No more stutter here but another issue.

Anyway I've bought a new tv for the bedroom LG C5 OLED42C55LA - 42 inch. It was my intention to use an Oppo 203 but I thought well I can give it a go with my Zidoo Zx9 8K.
To my surprise, there were no hiccups whatsoever. Mostly I play Frame rate : 23.976 fps files. 1080p or 4K. HDR Dolby vision and no issue or whatever.

But when I want to play an Interlaced file with frame rate 25,000 FPS the screen goes to black after a while. Just for short moments during the file.
When I disconnect the Zidoo ( button at the back ) power off. There is no issue with the black screen anymore.
First I thought my Hdmi 2.1 certified cable is not ok so I did change the cable but that didn't help. I did replace the Zidoo with my Oppo 203 and no issue.

    Is this a bug?

Settings Zidoo Zx9 8k is match frame rate. The Zidoo upscale the content.

Also the screensaver is ON because It's a new Oled tv. ( burn in )
I'm aware about the screensaver issues but that does not concern when you play the file without pause. Or is it?

Can't think why it would do that. It certainly doesn't here.

If you look at the file with MediaInfo does the entry for "Scan Type" say "Interlaced" or "MBAFF"?

Does the entry for "Scan Type, store method" say "Interleaved Fields" or "Separated Fields"?

You're not converting to Dolby Vision are you?

    According Oppo it's Interlaced. 1920 x 1080 / 50 i
    Oppo scales up to 3840 x 2160 / frame rate 25 P ( progressive )

Does the entry for "Scan Type, store method" say "Interleaved Fields" or "Separated Fields"?
    Where can I find this?

You're not converting to Dolby Vision are you?
You mean settings Oppo? Where can I see this?

2 screenshots are from the Oppo there it says 50 i?

    Screenshot Zidoo
This issue only happens with 25000 Fps. About the interlaced or Progressive I'm not sure what is correct information? Media info or the Oppo?

Yeah - that's progressive scan. But if the Oppo reports interlaced, maybe there's an issue with the file.

    What does the Zidoo report.

I meant are you converting to Dolby Vision in the Zidoo.

The reason I ask is that different methods of interlaced encoding result in different playback techniques - for example, Separated Fields results in frame doubling whereas Interleaved Fields doesn't. If the box is frame doubling and you play in Dolby Vision, that uses HDMI 2 at full chat so there could be an issue with the HDMI chain which can typically be intermittent video loss.

sorry for the confusing Mark. But y're right it's P and not i.
I do not have a clue why the Oppo says i?

How can I see where I convert to dolby vision in the Zidoo?
I did not touch these settings? But you never know.

Again it only happens with 25000 fps.
Never in Frame rate : 23.976.

The screensaver on does not effect this issue? Meaning black screen shirt moments after 5 or 10 minutes playing?
The reason for screensaver on it's a brand new Oled and my wife falls asleep during watching tv. So after the ending the Zidoo goes to static image.

You would have to set the box to specifically output Dolby Vision for SDR content in HDR settings, so from what you say, I assume you have HDR set to Auto, so I don't think that's the issue.

No, screensaver shouldn't affect this at all - that only happens if you pause a video and the screen saver kicks in on pause - not during actual playback.

To be sure that doesn't happen, you can disable screensaver during pause from the context menu (press menu during playback) in Context Menu/Advanced/More Settings/Pause Video Display Screen Saver > Off.

    upload_2025-10-3_14-29-43.png

This would still allow the screensaver to kick in after a video has finished and your wife falls asleep ;)

Yes - exactly that - so that's not the problem.

It can not be the new oled is it? Because sometimes there is a black screen during the movie with 25.000 fps that should also happens with 23,976.

I've watched hours with 23,976 and no issue with black screen.

Does it happen with every 25fps file you have played?

Yep. From the Uk and The Netherlands all 25 fps.

Maybe unnecessary but I did a hard reset.

Really odd - can't think of a single reason - there's nothing special about 25fps other than it's an integer framerate, but there's nothing unusual about that.

Well stutter solved another issue in return. :p:p

    Thanks for your help Mark.

Could it be your TV not supporting a PAL signal properly? Try getting the Zidoo to upconvert to 1080p50.

You should know better than anyone that's not PAL :p:D;)

The OP said he uses the Zidoo to upscale so output is presumably 3840x2160p25

According to the EDID, The LG supports both VIC 33 (1920x1080p25) and 94 (3840x2160p25) just fine so I don't think it's that.

@plate , can you play some content in which this issue happens, confirm that the issue happens, and then press the <info> button and send a picture of what that looks like - I'm interested in the output mode.

Just to be sure, the Oppo is connected to rule it out. So patience please. ;)

I will connect the Zidoo within a few days.

@plate , can you play some content in which this issue happens
It happend during this file. See screenshot. Output Zidoo is match frame rate only.
Maybe match frame rate and resolution is the solution?

What struck me after the hard reset of the Zidoo was that everything from HDMI CEC was on? I turned it off. The Simplink (CEC) is also off.

I did ask a tech person about this and asked : is my tv broken? He said : No. If the tv is broken it must happen with all frame rates. He told me to switch Hdmi port, this was not the solution.
Also I used 2 different certified Hdmi 2.1 cables.

Anyway I did a search on this forum and this is exactly what happens with me. Only one difference it happens during watching. Not in the beginning or ending.

    https://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/black-screen-when-starting-or-ending-playback.95086/

Maybe a weird remark. The black screen ( short moment ) is like an edit. Example.
There is a tv show named Mike Brewer Born Dealer.
If you watch this download there is an edit for the commercial part. That moment there is a black screen. That's normal!
But in my case the black screen happens random. So I can not replicate this phenomenon.

    Again thanks for the help.

Guilty as charged. I saw a complaint about 25 and interlace and jumped the gun. I didn't actually read all the stuff with the relevant details.

Cool - thanks for the screenshot.

The first thing I wanted to check was that you weren't using a high HDMI bandwidth which would only happen if for example, the output framerate was doubled at 50Hz and the video mode was either 12-bit 4:2:2 or 8-bit 4:4:4/RGB.

But it isn't so that sets my mind at rest it's not a bandwidth problem - The mode you're using is only 11.1Gb/s out of the available 17.8Gb/s so that's not the problem. As I say, I just wanted to check.

Ok - next thing to try, and I appreciate you won't do this straight away, is to set the Color Settings like this:

    Display/Color Settings/8K 50~60Hz: Priority YUV420 10BIT
    Display/Color Settings/4K 50~60Hz: Priority YUV420 10BIT
    Display/Color Settings/4K 23~30Hz: Priority YUV422 12BIT
    Display/Color Settings/Below-4K: Priority YUV422 12BIT

    upload_2025-10-4_12-46-6.png

    upload_2025-10-4_12-46-37.png

If this works, we'll work out why later ;)

    Weergave/kleurinstellingen/4K 23~30Hz: Prioriteit YUV222 12BIT
    Beeldscherm/kleurinstellingen/onder-4K: Prioriteit YUV222 12BIT

    I think you mean YUV 422 12bit?
There is no option for 222.
