    Hi

I’ve just bought a Z9X pro and i’m getting really frustrated with it, I have set it up and have added a number of folders with my movies which it has scanned, I then spent a time fixing the unmatched titles also correcting errors and changing some collections and it has now decided to rescan one of the folder setting everything back and undoing all my work what the hell is going on, why is it doing this ?

Sorry for the rant but it’s really annoying.

Not enough information to have any idea what's going on here.

If something changes in a source (eg a new movie is added or an old movie is removed) and Automatic updating sources is switched on, then HT will see that change and apply it to the database - either adding the movie or removing it in this example. But it doesn't overwrite existing database entries.

    Thanks for the reply,

I have a folders for 4K movies, 1080 movies and TV series. I had added the 4K movies and TV series and it scanned them and there were about 15 unmatched in the 4K movies so i went in a manually corrected them also I changed a couple of collections and added a collection (Cornetto Trillogy) about an hour later I added another 4K movie to the folder and a few minutes later the Zidoo started rescanning the whole folder right from the first file, I could see this as it said scannnning 1/116 and I immediately checked in the poster wall and it was repopulating it from the first movie undoing alll the work I had already done which was very annoying.

I’m not going to go in a redo the unmatched if it’s going to do this again and I haven’t even added the 1080 folder yet with hundreds of movies as I hate to think how long that will take to correct only for it to be all undone if it decides to rescanning that one as well.

I take it it’s only supposed to scan the new additions to the f9lder but it definitely rescanned everything.

Kind of got me stumped here - I must be missing something, but I haven't seen HT do that in all the time I've been using it, which is maybe 8 years.

It only iteratively scans when content is added, even if you select "Update" from the context menu in Sources.

The only way I can think to get it do as you describe is to remove the source and add it back again!

Yeah it’s strange, I will have another go and see if it does it again, thanks for the replies

Does the Win10 PC have a fixed IP address? I read somewhere that you need fixed address for it to work best.

Yes mate it does, the Zidoo doesn’t as I haven’t set one yet.

It's good practice to only use DHCP for transient devices (phones etc).

Anything permanent should be assigned a fixed IP address outside the DHCP range and always keep tabs on the addresses so you don't duplicate addresses which causes no end of problems.

Certainly servers should always have a static IP and although the Zidoo being on DHCP isn't really a huge problem (I generally have my test boxes on DHCP because they're rarely permanently installed), I'd recommend setting a static address for that too.

Yeah normally my devices have a fixed IP but as I have only just set this up I haven’t added it yet.

Mine did something similar until BOTH the Zidoo and my NAS has static IP addresses.

Thanks I have now given the Zidoo a fixed IP so will see how it goes.

    Thanks
