Eversolo PLAY does not support Bluetooth to headphones

Discussion in 'All about Eversolo' started by castalla, May 23, 2025.

  1. Bottom line is, the device doesn’t have it. It’s been explained that the reason it doesn’t have it is that the purpose of the device is to play digital music at high quality, something which Bluetooth essentially prevents. Essentially, the target market for this device wouldn’t tend to use Bluetooth to play back music.

Sorry it’s not the news you wanted. There are many other devices, outwith the hifi music world, which will play music at the highest quality Bluetooth allows. You can pick up a cheap Android phone for example and link to your WiFi. It’s even portable and will sound every bit as good as this device would playing Bluetooth. But this device does not support it.

As far as I know the A6 doesn't provide bt tx as a feature. Yet, it can be enabled using a sideloaded settings apk.
Can the same sideload apk enable tx on the PLAY.? That's my question.

In a 99.9% scenario, yes, it will. After all it is an Android device...

It works fine, I am doing it now. No need for dongles or other hardware!

    1) Install an Android Settings apk. I used the one in the attached photo. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, apk's are not safe!

    2) Set your headphones in pairing mode

    3) Open the new settings app and add Bluetooth device. Boom, working!

I am a bit surprised about all the arrogant answers from people who don't even own the device.

"Use a laptop, use your phone, Bluetooth sounds bad"

Well, my Play is the center of my music. It contains my ripped CDs, my turntable is connected to it and it has the links to the podcasts I listen too.

When a simple fix makes it possible to enjoy my content using my high quality Bluetooth headphones, why should I mess around with a PC or phone?

There is a term called "Besserwisser" that applies to many audiophiles. Let's just enjoy the music instead of picking everything apart.

Music is yours, ears are yours. If you're happy, we all are happy (or, at least, I am)

This device supports HDMI ARC, so it is also meant for entertainment sources, not just audiophile high-res material. It is also meant to be a centralized and convenient hub for all our media needs - so not having BT TX is an oversight in any modern setup, in my view.

In addition to Android apk, I was very curious about the USB BT TX dongle. Any USB dongle that works for PC will work here? Can I configure to use PCM out in the USB? Would Eversolo Play automatically disconnect speakers sound when BT dongle is connected to headphones?

Just make sure the BT dongle is meant to operate off USB Audio, rather than just general USB. The dongle that I tried ( and works on my A6) just deals with PCM and apart from a pairing button, there is no other configuration possible. The dongle is an Avantree DG80P model, there may be newer variants available now, aptX Adaptive codecs.

    Got BT working!
But how do I get volume control working? The volume knob doesn't translate to the headphones

This thing is high up on my wish list since release but for me the lack of built in headphone support/output is a major pain so I still didn't order one. I find the 'sound quality' argument to not supply native BT heatphone support pretty weird TBH. The 'bluetooth quality issue' probably wouldn't bother or scare away customers as I think more customers would prefer any kind of native headphone support. In hindsight for such a relatively new device using a bluetooth 6.0 chipset maybe would have been an extra selling point as that seems to be supporting (near?) lossless codecs anyway.

  11. I think the issue is that if you’re going to use Bluetooth headphones, most people would just use their phone as there would be zero improvement in quality gained by using the Eversolo.

Ensure you have selected a digital output of some form not an analog one, the Bluetooth resource will source off the internal digital feed and follow it's volume. This worked on my A6 anyhow, not sure about the Play.

So, where in settings do I set this? Output port is currently Speaker - other choices are coac and usb.

Put it to coax and make sure volume passthrough is OFF so that you can adjust the volume (if such a setting exists on Play).
