I have a few DVD which have a IMDB code. Example with the Opera Orlando Furioso, with IMDB: tt0240782. Same for IMDB code : tt27180102. Nevertheless, when trying to match this movie on HT5, adding the IMDB code as a matching title, it shows "no result". How to go around this?
Hi all, Am I the only one to have this type of movies in my database? Anyone found a workaround ? Thanks in advance
These boxes use TMDB, not IMDB. If you can get a partial match you can edit details yourself in the web UI, although it is a bit hit and miss. Or you can create an NFO (template attached) and add your own local artwork. Or you could edit/add entries to TMDB Many ways to skin a cat. TMDB finds these options when searching for Orlando Furioso:
Must be an old version of HT and the web interface, but IMDB isn't used for scraping because of licencing.
Oh OK thanks Mark i'll bear that in mind Its always worked on my Z9s with the 2.3.88 firmware (HT 4) but i haven't tried it with the new v4.4.42 update. Also i think i may have found a small bug as well: Its in settings - poster view - custom layout, there is 'Widget' & also Widget2' and 'Category' & 'Category2' listed. In addition if you long-press a movie or tv show you will find 'Add to Category' and also 'Add to Category2'. I'm not a 100% sure if this is a bug but these extra options certainly wasn't available prior to this latest APK patch. Nev
Can't remember IMDB ever being used for scraping - maybe it was just used for identification... You can have two rows of Categories (genres) and Widgets now - so you can separate custom widgets from the included ones if you want - If you tick Widget2 and Category2 in the Custom Layout screen you'll see how it works.
OK Thanks for the info Mark. I’ll have a tinker with the layout later on. I’ve used the IMDB ‘trick’ a lot in the past and it did update the poster wall for the particular movie or show. It was really useful for matching foreign movies or shows that TMDB couldn’t find or American movies that had an alternate title in the UK. Thanks for your prompt replies Nev
99% of the cases, entering the IMDB ID for matching brings the right movie. This is the best way to match movies where file name is not perfect. I will leverage this discussion to try to contribute to TMDB, so that it benefits to everyone.
I've tried using IMDB ids with TMDB searches from a Z9X 8K for at least 8 different titles (not very esoteric either) and never had a match. If it works for anyone, please provide an example, with very specific steps.
I usually do the "match" exercise on the web interface when thescan doesn't recognize the movie. For instance, with title "Star Trek", the web UI did a wrong mapping, aggregating YV series and the movie. To remap the movie only, I woud do: - Web interface --> enter the IMDB id (found on the IMDB web site) --> click Search Only the correct movie appears: Note BTW that on the web interface, the message indicates to enter IMBD ID / Movie / TV Series. Hence my initial question about the cases when an IMDB ID exists but is not recognized. I believe IMDB id is used for the search on TMDB. In some cases, the movie is on IMDB but not on TMDB.
Thanks for that. I tried again with a few more titles and the results were mixed. In some cases I got a list of incorrect matches, but mostly no match at all. Strangely, for the more esoteric titles, such as tt0244558, it worked as expected. I think it is safe to say that IMDB ID look-ups are not reliable. For what it's worth, I have a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard with a trackpad attached to my Zidoo and I do most of my rematching using the TV. The web interface only gives the option of TMDB and TVDB lookups, whereas with the TV interface I additionally have the option of using TVMAZE. @Markswift2003 may be the missing TVMAZE option in the web interface is a bug?
@Gilles2 Slightly off-topic, but since you seem to be engaged in the TMDB community... TMDB documentation says that their /find functionality can be used to look up IMDB titles, but that simply does not work. Taking the IMDB id tt0244558 mentioned previously (and found by the Zidoo rematch function), entering it in the TMDB web interface and selecting IMDB ID as the look up leads to nothing. See for yourself. Similarly that identifier will not be found through the TMDB /search page either. I don't know how the Zidoo managed to get that match!
Hi! I have a Z9X. Since I updated, HT posters can't find any movie information in the world. Not by title, not by IMDB ID, not at all. Every movie is in the OTHER category and there is no info, no picture, no poster for it and it doesn't find anything. What's wrong with that?
Yes, I've tried this several times. It says installation complete, but I still see HT version 4.3.05 on the Z9X. And of course it's not working.
Ok - really weird - I don't think I've seen anyone reporting this. And definitely a Z9X Realtek 1619DR box and definitely installing the correct Realtek 1619DR version of the HT update? I think maybe a factory reset is needed.
