Is it possible to play videos with X264 10bit codec now? Previous products did not play, saying the codec was not supported. I would like to know whether smooth playback is possible with this product.
It plays 10-bit AVC but only with the software player, not the Zidoo hardware player. I only have static test patterns in 10-bit AVC so if you can provide a sample I can tell if the performance is ok (I would expect it not to be).
Should have been clearer - it's the same player, but it can either decode leveraging the hardware (the SOC) or not, and in that case it's using software decoding, not hardware. The AML SOC supports AVC High Profile in hardware but not High 10, so that has to be decoded in software - it's a bit like using Kodi and not using the Zidoo player.
You don't, it's transparent. Also, since the OP never sent me a sample, I found a 1080p High 10 video and it plays perfectly.
