This morning, the first thing I saw when I turned on one of my A6s is that there was a new update, so I let it install. (It took a while.) Later in the day, I decided to update my other Eversolo (also an A6 Gen 2), which I purchased about two months after buying the first one. I did not receive an update notice. I looked through all the menus, to see if I could update it without waiting for the notice to appear. However, I couldn't find an Update command on any of them. Is there such a command? If so, where do I find it? Also, I did see at least one oddities with the newer A6 that were not present in the first unit: 1.) It did not include a demo CD (no big deal, if they were the same, there is no reason that I would need two of them). 2.) I can't shut it down with one press, without going through the popup dialog (i.e. I have to press the knob, then choose the option to shut it down). No matter how long or short press on the knob, I stil have to navigate through that screen and select the option. Finally, I just disabled it in the Setup screen. I didn't have to do that with the first unit. Any idea about what may be going on? They are both A6 Gen 2s. They should be identical in every respect. The only differences on my end are that the first unit is wired to the Internet via ethernet cable and uses an external DAC (connected by USB cable). The second unit connects by wi-fi and is connected to a Denon CD player (via optical cable). Thanks.
For me (A6 Master Edition Gen 1) the option to Update shows up under the Settings/About then shows Version with a small arrow, click that and you can check for update.
Hello ejr, just an idea, been doing this for a little while, if I had or owned 2 units, and I downloaded a upgrade I believe I Would absolutely just wait and see whatever the over all outcome is, on the upgraded unit, however it has been shown That these units really differ in their overall outcome of taking any type of download I would assume caution from past previous experiences And take notation on how the upgraded unit performs overall better safe than sorry as this is not a standardized UNIT situation, however, I do not intend in anyway to download this new firmware again From past experiences good luck and enjoy your music thanks again…
I am now hearing the beginnings of many tracks cut off when streaming from Amazon Music Unlimited, as well as the files that I play back from USB and from my media server.
Always no update on my gen 2 staying 1.4.42 I think the system of pushing update with MAC address is not a good system….
Who is "They" ? You can trust the files from McBluna.net BTW: He always links to official download link too - may be for the fearfull. But! As the last days often read, the last firmware update is a bit bugy. So I would wait and update when "They " say it`s stable.
Many of us, may be all!? have the same bug. It`s named in many other threads... It's all a bit confusing and there are a lot of duplicate posts seen in other threads.
By mail on eversolo support… I see that Do you think that staying on 1.4.32 is a better thing than going on 1.4.60, and wait for a stable and good release ?
I am on 1.4.70 and it works so far for me. But I have those interrupts between two tracks - as often posted. The rest works for me. I leave on this version and wait.
Hello, you own the first and second dmp-a6 gen. is there any noticeable difference in the speed of the interface, is the response time better? Thanx in advance and best wishes!
@McBluna OK. Thank`s. I`ll give it a try. EDIT: 1.4.76 installed and so far I can say it works for me. BTW: Has anyone noticed that streaming with qobuz connect sounds better overall as streaming with the Eversolo App? I changed vice versa now more times and for my ears it is. It`s more defined, more depth in stage and also more separation and quicker, punchier response than with the Eversolo App. May be only for my ears...
No it is not your ears. I have posted the same "The tonality, focus and dimensionality of the soundstage is so much better when using Qobuz Connect".
I am sorry to say, that the interrupts between two tracks in qobuz connect is N O T solved with 1.4.76 Played all albums for example of Alan Parsons Projekt streamed by the qobuz app. The first or running track ends smooth as expected. Then, when the next track should gapless start, there is ONE stutter! Let`s say, the first tone/note of the next starting track ist cut/interrupted and then repeated (sounds twice) before track plays as expected.
I am now seeing one of the problems that was supposed to be fixed by 1.4.76 return. The beginnings of songs are being clipped. Example: The original Broadway cast album of the musical "Pippin" on Amazon Unlimited. I have copied all the tracks except the ones that Amazon added and weren't in the original show to a playlist. About three-quarters of the way through, it starts truncating the first second or less. Also, the album art disappears. I tried finding and listening to the album outside the playlist -- which brought back the album art, but clipped the opening of every track that I tried to listen to. Is this a problem with Eversolo or Amazon Unlimited's streaming service?
I think there is some misunderstanding about HOW gap-less playback works... 1. You are actually single taking tracks out of an album 2. your tracks need to be fetched out of the music database (and if the original files were not single files, but CUE'd from a whole-disc-rip it just complicates things...) 3. they, then, need to be streamed to you This (the single track fetch) takes time (don't think you are the only recipient from the server's point of view...). If the tracks are from different: album / bit-depth / sample-rate, it further complicates things (at your end, but not only). Just saying that reconfiguring your DAC may take some time (depending on the technology involved, my Eversolo Z8 seems to deal extremely well, whether changes are involved: various PCM bit-depths / sample rates, as well as DSDs seem to not trouble it in any way, but I just might be lucky...). Such time prevents the device to properly handle your digital data (that is: your music stream...) Try increasing your input buffers (if there is such an option - I don't know) Furthermore, streaming is also affected by internet speed / conditions... If you have an external DAC and feed it via COAX / OPTICAL, rather than USB, the problem may eventually become bigger...
