    Hello,

    I own a VIDDA C5 ProMax (V7) projector connected to a Zidoo Z9X Pro.

I would like to ask whether it would be possible to create or provide a custom EDID specifically for the VIDDA C5 ProMax, in order to address some color-management issues I am experiencing with Dolby VS10.

    1. Excessive red tint with VS10 on SDR content
When using Dolby VS10 to process SDR content, I get a noticeable red/magenta bias compared with native SDR output.

Skin tones and some red/orange elements become noticeably too warm, and the overall color balance is not accurate.

Native SDR looks significantly more balanced, while the problem appears when the Zidoo processes SDR through VS10.

    2. BT.2020 / color-space issue
I also have concerns about the way BT.2020 is declared and handled through the HDMI EDID.

The projector appears to support BT.2020, but the actual color reproduction is not always correct when using combinations of:

    • VS10
    • HDR
    • BT.2020
    • Dolby Vision / LLDV
I suspect there may be a mismatch between the projector's EDID color-space/gamut capabilities and the way the Zidoo/VS10 engine is generating the output signal.

In particular, I would like to determine whether the EDID is causing the Zidoo to use an inappropriate color-space or gamut conversion for this projector.

What I would like to test
Could you please analyze the original EDID of the VIDDA C5 ProMax (V7) and, if possible, create a custom EDID that correctly declares the projector's actual capabilities regarding:

    • BT.2020
    • DCI-P3
    • HDR10
    • Dolby Vision
    • LLDV
    • RGB / YCbCr output
    • VS10 processing
The goal would be to determine whether correcting the EDID information can eliminate the excessive red/magenta tint with VS10 SDR and improve the correct handling of BT.2020.

    Thank you for your help.

Sorry, yes, Z9X and Z20 Pro are different settings - they were dumbed down on the Pro - I was told this was at Dolby's request.

    The EDID is attached.

Perfect thank you so much ! Exactly everything I was looking for I would rate you 5 stars.

Edit - Having tested it I'm even much much happier. 3D still works and with my HDR set to auto my projector gets HDR10 as HDR10 and DV from VS10. It all seems perfect and you have a very happy camper here.

There's nothing you can really do with the EDID other than change primaries in the Dolby Block, and that will only affect Dolby Vision output, whether that's native or a conversion.

However, the Dolby Block defines the primaries that are native to your projector so you have to assume that the manufacturer got those right.

If they didn't, which is unlikely but not impossible, then yes you can change those values, but there's little point me doing it because anything I change would be pure guess work - I'm not there to either analyse the picture of test the results - it would be very much a trial and error situation.

The primaries defined in the Dolby Block of your EDID are as below - I've done a comparison with both BT.2020 and DCI-P3:

    Code:
        EDID BT.2020 DCI-P3
    Rx 0.719 0.708 0.680
    Ry 0.277 0.292 0.320
    Gx 0.152 0.170 0.265
    Gy 0.805 0.797 0.690
    Bx 0.137 0.131 0.150
    By 0.043 0.046 0.060

Hi @Markswift2003 , I recently bought vidda c2 ultra chinese version projector. I was trying to get dolby vision from c2 ultra via ziddo z9x pro.
We could see vs10 dolby vision but not a true mapping and when I tried with some available edid's in zidoo, I can see dolby vision but refresh is not smooth. Picture get struck in between. Can you please share edid which works for c2 ultra to get dv.
Also from zidoo we get bluray 3d if we connect directly to c2u but for audio from q990f if I try zidoo to soundbar hdmi in and soundbar hdmi arc to c2U I'm not getting bluray 3d. Can you please help to get custom edid's for both the scenarios.

The Q990F is probably stripping the 3D flag from the EDID.

Can you send me two EDIDs:

    1. EDID with the Zidoo connected directly to the Projector
    2. EDID with the Zidoo connected as normal through the sound bar

    To Download EDID

Settings/Display/Custom EDID/Save EDID (make sure Custom EDID is Off)

Save to a USB stick or network location

Post the file as attachment to forum

    Hi Mark,

Please find the below attached EDID for ziddo to c2 ultra ( chinese ) and Ziddo -> Q990f -> c2 ultra ( chinese).

Can you please share EDID for both dolby vision and bluray 3d seperately with True dolby Atmos and DTS X.

Ok, it's as I expected - the soundbar truncated the EDID and removed the 3D element. Soundbars are notorious for mangling EDIDs.

I had to remove some video modes in order to fit 3D and Dolby Vision into the EDID, but these are only modes that the Zidoo doesn't support (4096x2160) and spurious SD modes.

Attached is the Soundbar EDID with DV and 3D intact - just load into the Zidoo and select it.
