    And is that repeatable?

I know that there is absolutely no intrinsic issue with playing HEVC files such as this on these boxes so that leads to four possibilities:

    1. A hardware fault with the box
    2. A firmware corruption in the box
    3. A faulty file
    4. An issue with file delivery

From years of experience I can say that 1 & 2 although possible, are unlikely. I could count the number times I've heard of faulty hardware on one hand, and I don't think I've ever come across a case of corrupt firmware - I've seen people brick boxes many times, but never seen firmware corrupt.

  2. YES, it is repeatable. I just checked some other series that I was finished watching and noticted That they were marked as read hymmmmm. If I did a total reset how did it know That they had been seen???????

Watched status is kept in a SQL database - if you do a factory reset that database is deleted.

  4. I could have sworn that was what I did. Does it store it in NFO files???? As I had them stored on the hard drive.

  5. I was fixing the rest of my collections this morning and the media player crashed again. It exited the poster wall and to the groups are, and then you could see it refeshing the whole window as the tv series that I was watching were gone.
They are now back after window is refreshed.

You can export local NFOs and local artwork from the Library menu in HT settings.

The NFOs are standard Kodi format and can also be exported from the likes of Tiny Media Manager (https://www.tinymediamanager.org/)

You can use NFOs and local artwork in scraping by setting their priority in Preferences. Of course if an NFO is not present when you scrape, it will fall back to online resources - TMDB etc.

  7. Thanks for your help, appreciate it. My M8 in Broken Hill uses Tiny Media Manager, he's always raving about it.
Now all I have do is learn more about the media player. I was looking for a users manual for it, all I got so far are absolutely useless.
Do you happen to know where I can get one???????????

Unfortunately there are only rudimentary manuals available - basic how to connect it sort of stuff - it's kind of why this forum is here - because things change so quickly with these and any media box, you'll never find a manual in the same way you would for say, for an AV amp.

  9. Thanks for the info

I kinda figured I can't give you a magic bullet here because I don't really understand what the problem is - what I do know is that these boxes don't normally give users this much grief and are usually pretty much bomb proof.

Ok the older boxes are a bit crap at BluRay Menus, a situation that is much improved in the latest boxes, but everything else, all things being equal, simply works - so I figure that the more you understand how it works, the more it'll become easier to sort out the problems.

  11. Thanks anyhow. I just got home, been out with friends for the past 12 hours and guess what! Youtube had reinstall and launched it self waiting for a password as I said earlier in the week, a gadget from HELL

It can't do that on a Zidoo.

  13. I agree that it shouldn't be able to do that, But I live here by myself and I'm telling you that I didn't do it. I might have accidently hit the enter key if I picked up the wrong remote.
    I'm gob smacked

All I can tell you is that YouTube is not part of the Zidoo firmware so the chances of it installing by itself are the same as your toaster nipping down to the shops, buying a loaf of bread, putting a slice in its slot and asking you to push the lever down.

  15. Then my toaster is nipping down to the shops, buying a loaf of bread, putting a slice in its slot and asking you to push the lever down.

So are you suggesting that I keep installing it or are you saying that I have a VIRUS on it???????????????????????????

    Lol

No, a virus is VERY doubtful, particularly one that wilfully installs YouTube! I've never known a virus on a media box in all the years (decades) I've been doing this.

  17. Just thought I would let you know the fantom self installing youtube is back.
Yesterday when I got back from the hospital I switched over to media player to watch star trek (not been on media player for at least 5 days).
1st thing I saw was 1st.jpg, 2nd place I went is not hard to guess.
Then I started to watch star trek, a touch after 7 min. the media player crashed nothing on tv. I than pressed return on remote and I got 3rd.jpg.
I was unable to get anywhere else on player and had to re-boot unit. this is where 4th.jpg comes in, this was the 1st screen that came up.
The 5th.jpg I've done 8 times now, so no need to explain.

By the time all of this was processed I had started to calm down and stopped swearing.
    Today I'm just ROFLOL. enjoy

I literally have no idea what’s happening with your box - I’m away at the moment so I can’t check, but the apps page icons look different which is why I asked for that screen shot.
I didn’t think ZDnet was included on those boxes for example.
These boxes do not support YouTube. They don’t come with YouTube, so you have to install it manually and if you either deinstall it or factory reset there’s no way it can be there unless you install it again.
I’ll check when I get home on Monday..
