UPDATE: I rebooted, disabled and re-enabled pass through and it seems the issue is resolved. I guess it’s like most things: “Did you turned it off and on?” Hello all, I have a new z9x 8k and I am in the process setting it up. My setup goes from Zidoo -> Onkyo NR676 -> TV. I setup the sound to be as passthrough, thinking that the AV receiver will manage the sound. My issue is this: the volume from the Zidoo is very low. I also have an AppleTV connected to the receiver and playing the same media, at the same AV volume, it is much quieter on the Zidoo. I have to almost max it to get to a decent volume. My question is: is there a setting or a setup step that I may need to do? Or is it expected to be lower by the nature of being passthrough. I can adjust the course volume at the receiver, but I am wondering maybe passthrough isn't the best output option from the Zidoo. Thanks for any help!
Out of curiosity, what was the soundtrack you were using? - Dolby, DTS or PCM? The Zidoo has absolutely no control over Dolby or DTS sound levels because they're sent as bitstreams. With PCM sound (Flac, MP3, AAC etc etc), gain is of course adjustable but Passthrough sets that to 0db (max) without the ability to adjust so I'm not sure what happened there.
It happened with all types. It didn't matter if it was musc in mp3, ALAC, or movies in eac3, DD, etc. I first logged in through Jellyfin, and I thought it was that. But then I synced my music library and the same thing happened. Until the full reboot that is. An important note: It was on first boot, after the firmware updated a couple of times to the xx.40 version.
