Frustrated with Z2000 pro

Discussion in 'HDD Media player(RTD 1619BPD)' started by Viking lost down under, Aug 29, 2025.

  1. Thanks m8. Could you please post the apps page as it should look like. I'll remove anything that is not supposted to be there.
I know for a fact I did not install ZDnet. I don't even know what it does.

Ok, so I put the same wallpaper on mine to give you a frame of reference and this is the apps page on my Z9X Pro. I was wrong about ZD Link - it is included, so that was a red herring.

    upload_2025-9-17_13-57-27.png

However, your icons are really old ones and even the apps screen itself isn't right - no heading, the focus is wrong and the icons top right and top left are wrong.

I went back to the old X9S (circa 2016), which is the oldest Zidoo box I have, and even that didn't have those icons.

Your update page shows a Z2000 Pro with the latest firmware (v1.0.95) but that app page is not from that box and not from that firmware at all so I've no real idea what's going on.

I know there were some OEM boxes released from 3rd part manufacturers based on Zidoo hardware with their own firmware but that's not the case here - I can see the box on your picture and it's got a Zidoo logo on it.

I mean it kind of explains the errant behaviour somewhat and the presence of YouTube - somehow your box seems to be in some weird hybrid state.

To give me a clue here, if you go into Music Player, what version does it say it is - there'll be an "about" screen somewhere in there.

Does the box have some peculiar provenance?

Hmm - I may be wrong in the assessment above, I just found an image of the apps page of a UHD5000 in a Google search and it looks similar to yours with those old icons, so it may be that the Cancer UI on the premium boxes uses those icons and focus etc.

However, that doesn't explain the presence of YouTube.

If you press the menu button with focus on the YouTube app do you get the option to uninstall it?

  4. Version 7.0.
I've just un-installed you tube for the 10th time and turned of my media player.
If you are correct about it not been RIGHT, can I download previous versions of the firmware and install them in sequence????
I know some players won't allow it.
Z2000 Pro with the latest firmware (v1.0.95) was because it wouldn't get posters for 2025.
I only bought this unit last year 5th of July, I was told that it was installed with the latest firmware. I also believe it had a automatic update.
I checked the update log, did not exist.

    just downloaded firmware:

    1.048
    1.052
    1.065
    1.075
    1.086
    1.095
Where should I start????? All my work will have to be destroyed and I'll have to start all over again anyhow.

Ok, so Music Player Version 7 is correct.

About Youtube - for it to be installed you had to have done that yourself - it doesn't come with the firmware. Uninstalling Youtube should be permanent - it can't reinstall itself, at least not unless Cyberdyne Systems are involved...

But, if you want to properly reset, you can do the following - but you have to follow the instructions exactly:

Download the full reset firmware here:

    http://apidl.zidoo.tv/1619B/Z2000-PRO_11_v1.0.52_202307201751_usb-install.img

    And do the following:

    Emergency Flash Procedure
    =========================

    1. Copy file to empty FAT32 USB stick

    2. Rename file to "install.img"

    3. Turn off player using switch on back

    4. Plug USB stick into USB 3.0 Port (a blue one)

    5. Press and hold reset button with something pointy while applying power

    6. Wait for on screen confirmation then release reset button.

**Do not turn off during this procedure**

Once this is done you have a clean install of v1.0.52

Now install the latest firmware version using the normal method from here:

    http://apidl.zidoo.tv/Z2000_PRO/v1.0.95/Z2000-PRO_11_v1.0.95_202407201604_ota-package.zip

And now you have a clean box on the latest firmware.

One last thing to do is install the latest version of Home Theatre from here:

    https://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?th...db-fix-v4-3-52-realtek-1619bpd-models.100384/

Now you have a new box on the latest firmware with the latest HT and no Youtube anywhere in sight.

  6. Thanks M8, I'll let you know how I go. Have to go up on PC to do this.

But I can tell you that I do not like you tube full stop, so I couldn't see myself installing it

Honestly, it's not included in the firmware and as I've said a few times, is simply not supported on these devices.

  8. LOL heard you the last 10 times
about 2 hours to d/l img file, so if I'm quick I might get a few hours sleep yet. (after AM 4.30)

  9. I'll try and write this as understandable as possible. I have only watched a couple of episodes in the last 4 weeks.
During this time youtube has re install once a week for 4 weeks.
First time was 3 to 4 days after my last post.
Second time was a week later at give or take 1/2 at 4AM in the morning after I heard the harddrive making a lot of noise.
Over the next 2 days I ran multiple programs to detect if any thing was installing from my laptop including viruses etc. as the laptop was allways on 24/7.
Nothing was found at all. I than did the same with PC, same result.
After this I started to get paranoid so whenever the harddrive spun up, I would quickly change HDMI and check.
Third time it happend was last Wednesday at around 2PM and the last one was today at around 12AM.

