Whilst I had no issues with the update the fact that a database backup created by this version seems to be non-transferable to lower versions of HT5 actually is a big issue. I decided to revert back to "stock" as of firmware v1.2.25.
Reasoning, my Core unit, ZX9 Pro 8K in the everyday TV room, services my "satellites", a Z3000, Z2000 and a ZX9Pro that meant my sync strategy was changed. The other 3 units in operation would have to be updated separately, using a second "core" unit.

In case anyone wnats to do this the sequence is; "APPS", longpress "Home Theater 5.0", Uninstall.
Then open Home Theater clear everything, just in case and restore the backup you made before you updated to V 4.3.70, which I am sure you did!

As this v4.3.7 is an alpha I am sure theat future iterations will correct this backup issue. All previous versions were "backwards" compatible

Have you tried "Clear Match History Cache"?

Must admit I clear my database regularly - partly due to testing but partly because I don't like an untidy database - but I use NFOs so it's dead easy.

Also, because I know this version uses a different database schema, I cleared and rescanned as a matter of course for this version.

For the first time since buying this unit, HT5 is actually completing the scanning of my content without crashing. I am currently working through my largest directory, but so far, other folders that repeatedly failed have worked (with only one crashing, but then working when run again).

This crashing issue happened across my Unraid NAS, as well as my Synology NAS. Both were tried via SMB and NFS. So it seemed clear to me that it was the Zidoo (which had been factory reset multiple times).

Further, this latest scan found 100% of the movies in a one drive that repeatedly failed before (which further indicates that it was never a naming issue).

So far, this is a win for me.

You are right, this is a problem, and the next version should consider filtering out entries for deleted files.

This is completely normal with virtually all software that updates the database schema. That's why just about every vendor advises you to back up your database using the old software just before you update.

It's scaring me since my 1.000 files (movies and TV shows) database needed to re-match like 200 entries. I'm not in that mood. Any other workaround?

Luckily this is something that you can revert, so it should not be scary.
Back up your database, clear everything, re-add your sources/device and rescan. If you find that the results are not to your satisfaction, you can always restore the database backup and everything should be back to where you started.

If you name all your files correctly, you are very likely to have a success ratio in the 98% ~ 100% range.

On my system it matched 1886/1888 movies and 5818/5835 TV shows, however there are only 4 files in Unmatched. For the TV shows, I have a directory that is intentionally excluded. The unmatched movies are things that do not have a TMDB entry, such as Mike Oldfield Unboxed.

I have an issue that just appeared recently on HT5. My recently added movies on the main page (screen) are no longer in the order I have added them. I did a hardware reset but still same issue.
My movies are still in the same order under recently added movies as I added them on Emby and Plex.
Subsequently not using HT 5 anymore unfortunately, use Emby now on Zidoo but would like to revert back using HT5, I like the interface.

Yeah, I may revert the database but if the schema is different you’ll need to rematch at the end. Then my case was like 800/1000. Really tedious!!

How did you do it, have about 1245 movies.

You don't need to clear and rescan, the database repopulates for the current schema when you update, so unless you're having issues, there's nothing you need to do.

I've banged on about this since time immemorial but no-one seems to listen, the answer is usually along the lines of "well, Kodi/Emby/Dune/Blah-di-blah knockoff player will scrape Radioactive_Cannibal_Vikings_from_Hell.2007.2160p.STOLENFROMNETFLIXINMYPARENTSGARAGE.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.HDR.DV.VHS.BETA.265-NUMPTY.mkv, so why can't HT5?

My files are correctly named. In Emby and Plex my recently added movies come up the way I added them by date scanned. Never had a issue with both systems.
My 8k was algood all the time and it appeared to give problems after I did the HT5 update. It doesn't show up my recently added movies with the date I scanned it on. No longer in that sequence. Not sure what happened. Done a rescan, reset still not in the correct order. Emby and Plex are connected to the same network share as my Zidoo 8k and I have no problems with them.

Check what you have in HT/Settings/Preferences/The Latest Items

Options are "Date Added" or "Date Modified"

Unfortunately there is no "File Creation Date" option - I believe this is an Android issue.

Really not sure as I'm having many non-sense unmatching issues every time I add files to the DB. For example: The automatic scan doesn't detect the correct file name that you find in the list. Then click match from such list and save. Many times you find just one name in the list that Posterwall doesn't take automatically.

That is why I added to my post

"Then open Home Theater clear everything, just in case and restore the backup you made before you updated to V 4.3.70, which I am sure you did!

I had used McBluna's program in its early stages so personally I was aware of the change in db schema everytime a HT update was pushed. It was more of a post for the more casual user to provide info.

It was just for me that I did not want to have two update processes running. Once a further alpha or beta is pushed I will try again
