Firmware-Update V 1.4.70—80#(beta)

Discussion in 'Eversolo DMP-A6' started by Imaodoloro, May 28, 2025.

  1. Are you checking from the update app in the apps section? As opposed to checking from the about screen or the phone app settings.

    Updated to .76 today.
Scrolling through local file folders (on SSD or USB) still is a pain: first slow, then stops to load cover art, then finally crashes while scrolling back and forth in the list a little bit.

@Support: Are you even aware of this issue? You ignore all my complaints about this so far.
If you do not intent to fix this (soon!), please say so. I will sell my DMP-A6 then and replace it with... I will be so polite not to mention the competitor's device by name in your own forums.

    Edit:
    To say something positive:
    - The "app does not connect anymore issue" can be fixed by removing the device from the app and adding it again.
    - The "does not jump to play screen" when starting to play a track is fixed.

    It`s not their own forum.

And yes, the bluesound node icon may be a competitor.

If it didn't have that horrible casing that makes it look like an old photocopier or an old paper shredder that you put on the trash can. :p;)

Hello, good evening. I read a couple of posts back that with the factory reset of the device it is possible that the update will be triggered. My question is the following: when doing this, will the music stored on the internal SSD be lost or only the music that was in the device's internal memory? I'm asking this in case I need to extract the SSD before proceeding with the reset. Thank you very much, and I look forward to your answers.

Your internal SSD and music files on it will be safe if you do a factory reset. The internal memory will be affected however.

    I agree
But the device I am talking about is not a node. It's a flower... a "Hifi Flower"

But again there is something nice which I can say about the DMP-A6: it has a beautiful design in my eyes. But nevertheless, bugfree functionality is more important.

More than 3X the cost. Apples to Orangutans. A6 has bugs and is far from perfect but still offers the most bang for the buck.

True. But I didn't compare them at all. I just said that I will replace one with the other.
I don't want to sound snobbish, but if the price were this important to me I would now have a WIIM Ultra, not a DMP-A6 ME.

What I want is a device without major bugs.
Some I can ignore, because I don't need to use the related functionality. E. g. if Spotify Connect were bugged, I wouldn't care, I do not use Spotify.
But playing local FLAC files is important to me, because I have a huge collection of them. Many of then are rare and not available on TIDAL (my preferred streaming service).
So I cannot ignore the lag/crash issue when scrolling through local file lists with more than 100 files within the folder.
And I am perfectly willing to pay 3x the costs for a device without this bug (and some other advantages, e.g. in connectivity.
    Thank you for your understanding

Handling big folders and playing folders with many tracks has been improved a lot with FW 1.4.76. Tested with folders having 1000 or 2000 entries myself. Never saw a crash doing so.
You may try screen mode and browse folders using the APP from there. It is blazing fast.

  12. Not saying the big is acceptable in any way. But I’m just wondering if there’s a workaround that might save another purchase. Can you not organise your collection with subfolders eg… by alphabet letter - artist - album. Would that stink cause an issue. Also it seems to be at odds with other reports which suggests the new firmware sorts the large collection bug somewhat.

    Hello @Nice Monkey,
thank you so much for your input. You are the first to even acknowledge that there is or was an issue with scrolling trough larger local file lists. Not much people seem to use the DMP-A6 in this way.

I have 1.4.76 since yesterday, but sadly I saw no improvement in this matter. When scrolling through my FLACS, the app stops to scroll after 100 tracks, shows the "please wait circle" in the middle of the app screen for 8 to 10 seconds, and then lets me scroll the next 100 tracks and pauses again.
If it were 1 or 2 seconds, never mind but 8 to 10 seconds is just too much.
Scrolling on the touchscreens of the DMP-A6 itself is okay, there are no noticable delays. It's the app.
Is this what you mean with "screen mode", to use the touchscreen of the DMP-A6?
Otherwise I have to ask, what is "screen mode"?
    Thank you.

Stops for 8 to 10 seconds to load:

After some scrolling back and forth, it stops loading cover art at all:

At least, this time I did not get the app to crash.

    I understand you.
I am not rich, I am not eager to spend another 2,5K.
And the Flower is not as beautiful as the DMP-A6 and also has no Tidal Connect. These facts would be setbacks.
But I also do not want to accept that my 1,2K player cannot perform the simple task of scrolling through a list of 480 tracks without major delays and crashes.
Maybe normal people could learn to accept this, but I am a "Sheldon" in such matters.

If there even were a response from Eversolo, like "We acknowlegde the issue, we are working on it and we will fix it soon.".
But there is nothing, no light at the end of the tunnel.

Screen is the new name for Cast, casts the streamer screen onto your device that has the app installed, so you can mimic exactly what you would do on streamer screen itself.

    THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!

I was not aware of this "screen" function!
It's not only a nice feature to operate the device, it also scrolls through the file list without any delay and also the cover art is now loaded in an instant.

I can live with this workaround.
You made me love my DMP-A6 ME again

Thank you again and have a nice day or evening, whereever you are in the world.

    @Celsi_GER
Forgot to read this one? It makes me a bit sad as a lot of time went into writing this.
    https://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?th...rsolo-dmp-a6-streamers-gen-1-and-gen-2.95817/
It was made for just that purpose. Update for the recent FW changes is done!

That problem with big folders and big number of tracks was reported for the Zidoo line of media players 2 generations ago (roughly 3 years). But what matters is that it has been solved finally.
I asked to also bring the same fix to those old(er) generations but if it ever happens?
Yes most people use the player only as a streamer and only a minority for playing local content.

The APP itself has more actions being (extremely) slow but have all confidence it has their attention.

    Hi Bob,
Have you had a chance to check my issue, where the playback screen does not automatically open when playback starts?
    Thanks

I know most folks don’t often agree or operate there, Eversolo unit as such, However, this is just one of the reasons I don’t even bother with the internal SSD , Not that it’s a big deal installing or uninstalling it from the bottom of the unit, but I think it much better and safer. I will only use an external drive, In which also gives me other benefits, I can readily disconnect the external drive and virtually use it or take it anywhere or disconnect it in a matter of seconds, I did do a couple factory resets in the past, but it was of no big deal as the unit was fairly new to me then and there wasn’t much going on in way of SSD storage

some folks make a comment as to the unit sounds better with the SSD inserted into the unit. I spent about eight hours one day you might say I had some extra time on my hands swapping from internal to external there were four people here, including me that have all been in the AUDIO since the 70s No one could hear any difference whatsoever, but you have to remember. We’re just a bunch of old guys, but where the sounding better comes difference comes in at I have no clue we couldn’t distinguish one from the other

always preferred external drives no matter what it was but good luck with that. Hope you have all your problem. Rectified enjoy the music, sorry about the text talk. I’m sure there are a few script and consistencies

so sorry, I forgot to mention one other important factor as a matter of fact quite important when it comes to these types of devices also by running an external drive, you keep any and all heat out of the internals of the unit which I believe there was a big or somewhat of a debate on the nature of this particular subject, but yes, absolutely that’s why the internal housing of the SSD is loaded with heat sinks because they do produce and create a fair amount of heat again I don’t believe it’s enough to actually cause any harm to the unit itself, but I looked at it this way
HEAT is the number one enemy of computers, streamers, etc. if I can keep any such heat produce producing device out of the unit the better I feel as though the unit so you just totally eliminated any thermal problems. Yes believe me sometimes they get pretty warm. sorry about that