Picture 2 comes all the time, cannot cancel, have to accept. I DO NOT know what is trying to access media player and I do not recognize the RSA key fingerprint.
Picture 1 is where I used Media players own program to remove Youtube (1st time).

If Media player hasn't been rebooted the Youtube part will not dissapear, but after a reboot it isn't there anymore.

Ah 0k, so let's step back a bit here:

    1. Youtube does not come with the firmware, therefore you must have installed it.

    2. A factory would completely remove Youtube and that would be the end of it.

    3. From the picture you sent, that's just a launch on startup switch, it does not uninstall Youtube or disable it in any way - you still have Youtube installed and Youtube seems to have a startup routine of it's own - I don't know for sure as I've never installed it on a Zidoo, because as I say, it's not supported.

To uninstall Youtube you have to go to the apps page, press the menu key (bottom right of cursor pad) and select "Uninstall". Once you've done that it can't come back. It's gone.

I've no idea where the USB debug thing is coming from, but because of that I'd probably do a factory reset:

I think you said earlier you'd done this, but since Youtube is still installed, you can't have done (despite what you say, it can't reinstall on its own!).

    To do this go to:

    Settings/Other/Recovery and reset/Restore factory

  11. Hi m8, I just lost 1/2 hours of reply to you as your site sighned me out as I was writing, so when I went to save it the webpage crashed with an error code and like magic all my work was gone.

Only stuff done sinse 4 weeks ago was what you told me to do.

LOOK BELOW. SO PLEASE STOP INSULTING ME. I've been into computers (microsoft OS) for 40 years and during that time I've buildt over 20 PC's; done fault finding and have helped loads of profesionel people. I've only been into
Android for less than 10 years (media players and Samsung phones only). I contacted you as I was rattled, as nothing made sense.

"Download the full reset firmware here:

    http://apidl.zidoo.tv/1619B/Z2000-PRO_11_v1.0.52_202307201751_usb-install.img

    And do the following:

I shall now start all over again, but not until tomorrow.

If that doesn't work you need to call an exorcist.

  13. Had this one again this morning. It is the OS that is produsing it, like an error message.
I think I need to call an exorcist. ROFLOL

That's a really odd one - it basically means another client is trying to connect to the box by ADB (USB debugging is a bit of a misnomer, it should really just be called ADB - Android Debug Bridge).

    However!

If you go into Developer Settings (which has been made deliberately unavailable on these boxes because the options are disabled in the SDK) you see that USB Debugging - or ADB - is enabled. But it isn't because of the AML SDK - so if you try to connect with, for example, an ADB client in windows, the connection is refused and more importantly you don't see a popup on the box.

It used to be enabled back in the days when we were first alpha testing engineering boxes, but it was locked down before release, and indeed there was a hardware iteration also.

So I've absolutely no idea what the hell that's doing on your box. But it needs a good clean out.

    And holy water.

Actually - scrap all that - I just realised you're using a BPD box and not an AML one... o_O

Ok - so that box has Developer Options available (if you activate it in the usual way), and ADB is switched on by default.

So, if a client on your network attempts to connect to it by ADB, you'll see that popup.

So something on your network is spuriously squirting out an ADB connection to your box.

My suspicion is that it's the Nvidia Shield.

You can figure it out using either logcat in ADB or a utility like nmap from a PC to do a port scan for port 5555, but it needs a bit of Android and network kung fu.

If you just want to turn ADB off on the box, enable and go into Developer Options and switch it off "USB Debugging" in there and that will kill those popups.

  15. ROFLOL, I'll have to ask my sister for the holy water, her being the good catholic. She will blame me for not being religious.

I'm glad that I can turn that off. Now that you mention it there is a you tube on the Nvidia Shield. It's never been a problem before, but it could be the culprit.
I'll have to get the stake and hammer out and make sure it is dead and dose it with holywater and maybe a prayer. Definitely need the services of my sister, I better make a phonecall.

  18. Hi m8

That must already be turned of in mine, no such screen.

I just 15 min. ago heard the harddrive working like the clappers, so I swicthed HDMI and see what I found and uninstalled. Looks like I'll have to live with that devil (youtube).

After 2 factory resets I'me no further along than I was 8 - 10 weeks ago.

Guessing you haven't enabled Developer Options then (Settings/Other/About/Advanced Settings/Device Preferences/About and click on the Android Build 7 times)

I'm seriously not trying to insult you, but if you have done a factory reset, by definition, YouTube can't be installed. It just can't.

But look - let's forget about all that - do the firmware flash thing as you mentioned here:

    https://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/frustrated-with-z2000-pro.101319/page-3#post-267002

    That's essentially an exorcism!!

I'll eat my pirate hat if you do that and Youtube is still there.

  20. Now this is a new one for me
