Help installing .apk on non G firmware

I have one .apk I want to install on my Z9X 8K that I have on my Z9X Pro.

I have always used the G version and install a paid app called 'Fotoo Photo Frame Slideshow' to replace the build in screensaver. I've got hold of the APK but can't seem to install using ApkInstaller or Aptoide.

Also how do you switch from the default screensaver to one of your choice?

 

Just navigate to where the apk is in Media Center and click on it.

Not sure - that's how I've installed the few apks I use.

 

Could you have the wrong version of the APK? Don't know if these boxes need the 64bit V8 or 32bit V7 builds.

 

Really don't know. However if there is no option to select your own screensaver there is no point installing it!

 

On Zidoo Z9X Pro I always needed to select armeabi-v7a arch to install. Maybe you need a different arch (arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86 or x86_64?) apk for the Zidoo Z9X 8K?

 

@blenky where did you source the app from. Ive ended up installing the APKPure app and then use its search and install process from there. It also alerts you to updates so that you can easily install newer version all in one place

 

I downloaded it from Apkpure web site and tried to install from media center. Also copied to USB stick and tried to install from the APK installer app on the Zidoo.

 

Just checking , have you enabled the security setting to install third party apks?

 

Yes, but this is all moot if I can't select another screen saver to be used as default. At the moment it looks as if that's not possible.,
