Further to my previous post, I reinstalled HT 5.0, but it had no effect. Movies are not scraped in but are available through Media Player and ZDMC. Also, on closer inspection of the TV Shows in HT 5.0, some information is missing on the main movie poster page. For example, the fields that indicate Director and actors are blank. The movie plot is missing, and often there is no background poster image. Something is screwed up, and not sure on how to proceed. I did do a basic reset via the quick settings menu, which had then had no information in HT 5.0. However, trying to scan in the movies from my NAS had the same result as before. No movies recognised, but TV Shows sort of OK.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Just now noticed in the Zidoo Forum that there is an update to HT 5.0 that addresses issues with HT 5.0. I will try this update tonight.

At the moment I’m finding TMDB is a better source for matching TV series than TVDB. I think the volunteers at TMDB are quicker off the mark for adding details for new releases.

 

Z9X user HT 5.0 new to using poster wall, if scraping doesn't provide an image how does the plus button work as shown on the screen capture? I clicked it and navigated to where I have a .jpg file, selected it but nothing happens. I don't know what HT 5.0 expects, such as file type, location, size, etc. How do people learn how this works? Is there a guide somewhere?

Do you know if it's possible to automatically play a jingle or short video before a movie starts? For example: I select the movie I want to watch, and like at the cinema, a short jingle plays automatically once that video is finished.

Yes you can, go to Settings then Playback and scroll to Digital signage mode. Not quite straightforward but doable

 

Unless there is any difference with the 8k boxes, the 8k box just repeats the video file, rather than play once and then starts HT5.

Thanks for your reply, but in Settings, under Playback, I don't have Digital signage mode option. Perhaps it's because it's a Z20 Pro and that option isn't available on that model.

 

I've found the perfect app to make the digital signage setup a pure joy. It's called Lossless Cut. It's $18 on the Mac OS store. What it does is allows you to bring in your MKV file (or other format) and cut the precise scenes you want to show off without altering the original file. You can then save the clip to your choice of folder. I set up an "Atmos Demos" folder on my NAS and all the clips go in there by default. You can then add that folder in the Digital Signage settings. Each time you make a clip and store it in your designated folder (you can set the default in Lossless Cut) it will automatically show up in the signage folder on your Zidoo player. This clip is created without any re-encoding, i.e., it retains all its original video and audio properties. Not only does this make it very easy, but if you have more than one Zidoo player you can just make that same folder on each device and they're all there. This has been a great find. The app is supposed to be free but to insure no glitches I just purchased it and it works like a charm. If you are wanting a clip from an M2TS file, be sure that you save it in settings as an MKV for example or it won't play. That's the only exception I've come across - so far. I highly recommend it. If you're into this hobby the $18 should not be a deal breaker.
