Frustrated with Z2000 pro

Discussion in 'HDD Media player(RTD 1619BPD)' started by Viking lost down under, Aug 29, 2025.

  1. I still have movies that crash and player needs to be rebooted.
    1. I've un-installed you tube 6 times and it has come back 5 times by it self. (no updates)

    2. watching reels on facebook some start up with a lot of stop start then play normally, others have no problems.

    3. multiple crashings per episode / film needing a re-boot afterwards

    4. Déjà vu severel times as well. While playing it will suddenly jump back a few seconds and continuing to
    play from there.

watching star trek (3) happend 7 - 8 times and (4) happend 2 or 3 times. Thought maybe it has to do with the compression used on episodes. I dis-regarded that idea after what happend next when I left to defrost a couple of pies for lunch.

    5. new episode started up by it self (different tv series), I paused it. and went out and had my lunch. After lunch this next thing had happen.

    6. It had jumped from my paused episode to storage and DELETED something. When I tried to leave message came up saying that my posters were deleted and that I would need to replace them.

I re-booted the unit and noticed that all still had their posters. In case you ask I'm using firmware version 1.0.9.5 beta. I have now categorized this player as THE PLAYER FROM HELL.

I hope someone can help me sort out this f**** s*** out

  2. I just played over 18 hours of a game without a problem. Then utube re-installed it self, I uninstalled it and re-booted unit and for the last 6 hours that same game has kept on crashing every 15 min. or so.

Zidoo boxes are specifically designed for high quality playback of local content - they are not designed for 3rd party apps, not designed for online streaming, do not support YouTube, Facebook etc and are certainly not designed for games!

Sounds like you need something like an Nvidia Shield if that's what you're trying to do.

  4. markswift2003, for your information I have a Nvidia Shield. what I've been trying to find out what the problemis with my my media player. normaly if I want to play games I do it on my PC upstairs, and this is always single shooter games.I like internet games, and don't like multiplayer games. Last of all I'm comming up to 73 years of age. At the present I'm giving away a PC and a laptop and thousands of dollars of hardware.

From what you said, the problem seems to be that you're trying to use it for things other its intention, which as I said above, is local media playback.

  6. I've done a total reset, so now it is totally clean. I'll be able to see movies some time tomorrow when it is finished scrapping.

  7. markswift2003, for your information, It all just started again. Nothing but Zidoo stuff on it and I'm still setting everything up the way I want it. All that was installed was your update to show 2025 posters.

    1. Déjà vu severel times as well. While playing it will suddenly jump back a few seconds and continuing to play from there.

Twice it jumped to youtube on second rtime I re-booted unit.

    2. Watching The institute this happend 3 times and (1) happend once and I rebooted the system.

If you tell me what logs I need to send you to prove what I'm saying and where to find them.
    This would be appreciated.

    1. I don't understand why you refer to YouTube? It doesn't support YouTube.

    2. What is the source?

  9. 1. I just know it is there,

    2. have no idea what the source is.

I assumed it was part of the media player as it came back after a total reset.
That was why asked about the logs as they should be able to shed some light on the problem.

    I'm utterly confused.

The Z2000 Pro is a local media player - that means it plays local files either from its hard disc if you installed one, from a USB disc if you plugged one in, or from a local network source, for example a PC or a NAS drive.

The most common type of file to use is mkv followed by BluRay ISOs and BDMVs but as we all know, support for BD Menu is scratchy (much better on the new models though).

What it's not designed to do is to stream video from the internet - it doesn't support YouTube, it doesn't support Netflix, it doesn't support Amazon Prime Video etc etc etc.

I believe there's an app called Smart Tube which allows it to play YouTube content but I've never tried it and its support is not by design.

You said you did a factory reset and yet are still trying to use it for Youtube - how? it doesn't have a YouTube app!

When I asked what the source was I meant was, what type of file and where from - for example an mkv file from a local hard disc.

  11. I have a 20 TB drive in media player where all my files are. EG music, movies, TV series and personal home videos and pictures. My Nvidia Shield TV runs my plex server so that my relatives in Denmark can watch and a couple of friends in Australia as well. It conects to the HD via network cable to find files and pc and laptop as well as movies etc are transfered via both of these.

I have never liked youtube and I'm fed up with facebook. All these other things like, games I mainly play on the pc. I've got games going all the way back to DOS, and solitaire games from Microsoft. I have no games on laptop.
I have 3 games on the Nvidia Shield TV.

Formats on 20TB drive are avi, dvd, a couple of iso's, mpg 4 and mkv. Music are wav and mpg 3. Personal home videos and pictures are Mov and various pictrure formats.

I can tell you this I'm totally pissed with that youtube as it blows up my network as well. This means I have to re-boot PC, Laptop, mediaplayer and Nvidia Shield TV all have to be re-booted before they will talk together.

Ok - Thank you - I understand a lot more about your setup now!

So, forgetting about Youtube and Facebook and all the stuff that has nothing to do with the Z2000 Pro - what is the problem you're having with the Z2000 Pro?

  13. I just realized I put chrome which I've removed. what I don't get is if I did a full reset, WHY was chrome on it????

When I watch movies + TV services I get Déjà vu where theygo back a second or more and then continues. When this happens a ballon pops up with some writting in it, it does not stay long enough for me to read it.
Next thing that usually happens is that it jumps out to the main menu screen.
I also sat and watched it jump down the file directory an wanted to have me say ok to what it was about to do. The same thing happend today when I grabbed a cup of coffee.(all the way to file directory and I'm not even touching the remote.

I allways leave unit turned on 24/7, maybe this could be the cause?????

I leave my test units on 24/7 and have never had an issue with that.

    Still none the wiser.

Can you provide a MediaInfo report of a file that has problems. If you don't have it, MediaInfo can be downloaded here:

    MediaInfo - Download

  15. I downloaded it and installed it on media player but it doesn't appear to work. I run episode first jump out to start mediainfo and get told that nothing is playing. So I do in the other way and still no luck.

This is done playing through a windows player, hope this will do.

  17. I kept on watching it in windows, It appears that the compression used is to high and it is missing frames. That could be the problem.

Yes, that's perfect - but there's nothing odd in there at all - that file should play like a breeze on a Zidoo.

  19. That was the 0ne that crashed the system this morning 3 times before I posted again first time this morning.

    I'm at a total loss.

  20. I just cast the last episode to my TV. I'll watch it through plex next time. My ass feels like I rode a horse the last 43 min.
All through the episode the film went forward - stop - forward etc and sections missing in between.
