it was not meant for doing so. The non-standardization is a by-product, and should be a red-flag for not using such interface, and stick, where possible, with the established USB / HDMI ARC/eARC / S/PDIF / EAS-EBU etc. etc. This said, you can always go to an electronic shop, and as them to build you a small adapter that will re-route the signals from a chosen configuration on the A8 to one suitable to your external device; it will probably consiste of a HDMI-male, an HDMI-female, and a short cable between them.
After all, the I2S was meant to be an on-board (PCB) way of connecting things together, with very short paths; and not for connecting external DACs... I know that but we can't always explain everything scientifically in audio. I tried all the digital input on my Ferrum DAC but the I2S is the best. I am not alone with this comment and all youtube reviewers share the same comment. Bass is more controlled. Soundstage and imaging are better. Music flow easier and is more real in my system. In the meantime, I ordered this HDMI connector and I will make sure to keep the cable as short as possible. A bit of Deoxit gold on the contacts can't heart.. https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/gp/produ...sin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&language=en_CA
