Hi all, New in this forum.I bought a DAC Eversolo Z8 a week ago. Overall I am very happy with the sound and the features it has.But I'm encountering a few problems that I think can be solved at the software level. After playing DSD files, white noise begins to be heard, which is not affected by anything other than restarting the device. The other problem I encounter with playing DSD files is random pops like from a vinyl record.Tested with latest stable version of JRIVER and also FOOBAR 2000.Not using resampling, i tried also changing the buffer- noting helps. Firmware version is 1.0.0.56 Windows 11 64 bit based PC with i5 12500h intel processor 32 gb ddr5 ram.

Thanks for the replay Orangutan. I saw your discussion.I thought that if more people reported it, the problem would be addressed. So my guess is I should live with it or look up for another device.
what DSD files do you play on it? How is the DAC connected to the windows machine? I use a Raspberry Pi 4 (with moOde, aka Linux) to play music on it, and I experience neither pops/clics during playback, nor white noise once stopping it... I am not on the latest release, though... (maybe you are... do you happen to have some VUs screens that show not two, but only one VU meter? if so, you are on the latest; but I doubt it would cause the clicks/pops... unless you attempt to play a DSD > 512, which is the maximum the Z8 can do)
DAC is connected with the original usb cable to usb 3 port on the laptop.The path is JRiver with ASIO driver ->usb to DAC ->XLR output to active monitors Yanaha HS8.I made test with different DSD files and all gives same result.Pops and clics comes mostly with 512 DSD, but hiss is there with any type from 64 to 512.The DAC comes with 1.0.0.52 firmware.When i noticed some problems update it to 1.0.0.56 (this with more vu meters).
Try a USB 2 port... it may sound stoopid, but just try. You lose nothing in terms of quality and speed; USB is asynchronous and jitter-free by definition.
Don't know if, at this point, a type-C hub with USB2 ports would help; it's the only thing I can come up with... ETA Please note, these are just suggestions to TRY with a USB2 port; it could well not work as: 1. it could be a firmware problem 2. you could have a faulty unit Also note, that buffer sizes when dealing with DSD, are big. I mean, seriously big. kind of 128MB but even more.

I live in Stroevo (you may know it... it's about 15km from Plovdiv, towards Karlovo, near Trud) During the day I work at the Stroevo's Dairy (Mandra) so that I am, eventually, only available MON to SAT in the evenings, after, say, 19:00, or on sundays (but not too early in the morning...) You may just need to bring over your DAC AND some DSD files that are giving you trouble. We can then test them on my system; we could also check your DAC on my system as well. I sometimes have white noise when I start a track in DSD128 format I play via roon from an Intel NUC (Windows 11 64bit), and I use Thesycon 5.58 driver But support is a bit of a foreign word at Eversolo, so we probably won't see a new driver in the near future, but it could be that it could solve the problem But I think Eversolo forgot all about the two dacs after they came out with the first streamer (DMP-A6)
I continue my tests and found something interesting.White noise comes when play DSD file whatever bitrate it is, but ONLY if volume knob of the DAC is set up -10 DB or any down.If you turn the volume to 0 DB the white noise dissapears.I also found this bug-when pause the music and the volume knob is again -10 db or down the VU meters are start shaking randomly.If you turn the volume to 0 db while in pause they stop shaking. I am thinking that this really needs bug fix of firmware/drivers.Hope someone at tech stuff see this and take care!
