Eversolo Play HDMI ARC Issues

Discussion in 'Eversolo Play Series' started by Hari Gangeshan, Oct 20, 2025.

My Eversolo Play (Non-CD Version) connected via HDMI to my Samsung Smart TV. I have also connected a pair of bookshelf speakers. I have noticed, when I open the YouTube App on the TV the Audio Plays without any issues. However, if I switch the app to either, Netflix, Prime or Apple TV on the TV, the audio doesn't come through and I hear some weird clipping noises as if the speaker is gonna blow. I am wondering should I connect the TV Audio via Toslink to the Eversolo as I have only 2 Speaker (L+R) Setup. Appreciate any advice on what this issue may be and how to resolve this.

I'm also using the Play with a Samsung TV. In Settings > Sound > Expert Settings, make sure Digital Output Audio is set to "PCM," not "Auto." If you have the input set to eARC (rather than regular ARC), make sure your HDMI connection is hooked up to the TV's dedicated eARC HDMI port.

HDMI ARC is not working with my TCL TV. I've checked the cable and it's fine. I have tried both ARC and eARC modes on the PLAY. TCL TV works fine with a Wiim Ultra.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks

I have purchased an Eversolo Play within the last week. It does not work with HDMI for me. I have followed all the advice here, checking eARC connections n switching to PCM. No joy. I’ve also attempted using Optical In with no results. I’m at my wits end here. Should I send it back and try another one?

Also, for a company with mostly equipment costing over $1000, this is ridiculously poor service and the number of problems turning up on internet for this model really is saying nothing for product quality either.

What is it that you are trying to achieve? It's not so common here that people complains about nothing working, so you might want to explain, and possibly get help, right?
    1. your source device(s) - the players
    2. your destination device(s) - the amps, speakers etc.

    Cheers, Al.

I had my eARC problems as well when I connected my LG tv to the play for the first time. I had this ugly noise on my speakers. I had to change the tv settings to pcm and reconnected the cable and the problem was solved.

I am trying to get ANY input from tv through the Play to speakers. HDMI gives no sound from speakers connected to the Play. Optical gives no sound from speakers connected to the Play. It doesn’t work. I have also power cycled tv and Eversolo. At this point, it looks like it will be going back.

How can this be a manufacturer’s support?

Sorry if it looks like a silly question, but, have you checked:
    1. that you select the adequate input, on the PLAY
    2. the volume is correctly adjusted (especially for the optical)
    3. on your TV, the specified output is active / selected

    HTH
    Cheers, Al.

I had a few initial glitches at the beginning with the EP and my Samsung Frame TV. First off I used an antiquated HDMI cable that evidently wasn't newer than the "old" 1.4 version. You evidently need a 2.0 or 2.1 HDMI cable. After I swapped in a 2.0 or 2.1 HDMI cable I was getting a loud buzzing tone, etc. Then I read the above. I changed my settings from "Auto" to "PCM" in the Samsung Frame TV and then from "ARC" to the newer "eARC" in the EP. So far so good. I'm glad I found this forum. Learning bit by bit; baby steps. :)

I appreciate the information here, I also had the PLAY SAMSUNG HDMI Buzzing noise.
The suggestion to PCM and eARC were followed and a newer HDMI cable used and the issue seems resolved.
Question should Powering ON or OFF Samsung TV also Turn Play ON or OFF as well ?
    Mine does Not
(isn't this one of the reasons for eARC to begin with?)

YES, that IS one of the reasons for eARC and one would definitely think that turning on a TV connected via HDMI eARC/ARC to the Eversolo Play's eARC port would trigger the EP to power on (just like my TCL Roku TV powers on my Denon AVR in another room via that connection). But like yours, mine doesn't do that either.

The EP does however, automatically switch inputs (from, say, "Optical" or "Internal" to "HDMI" to ARC in) if I already have the EP powered on. Of course I’ve only had the EP for a few weeks and rushed connecting things so I might need to double-check my TV's settings. Has anyone else actually been successful in having their EP auto-power on via eARC?

So can the EP actually be turned off or on via hdmi earc or arc from the TV?

If not I may have to buy a wiim as I know they work via this method

It should toggle the EP power, but nobody seems to have cracked the code on that yet. Honestly, I’m just glad that turning on the TV automatically switches the input to ARC (when the EP is already powered on). Otherwise, I don't attach as much importance to that function as you might -- I more enjoy the music-centric features it does offer instead. Best of luck with the WiiM if you decide to go that route; all the products in their line are great budget-friendly values!

    Thanks for the reply.

I really need a device that can be powered on when my tv is turned off and on,

so maybe the wiim amp ultra will be better than the play as we know the wiim has hdmi Cec for tv’s.

please let me know if I am wrong.

Certainly. All I can say is I really DO like both the Wiim screened (Ultra and Ultra Amp) devices and actually ordered the Wiim Ultra no less than three times in the past year or so (always at the $270 or so BF or Amazon Prime price), It's just that I could never get past how small the screen was as good a deal as they were, so I always returned them. However, they may very well indeed have a true ARC/Device-On system. I have my EP on a Samsung The Frame TV so really only use that for art work and only rarely as a TV (my main TV is in my living room). If you absolutely want or need that ARC setup then you should have it. I'd imagine you could easily verify/confirm by downloading the manual. On the other hand, I wouldn't put it past Eversolo to introduce some software fix on the Play that actually DOES allow it to be powered on and off with the TV's ARC signal so wonder if you might be throwing in the towel prematurely.
