Eversolo Play - volume issue?

Hi there, I'm hoping someone may be able to give me some advice? I've just swapped out 2 x NAD M10 V2 units for Eversolo Play. They are being paired with Q Acoustics Concept 300 speakers. However, when I connect the Play, I'm literally having to turn up the volume to c85% of it's range to then hear the speakers, which is leaving me very short of headroom on the volume - any help/guidance would be much appreciated?

 

I have the same issue .. I’ve USB to a Topping E70 Velvet and then Monoblocks for more power!

 

Yep I’m also having the same issue trying to drive JBL L52s. Have to push it to 75-80% to get to regular listening volumes.

 

Clearly the amplifier even though states 100w at 4 Ohms in reality, it’s not .. That said, still like the Play..

 

Me too! Even though I use 80% volume I still feel it’s dynamic. No distortion either! What speakers are you using?

Using a Play here with my AsciLAB F6B, which are not the easiest load, -20 on the volume is really loud and obviously capable of hearing damaging volume, sitting around 2.5M away.

You can adjust the gain in the EQ setting to give it a little more oomph. I noticed this yesterday while playing with my unit. Definitely made a difference. I do believe the unit could use a bit more power, but this option works to tweak it as well.

 

At the risk of clipping, I wouldn’t advise adding gain there.

Either you guys are all close-to-deaf, or I am really, really oooold (the two are not mutually exclusive, though)
When I listen to -20dB on my system, at 2.5m distance from the speakers, it seems to me the whole neighborhood notices it...
My actives are 106dB sensitive, so I am actually listening, to some extent, at 86dB...
TBH, it is freaking loud to me; but there are tracks that you simply cannot listen to at any lower volume...

 

Definitely has to be a difference in the speakers we are using. I am running the Play on Polk Signature Elite ES15. These are 85db sensitive. I previously had the Wiim Amp connected and swear it sounded louder, and it too is only 60W@8 ohms. I might reconnect to compare. Anyway for me, currently listening at -15db and it's comfortable, not loud by any means. Thus reason I mentioned to increase gain to boost it a bit more as, what someone already mentioned, doesn't seem to have much headroom left to crank up

 

Uh, that indeed makes things on my side as if I were listening at -40 / -45 (which I do, but I rather call it critical listening, and I do it by night, not to offend anybody nearby...) which is, to my ears, low in volume...
I do not see much you can do, apart from listening at -6dB (that would give you more than double the perceived volume), but I am afraid you might enter the higher-distortion area of both the ampo and the speakers...
Are your speakers close to side / back walls? Are they in a corner? If the answer of these questions is NO, try to position them in such a scenario; the perceived sound pressure should increase. Try at different distances, but, IMHO, never go as close as below 1.5ft / 50cm, as the bass-bump could become annoying...
It may, or it may not help; that depends on how big your room is, and at what distance you'll be listening, of course, but still worth a try.

Hi there, thanks for this, which speaker have you paired it with?

 

Mine are active studio monitors (nothing fancy, or super-expensive) Pre\sonus EX5 and Presonus Temblor 12'' active sub.
My outs (XLR) go into the sub, then the sub outs (again XLR) go into each of the speakers.
Speakers and sub volume is set to UNITY (which is 0dB, no gain / no attenuation)
sub lowpass => 100Hz (as my speakers go down to 48...)
sub hipass => 80Hz
sub input sensitivity at -25dB (as the speakers are 80 + 80 W, and the sub itself is 170W...
sub is centered between the speakers
the speakers ar at 50cm from back / side wall, and about 3m apart
I listen in the classic triangle, so I am about 3m from each speaker, and about 2m from the sub.

When critically-listening, my volume is between -42dB and -36dB, depending on the level the (original, now ripped) CD was recorded at... but when I can do so, it means the house if free from every other human or animal life form, and the neighbours are either sleeping, or GONE , that is to say: external ambient noise is very very close to none.

I've the same issue. My previous amp was WiiM Amp and it sound much louder on the same speaker.
I use Polk Audio R200 speakers which play perfectly with the WiiM Amp.
When I hooked up to Eversolo to play them normally I used to turn the volume to 80-90%.
In WiiM Amp this is not more than 50%. So If I want to play them loud I used to volume up to 100% and still not enough. My WiiM Amp uses the same class D amplifier and it works fine on 60-70% of it maximxim where Eversolo needs to be volume up to 100%.

Gain is set to 0.0, EQ is set to default.

Any idea will be helpful.

 

My solution was external Dac and then Monoblocks

 

Same issue and I'm using the coax output. No sound till around -50db, then it gets loud very quickly near the end of the range.
