HT5 v4.3.70 ALPHA Test Version

This is a pre-release Alpha Version of Home Theatre 5 for the AMLogic S928 boxes only.

A lot of the movie and TV series matching function has been modified for more efficiency with bigger libraries and has a new Data Manager.

This is not currently added to firmware as it needs a lot of testing but is provided here for those who wish to try it. Just be aware that this is an Alpha and you may see unexpected results.

This being a plain .apk means we can uninstall and restore backup to go back to stock version, right?

 

If so, I'll find some time to verify fix 2. for the flashing posters. I have now found another half a dozen.

Scanning movies was significantly quicker!

When using TMDB I don't get a logo displayed for TV shows. Rematching that show with thetvdb fixes that.

 

I can confirm that 2. - flashing on some titles is now fixed on the titles that were giving me trouble previously.

I like the new data manager section that now houses some of the items that were under the database section previously and also has more entries.

Escape key on the keyboard doesn't work. I though there was a fix for that?

What is 4? Menu key in which context to do what?

What is 6? Is it the ability to toggle the device view from 1 per line to 3 per line?

Is Skip opening and end credits a new option? I've never noticed it before. It looks like it is only available for some series, not all. I think maybe it's only available if there is only one season, anything with multiple season does not have this skip option. I think this may be a more useful feature if it was configurable on a season by season basis, as the credit template tends to change between seasons.

 

Escape key is working here - can you elaborate where it doesn't work.

How does Allow creation of local episodes work? This sounds like a promising feature.

 

I'm running on top of 1.2.22, so maybe it's a fix that needs to come at the OS level, rather than app level.
I navigate to the "Movies", use down arrow a couple of times, then press ESC. Nothing happens.

 

Yes, the escape key fix is in the new beta firmware not the HT update.

It does this:

 

WARNING: A database backup created from this version of HT5 does not load into previous versions and in fact prior models. When tried it simply keeps the "spinning wheel" stating restoring. If you exit out then it crases HT5 requiring a complete reset and restore from a backup (You did make one? We were warned!)

 

OK, I've installed it and the box hasn't blown up so far.
So I can Manage Removed Videos and restore them. But what if I don't want to restore them .. how can I delete them from the list?

 

Selecting the video in "Managed Removed Videos" does exactly that - it removes them from the deletion list.

But obviously, next time you scan, the video will be restored to the database because it's in the source path and is not in the deletion list.

It must either reside in the deletion list or in the exception list (which you can define in "filters"), or of course just not be in the source path, in order not to be scanned.

 

Wait!, you mean it won't restore videos that I deleted rather than remove?



Joking aside, the data manager is another nice addition to HT5.

 

I still haven't figured out what this does? Anyone?

 

If a TV show has incomplete listings on TVDB, for example TVDB lists 16 episodes, but you have 17, the extra episode will be added by HT and you can edit details in the web interface if you want.
