First, why would the size of the folder matter? It's simply indexing the content. Secondly, the total directory has about 18k episodes. However, that doesn't matter as HT5 will randomly lock up when trying to add a single show with ~35 episodes (or any other variation). It'll eventually work after a restart of the app, but not until after it's crashed. When it does finish, it finds 100% of the content. So it's not a naming issue.

I've updated to latest HT5 but still cannot seem to get the films to show their covers. I feel like giving up!. When I bought the box everything worked fine all the covers just worked from day one. Unfortunately I didn't back anything up before I downloaded the beta version and now lost everything. I've tried different settings but nothing seems to work. Can any one tell me what I'm doing wrong or point me in the right direction.
I'm using latest beta firmware downloaded via internet.
Or I don't suppose you can go back to the original settings after the upgrade?

    Thanks

Try switching the poster directory in HT settings

Can you confirm the firmware version (Main Settings/Other/About > Software Version)

And the HT version (HT5/Settings/About > Version number at bottom of screen)

Can you confirm how many films you are scanning and how many are not being recognised?

At the moment I have no idea what's going on here other than you seem to be describing symptoms of the TMDB issue we had prior to HT version 4.3.52

    Hi Mark,
The HT version is the latest. I'll let you know which beta version I have when I return home later.I know it's the one that updates over the air.

    Many thanks

@Markswift2003 , Hello, could you please advise which are the best settings in HT for scanning from TMDB? I've added a screenshots. Thank you.

Set both sources of scraping to be TMDb priority. This is the best option if you want the cast links to work correctly between movies and TV shows.
The NFO analysis Alternative setting is OK if you want the ability to use your own NFO files only if TMDB matching fails.

The rest of the settings don't matter much when it comes to scraping metadata.

    Hi Guys

I currently have three Zidoo units: UHD8000, UHD5000, and UHD2000. They all worked flawlessly until the recent TMDB-related issues began. Since then, I’ve been experiencing persistent problems with Home Theater (HT) functions, including indexing, fetching metadata, subtitles, and changing poster artwork.

I've updated all units to the latest firmware and installed the most recent HT APK versions. On the UHD8000, I’ve tested both version 52 and 70. However, the issues persist across all devices, leading me to suspect it could be related to a shared library or database issue, rather than a hardware problem.

Do you have any insight into this? Is there still an ongoing issue with accessing metadata services for movies and TV shows? I’d really appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this.

No ongoing issues I'm aware of.

If you can be a bit more specific about the issues I may be able to help but it's really odd if you get the same issues over three different generations of device since the only common denominator is the content.

"Latest" can change from day to day. It's always best to quote the actual version numbers reported by the running software. That also ensures that you are running the version you think you installed.

The firmware version will be reported in the OSD you get when you press the i key on the remote. HT version can be found in the Settings page, under Help, near the bottom of the screen.

As an example, I'm running HT 4.3.70, with firmware v1.2.22 on a Z9X 8K. I do not experience any issues with scraping, TMDB matching, subtitle downloading or changing artwork.

Thank for your info. I can confirm I have finally managed to get the posters back. I have swapped my external hard drive and that seems to have solved the problem. I have a feeling my normal hard drive has been corrupted. As it would'nt let me delete or overwrite anything. I'm just in the process of copying everything over to the other spare . The films that i have crossed over so far are working perfectly and all matched. So hopefully the problem is now resolved. Once all films have been copied I'll format the one I was using and search for errors. Hopefully that will sort it.

Thanks once again to all who responded , much appreciated.

    Hi,

I'm currently experiencing significant performance issues when accessing TMDB. The scanning process is extremely slow, and when there are many files to update, it often times out completely.

I've taken several troubleshooting steps already:

    • Cleaned the HT settings

    • Reindexed the library and removed and added them again

    • Performed a full hard reset
None of these actions have resolved the issue. My media files are stored on two Synology NAS units, and the setup worked flawlessly before the problems with TMDB began.

Additionally, I tested deleting some hidden .* files from the local system disk on the player. This noticeably improved TVDB performance, but TMDB remains slow.

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve TMDB performance? or Something i can do or redo to solve my issue?
If i should clear all and restart, what should i do to make sure all old data is deleted and new?
As i say i have three machines that access the same data, all covers and cache is stored local on all machines.
All three are update to latest fimware and APK update for that model, UHD 8000 have the latest Alpha, hade the same slow problem on all APK versions.

Im glad to hear that it works for you, and i have a friend with same machine and it works for him two after the same update. We are running the same version. I have checked the version in HT and also in update for firmware and downloaded them fron the forum. Allt went good with the upgrade as i can see. also tested to reinstall the APK file.

Feels like there is some old data or connections that can be a possable issue?

Can you define slow - I just did a quick test on a Z9X 8K on HT5 v4.3.70 by clearing the database and loading and scraping a 1200 file library and it took 0.41s per title on average - so 8 minutes 9 seconds.

Also, can you define "Many Files".

When you say the scrape "times out" - what do you mean? What does it do?

The performance is so slow that it takes several minutes to process a single record. With a batch of 1,500 files, the entire operation would take 1–2 days to complete — and often fails during that time, requiring me to restart the process from the beginning. It run fast when it check the nas for files its the scaping that are slow. Same with subtitle if i check fo r that its aslo slow and take time to save.

Wow - ok - that's not right at all!

I have since tested the Z9X 8K (AML 928) on a 4000 file library and although it scraped at 0.41s per title, it crashed at approx 1400 titles to the HT main screen. I also replicated this behaviour a second time. So there's a problem there.

However, it turns out this is to do with the Poster Folder location - if set to "Priority save to device" the scan crashes. If set to "Custom Folder", which is the best option, it doesn't.

So I then tested a Z9X 8K (AML 928, FW v1.2.25, HT5 v43.70) with the same 4000 title library with "Custom Folder" set and it scanned them all successfully in approx 24 minutes, at 0.36s per title.

I then tested a Z9X Pro (1619BPD, FW v1.0.95, HT5 v4.3.52) on the same 4000 title library (Custom Folder) and it scanned them all successfully in approx 27 minutes, at 0.41s per title.

I then tested a Z9X (1619DR, FW v6.4.68, HT5 v4.3.52) on the same library and again (Custom Folder), it scanned them all successfully in approx 21 minutes, at 0.32s per title.

So there's definitely an issue with HT5 v4.3.70 Alpha on libraries over 1400 or so which I'll pass to the devs, but as I say, it's an alpha so such things are expected.

But no issue on a Z9X Pro or Z9X on v4.3.52 (although I need to test the Priority Save to Device option on them)

So my first suggestion is to try this:

Reset HT using Settings/Library/Clear Data > Clear
Check that Settings/Custom Folder is set to "Custom Folder"
