I checked the forum whether a topic like this already existed of not, but could not find it. So I will describe my problem in this new topic. I have installed a Crucial M.2 NVMe PCIE3, 4Tb in my DMP-A6. That went well, copying my music collection (7,600 albums, almost 72,000 music files) to the SSD went wel too. I have only a couple of SACD albums in my collection, one of them has 6 channel music. The majority of my collection consists of FLACs. I connected my DMP-A6 to my ARCAM AVR20 receiver not only via RCA (using the DAC of the player), but via HDMI as well (using the DAC of my receiver). That way I can listen to multi channel SACD's too. When I play music via HDMI, the music drops every now and then. Every now and then the music falls silent (the display on my ARCAM will not doesn't show "DSD 3.2.1" anymore), and then the music returns, so does the display on my ARCAM. These drops are only 0.5of a second, sometimes 1 second longer. Btw, these drops occur with playback of standard 2 channel FLACs and MP3s as well, so not only when playing multi channel SACDs. When using the RCA output, all music plays ok, without any problems. But then I have not the joy of multi channel listening. What could be wrong? Or what am I doing wrong?
Hi See whether this is applicable in your case. If you have the A6 HDMI connected to a AVR and then AVR HDMI output connect to a TV or screen, you might need to "disable" the AVR HDMI output when the A6 is selected. The intermittent interruption could be due to HDMI resync, as A6 has no video out. I have a similar setup, using Yamaha AVP 5200 and face similar interruption if I don't disable the Yamaha output hdmi port. Hope it help
Thanks for your reply! I could try this of course, but then I have to change this setting back and forth every time when I watch tv or a movie and listening to multi channel music.
I guess you could try it to see whether this is the cause. For me, the Yamaha has Scenes which determine a set of parameters for a particular input. Thus when I select that input, it will disable the output port. Not sure whether Arcam has similar setup. Thanks
Per the HDMI spec, there will be video out, along with audio, as the audio is interlaced with the video. That said, the video might just be a blank/black signal. To the OP, maybe a bad HDMI cable, HDMI cable not seated/inserted fully, or your display, if off, is still sending a handshake inquiry? Does it happen if you disconnect the HDMI cable from the display? Similarly, what length HDMI cables are you using? If possible, should stick to 6 foot / 2 m cables (as this is what the spec is written around), nothing shorter, and longer only if needed. Also, is the A6 (and ARCAM) software up to date?
Great! Yes, doing it this way the A6 has a chance to establish a proper HDMI connection. Maybe there's also some sort of negotiating on available HDMI capabilities.
Hi, I have been fighting against this problem through several years and also noticed it came from my Sony Bravia TV while in stand by mode. I was trying different ways to resolve it with no result. My AVR is ONKYO TX-RZ900 and the same issue I had playing with OPPO 203 and earlier with DENON 1713. It occured with three SONY TV models. When I bought Eversolo DMP-A6 ME a week ago hoped it would not happen, yet I was wrong. Changing turning on devices order does not help. One thing really helps: to unplug HDMI TV output in AVR or HDMI IN in TV but of course it is very inconvenient. Fortunatelly in ONKYO I can disable MAIN HDMI TV output and switch to SUB HDMI TV output (not used) and everything works fine. This switching is not a problem for me because it takes only four pressings on the remote. As I know, similar problem is with Phillips TVs.
I found, indeed, it is my Samsung s95c TV, it must be unplugged. And no more drops.... I changed my TV a few weeks ago, I didn't have this problem with my old Panasonic. All in all, it's a difficult and not easy to unplug the TV, but everything works. Thanks all
I installed a wifi connected socket. So I turn off my TV with my smartphone. No more problems. I tested other sources, like my Oppo 203, but also my Dune Hd in audio, and I have drops. so it is indeed my Samsung TV which is the origin of the drops.
Yes, it's another solution BUT!: three days ago my SONY Bravia TV KD 75 ZH8 received a new firmware with upgrading Android from 9 to 10 and now - BOOM! There are not any audio drops even without switching HDMI output to SUB! After many years SONY did it in the end! I have checked both with EverSolo and OPPO and it works up till now and I hope it to be continued
